Wow, it's cool that they survived being closed for a season. I used to race in their beer league. The NASTAR course, btw, is short and straight, but has a pretty nice pitch. Lots of good times, but def not a place to go if you're looking for anything more than a short and very mild blue square.

Philly, is it okay to tease you about the 5 yr old boy with the 42.79?
-
Ha, that sounds an awful lot like Dan Rather's fake National Guard document story before the last election.
-
Yeah, okay, whatever. A lot of my friends are boarders and park rats. You're saying an internet feed is what I rely on for my background in ski racing? Huh? Love Bode all you want. Just don't make up fake quotes.
-
I wasn't giving anyone crap. I just wanted to point out that most of those kids aren't future racers, despite what coat the instructors are wearing. They get introduced to to all parts of the mountain and the vast majority beg to go back to the park. By the time kids are 15 to 19, there's only a total of less than 150 left in the entire state.
-
A race fan, you dipshit. And look up quotation marks in the dictionary. Just don't do it again---it's sleazy even for you.
-
I'm glad that you admit you're a liar. I'll get you some knee pads for the next time you come back east...maybe hit up a Bode autograph session.
-
Then run like holy fucking hell Just to be clear, almost 3/4 of the little kids in development programs become freestylers. I guess it riles people up more to refer to them as 3 yr old racers?
-
It's humbling to watch some of those kids attacking those icy headwalls.

Correcting a misquote. Sorry I seem to be weighing so much on your life, Larry.
-
And definitely check out their park, Raj

Just a few snapshots of yesterday's PA Cup slalom race held on Smoke at Sno...the Cup race series is to decide the PA State Champions, as well as to decide who moves on to represent the state in postseason competition versus the best in New England. forerunner 2nd headwall---getting late in the line start area racer skates and poles to the first gate upper headwall WNEP News chick gives a stand-up coming to the breakover busting it through the first gates

I've said a lot about Bode, you moron, mostly that he's the greatest talent every to ski out of the US. You can make up quotes, which you just did, or you can UNDERSTAND what I've been saying. Bode's boozing and blowing off Olympic opportunities is a horrible example. Look at the example he set for his cousin---'to get that fucking cop'. You can bow down to people who have great talent. It sure sounds like you'd like to get on your knees for Bode, DH. I've repeatedly said Bode is the most decorated skier in US history, but the WORST role model ever to come out of either the ski or snowboard team. Why it pains you that I don't want to root for the drunken idiot is beyond me. Now go make up some more quotes, you idiot. A great idea.

We sure have different definitions of heroes.

I've been freesking with a set of Nordica slalom race skis. They retailed for gobs of money, but I grabbed them off eBay for $99 in the wrapper. Did I mention how much eBay rocks? They are really sweet skis and if I'd known how good they were, I def wouldn't have converted them to rock/hack around skis. Oh, well. But, yeah, I've even done some rails on them (when Nick's not around, since he'd laugh at me).

You're waiting for green circles to open? It'll be interesting to ski Snake/Sidewinder (I know they're blues, but it's flat over there), but having Lower Runaway and Lower Fast Track open was what most people were waiting for.
-
Really? I thought it was on both. WTF, are they planning on having hits on Spike in June? It was pretty interesting to ski with the Polecats hitting you from both sides
-
Yeah, it's just blow-in. Amy got caught on a root and was stuck for a while. The majority of the new gladed area that they cleared the brush from is further to the east and I think the best way in will be when Snake is groomed. IDK, I'm not much of a glade fan. Trees are for cutting down. But, yeah, with a decent snowfall, people will be hucking those cliffs for sure. I'll be watching from the lift.

I'm bruised and exhausted. We rolled into the lot at 7:45am and sent the kid off with her coaches at 8:30am. We started with a trip down Lower Runaway to ride the Long Haul, which timed at exactly 9:56. We spent the first part of the morning on Runaway and Fast Track, then we went over and I did a few NASTAR runs. I crashed really good on my first run...I've crashed and even broken things in ASRA races, but this was my first crash on a NASTAR course ever. Musta been my skis Then we skied the blizzard on Spike before heading back over to try the skier's left section of glades. Why do people like glades? If you go fast, you hit a tree...Then we checked out the new slope, Rattler, which is really just a quick connector around to the bottom of the steepest Cannonball headwall. We never stood in a line, although it was the busiest day of the year. It was cool to finally get to rip down the lower headwalls of Runaway and Fast Track. They are still blowing on Easy Street and for the terrain park comp. They'd just turned the guns off on Snake/Sidewainder and were letting them set up to groom. By far the best day of the season. My first ride up Long Haul in a long time The view down LFS Making snow for tomorrow Rattler Rattler The grom on course Amy in the blizzard on Spike Part of the new glades Some boarders trying the steeper glades off Lower Fast Track

Yes. A snowmaking war against Elk? Terrain open? I guess anyone who skied both places at the tail end of the last 60 degree temperature stretch would be the best judge. But I heard Elk's blacks were mostly closed or showing bare spots.

Her first five seasons. But only on the right side, which party explains my peculiar look in a speed suit

Ha, no, it actually pays to be old for some things. The league is scored using NASTAR team points, so if you are a semi-fast 90 year old woman like Rob (just kidding, Rob), you're like gold to your team.
-
Oh, yeah, I'm not dissing it. We'd kill for something like that at any race arena. It's just new to me that a ski area uses a magic carpet for it. I've only heard of them used for bunny hills and tubing. I'm not saying it's bad, or anything.
-
Hey, at least you're not the oldest person on the team....something I just realized

I'm passionate about cases where hillbilly scumbags kill cops and leave little kids without their dads. There's only one side of that. Root for Bode all you want. I don't care. Bode could have diffused it, but chose to make it worse. And it sure got worse. I'm not yelling at you, Johnny. You stepped into a thread where there's history involved between Rob and I. Either he or his lovely kids posted my phone number and had a bunch of kids from NS call my home and really upset my wife a while back. Someone on NS forwarded the message which contained his IP address. He never had the balls to apologize. Character counts, as far as I'm concerned. Rob just doesn't have any. Okay. I'm done with this thread. I think the horse has been beaten far too long. Enjoy rooting for the hillbilly cop killing clan, Rob! You're sure headed for lots of stuff like that in the future.
