So you are saying you'll never be hit by lightning?
-
Baaaahhh, I was about to head over for a few...oh well, the radar is pretty nasty looking. And freaking thunderstorms tomorrow.

Is this the first mention of the 10 millionth visitor?

Oh, and just to add, flat, cloudy days on snow are usually cyan. I almost automatically bump the magenta, or at least start with yellow---and then bring up the red---in either PS or when I'm using an enlarger.

Flat light is flat light. Ideally, you'd pop a strobe, but that adds expensive gear. If it's for work (I have to shoot some college/high school skiing and don't wanna lug $400 flashes), I'll sacrifice my motor and just use an old Vivitar 283 flash with a Quantum battery. It dumps a huge amount of light on a subject I'm shooting with a 200mm lens. If you don't wanna bother with a strobe: you really just want to bring up the contrast a little, so you might try doubling the ASA rating----ie 400 to 800. Exposure is twice as critical, though, so you need to be sure you aren't backlighting/front lighting too much. I sorta cringe at ever purposely bumping up the ASA because of the shit it does to film grain, but digital images hold up better. On flat days, it can make a huge difference which side of the jump/subject you're on. Get the brighter clouds behind you, just like you'd get the sun over your shoulder. But if you can't do anything, minus the exposure and pop the contrast in PS, of course. Just my 2 cents...

Ha, your mag would be far superior, especially if you add the occasional semi-clothed centerfold of said picked-up girls, Glenn...

Cool shot of the base, PARR...shame to waste it...

Ah, childhood memories, Toast..my grandma was a horse breeder and any runts or horses that they had to put down were sold to animal food companies. Actually, they were more of a removal service in exchange for getting all that good meat. I think they still use it in some dog foods and is listed on the can/bag as "meat by-product meal".

Relax, Method...someone says they rode with someone who rode the French Alps on vacation and then wasn't disappointed by BB is indirectly comparing BB to the French Alps. But you can still call me illiterate any old time. BTW, I saw 'An American Werewolf in London' eight times and the skiing looked lame.

Wait, isn't Little League Parent Syndrome a condition in which a parent loses perspective and drives a child beyond normal bounds, often diminishing the child's love for the activity through acts which include attacking coaches and umpires, as well as escalating the intensity far beyond acceptable levels? Anyone? Anyone? Am I the only one?

Not so much Philly 'cause he likes dudes with longer hair, but you totally nailed me and DH. We've tried to keep it on the DL, so you must be psychic. Calling DH my bitch may be the best post ever.

Well, she apparently now drinks a lot when she skis...so yeah...

Eh, so BB is announcing on their website that they are only open weekends 10-6pm and NOT during the week after the 23rd, but you're saying that's just to keep the crowds down? They are secretly remaining open weeknights? That's weird. Doug, what do you think about this odd situation uncovered by TT?

Rattler looked a little different by 3 But, yeah, Ty's coach and his daughter were having a casual afternoon with us today---he's the guy I introduced you to on Switch. We were all finding untracked lines until 3:30pm, or so. Heck, both sides of Switch were untouched until we tracked them on the run we talked. It really was a blast today. The afternoon snow held up a lot better than yesterday afternoon. Drop me a pm if you're around this week.

"3/29 & 3/30/2008 SPRING CARNIVAL WEEKEND" Pond skimming, tug of war (into the pond), pin the tail on the moose (I made that up)....but JEA!!!

I'm sure you got a good tour from Snoskier... We had to get Ty to her race team party at noon, then---after almost accidentally running over Melissa in the parking lot---mostly skied the upper mountain all afternoon. We did lap Cannonball a few times, but the top of the mountain stayed cooler and the snow was easier to navigate for a kid on 100's. Try to catch ya next time,,,,

Just once that I saw. I was on the lift with a junky point and shoot. I thought it was a dopey thing to do, but it is slightly cool that our patrollers aren't just dicks with whistles. But it's not my park...

For those interested in both runs, they are up on: NASTAR

The 22' pipe was packed today...my kid and I played around in the 13', though. But it looked like the kids airing out of the 22'er were having an okay time. Sno was $10 from noon to 10pm for passholders from other mountains. Just fyi, Sno technically has six NF slopes, two of which have 1000ft vertical drop: Runaway and Fast Track. The top of Runaway is the SBX course, so it makes for a fun top to bottom. And, yeah, I would LOVE for Elk to offer a discount so the group of race parents I ski with could sample some late season snow without paying full price.

Philly, you're always welcome at Sno! Your smart and a wiseass---that gives you cred in these parts.

I'm not passing judgment...just throwing it out there...I'm no Smartstyle expert..
