Has anyone ever seen a ski area grooming open slopes? I thought it was a mistake when I saw it at Montage last week, but I was watching from the lift as big-ass Bully groomers were building up the gap jumps today, while boarders were simply avoiding the one's being worked on. It was pretty cool, sort of like a mouse just f*ing around right in front of a snake, or something.

Just got in from an hour or so at Montage and had expected it to be miserable. The snow was excellent! Aside from a little mist on the goggles, it was a warm night with great spring snow.

They were honest last year with the...jeez, I hate to even repeat that billboard with the "We've got.." and the "runs" thing.

Outskiing CB Rangers has never been much of an issue. But I think their slow decents give them extra time to stew over your infraction which is why they are all red and huffy when they find you in the lift line.

Ahhh, makes my eyes all well up with tears just thinking about those days. The hardest thing about moving to the Poconos full time was leaving City Gardens and it's Thursday night mosh sets. I actually met my wife in a mosh pit during one of the slow parts of Head Like a Hole. If it weren't for skiing, most people around Scranton/Wilkes-Barre would kill themselves.

You could get him to do or eat anything. He still holds the record for jumping off the lift chairs at CB in one night and I'd dare anyone to try to top him: 8 times. So if your on a CB lift and it starts bouncing all crazy, that was my man Stoney, doing an early-eject.

Everyone seems a little touchy after the banning crusade. I sure hope the CAT members survived Gus and whatever kind of shit Dave caused for them. Their head coach--an old friend of mine-- can be a major hardass. The snow was great today, btw, but was everywhere else as crowded as Montage? Today was actually the busiest day so far this season.

They cut them during the f*ing day! Last season, during a midweek day, I had just unlocked my skis and reattached my lock to the ancient red lock stands when some guy walks up to it with bolt cutters. The fucking guy was about to cut the lock I'd just spent 25 bucks for in the goddamn shop that was about 15 feet away. Imagine how unpleasant that conversation quickly became!

Skidude, I was hanging with a guy his late 50's on Sunday. Met him on the lift. He was funny, with a pissed off attitude about a Montage Ranger. We took a couple of runs down the north face and he was a really good skier. But what do you talk about with some guy that's almost 60? He complained about being stiff and his bum knee. Well, then he headed over to NASTAR, stripped off his coat and ski pants and was wearing a race suit. Okay, Gramps, I'm thinking. Then he jumped out of the wand and smoked the course, beating the f*ing pacesetter, who is a Montage Ski Team coach. This is his NASTAR Registration ID: WAD97 You know, a certain calm came over me watching that old timer. I suddenly realized that when my wife and dog are dead and my daughters have long since disowned me, I still might be able to ski a 13 handicap. That would sure bring me inner peace. Being old doesn't have to suck.

Bodies back, Skidude. He had a good weekend (although nothing compared to Rahlves 1st, 2nd, 3rd) and scored a bunch of points. Bodie raced in five races at Kitzbuehel and had a 7th and 16th in DH's; a 28th in SG; a 4th in SL; and won the combined. It puts him 4th in the overall cup standings, just 123 points behind Kjus. Hermann's ahead of him, but skiing like shit, lately.

He isn't a racer, he's a boarder. He claimed to have just moved from Tahoe and was "rippin' up MC". So I asked him what THAT conversation was like...the one where his mom came into his bedroom out in Tahoe and said, "Honey, good news! We're moving to New Joisey!!!" He said, "Fuck you, buddy, my mom's dead." Turned out, she wasn't really dead after all. Or had only been a little dead, and then wasn't dead anymore. She was listed with Warwick Valley Tele., where they had their ISP. So I started forwarding all his threats and his families account with WVT was terminated.
