We used to stay across the highway at what had been an upscale hotel in the 50's with a fake cave swimming pool in the basement. You had an amazing view of what all those tower guns could do. All ski areas in the NE should make snow like Hunta.

Picture a slope a little wider and steeper than Marjie's or Razor's Edge. Then put 800 Aholes on it. Sure, 10 of them will be just swell people--- the June's and DMC's of the world, for those that know them. But the other 790 people that will be on Hellgate are absolute scum. And when I party, the last thing I want to do is end up in stupid fist fights. But the Hunter scum line up in gauntlets to the women's room at the bar we used to go to and would grab the butt of ever girl on the way by. Same on the dance floor. We used to club a lot...five or six nights a week when we were near Philly. Hunter nightlife is where all the sleezeballs that wouldn't be allowed past the bouncers at our old clubs have free reign. In other words, I hate everything about that place. Uh, great snowmaking, though.

Lived in Salisbury; played in OC.

Why, thanks, Jib...it's my Atomic red and black Jeep. For as much as I bitch about it on long trips, I have my own little snowbank I park it on at the top of the the Montage Northface lift.

Did I say bus stop? I meant bar.

We had a snowball fight at the bus stop.

I put a pic in "Pics"...no big deal, but it's starting to coat things here.
-
Not too exciting, but things are getting coated...

Could you ask them to turn them on?

Some of us know the Daves...and some of us have even posted DaveK pictures. But my grandmother would lose a fight with DaveK because he would eat her. Really.

Yep. If it's open. Otherwise, Windham or Greek Peak, if they are. Or it could be a good time to try Plattekill. Vermont is too far for me to go for limited terrain. Hunter, though, is not an option; I refuse to start my ski season among rude, angry NYC road-ragers.

Emtp and Nitro remind me of DaveK and DaveJ's winter versus summer articles they used to write. Slightly different tone, though.
-
What'll be REALLY funny is when people start bitching about how crowded Camelbeach has become and how fed up they are during the summer.
-
Thanks, empt563, that was fun to read.

Anyone that works or even volunteers at CB has to remain anonymous here if they want to be free to be even slightly critical of CB. 'Dude, DaveK has made it perfectly clear with you and me that he's willing to cause problem with race careers should either of us be critical of their policies. With me, he tried it; with you, as I recall, he threatened it. And do any of us remember him threatening the admin of this board with some abiguous legal consequence should we state a negative opinion of CB? What a JERKWAD! So welcome here and be anonymous and free Ski911! Just remember that donut boy is sniffing about for any dissent.

If it hadn't been waxed for two years, it should be pretty obvious if they waxed it. Is it shiny, or does it seem dull, maybe with a little white powder here and there? Shiny means waxed... A full tune-up usually includes a wax. When they sharpen the base edge or stone grind, they make it absolutely necessary that you wax. When in doubt, wax. It never hurts to wax. And even if just use the liquid wax in a bottle that you rub on, it'll make your board turn better and last longer.

Today was opening day for collecting $780 for a "Family of Two" season pass. The brilliant minds of Lackawanna County decided that raising the family season pass by $100 will make lots more people want to come and and spend money. Junior season passes went from $340 to $390. For any business major students out there, it's a terrific lesson: when in financial trouble, raise prices and provide less service. It's a winning combo.

I was just kidding Ski911; we've probably run into one-another at some point in the past.

If you look at a wide map, like something on the weather channel where it shows the entire Northeast, Atomic's lake house is further north than any part of NJ. I remember always looking for that while watching the Weather Channel when this was just our vacation home.

Ah, but by the end of a sports season, holding a camera is like holding a shotglass the morning after a drunken binge.

Some Catskill ski areas got a pretty good coating this morning. I'm just due west of Tanglwood, which is about 45 min. north of CB. Yeah, you'd think I'd have one stupid camera with me...

I'm between sports seasons. I'd be more than happy to ski instead of work at basketball games and wrestling matches in January, but I'd probably end up homeless and have to break into Atomic's lake house to survive the winter.
