  1. The season's been too good to still have rust on your skis! There were spots with only an inch or so of snow that made setting gates a little hard back on Sunday and there isn't all that much snow down below to push up. The timing for this warm-up for Thursday was worst case scenario---where the race was on the last day of the heat, so there's no time to blow and it's been warm the longest. I hate rainouts in soccer, too.
  2. Hell, yeah! His name was Rico he wore a diamond he was escorted to his chair, he saw Lola dancing there and when she finished,he called her over but Rico went a bit too far Tony sailed across the bar and then the punches flew and chairs were smashed in two there was blood and a single gun shot but just who shot who?

Yep. The best movie adaption from a novel ever, IMO.
  4. I just emailed one of our Joisey guys just to say it looks pretty sketchy for Thursday. I've seen Jim perform some miracles by drilling into mud, but the puddles in front of the finish house and the exposed rocks at the breakovers were bad yesterday. 40's are one thing, but 60's are a killer. Do I know you?
  5. BB used to blast music from lift towers. And I remember hearing 'Animals' quite a bit.
  6. It's true. But they didn't go with the bullet. Installation by Jan. 2010:

It makes me a little nervous.
  9. In respect to their close proximity of Scranton, the Sno design department is working on a way to bowl your trash into a barrel.

From the Sno conditions page: Current Trails Open 12 Lifts Open 4 Surface Spring Like Base 12" - 60" Snowmaking in Progress No New Snow Fall 0" From the Blue Mtn conditions page: Snow Report for Thursday, January 03, 2008 New Snowfall: Last 24 Hours: in. / -- cm. Last 48 Hours: in. / -- cm. Last 7 Days: in. / -- cm. Total Accumulation: Base: 30 in. / 76.2 cm. Season Total: in. / -- cm. Doug, this is as of one minute ago. Is it still Thursday at Blue? Jeez, one crack about your trash problem...well eight or nine...
  12. Yes, they cut down the remaining trees between Spike and Switch, but refused to install the baby seals for jib hits. The trash barrel is gone, but they've been sending workers down the lift lines to collect trash so it doesn't start looking like Blue (eh, no offense Doug---again, you people are pigs). Speaking of lifts, it was kind of a shame that there was rain around the holidays because it ruined the artwork someone spent a lot of time working on. Under both the Iron Horse and the bunny hill lift, someone used multi-color chalk (the stuff they use for ramps and race courses) to create 20 ft. tall elves with a holiday message in the snow. I believe it was from the ski patrol. Jeez, yeah, it was a bitch fest on the old CB board..."the music sucks" x100.
  13. I hear music on my iPod all the time, Schif

Race courses have issues, too...like when a group of a dozen people from the same club run the course over and over, rutting the crap out of it, then they just ski away when they are done. If they all just took one run more slow run down it in a wedge (called 'slipping'), the course would be as good as new. Ty, btw, loves skiing in your park
  15. Mike, did you call the right mountain?

Time? It takes about three seconds to click 'search members posts' and I was curious where all the hostility came from. I mean, I know it would be a drag to get a pass someplace where I hated all the people already. Clashboy, you can mow my lawn next summer and we'll be sure to get you back to Elk No worries. Yeah, IDK how often you're over in the park, but we all try to stay on the good side of GoodNick.

Just to add... Ty and I headed over after school and just skied the upper mountain. Whistler is pretty good, but Switch has taken a hit and has a narrow spot at the top headwall but is still very skiable. The Mainline park had one jump roped off and it's sketchy around other features. Highball is still okay, so the after school kids still have a place to straightline and crash. There was a really funny guy tonight who was taking a private lesson, but just kept going all balls out and having some pretty hilarious yard sales. He was getting cheers from the lift. It was 55 degrees in the lot and stayed pretty warm for the dozen runs we took. It has the same feeling as when I hike for turns at our own ski hill in late April---the air was really warm, but you could feel the cold rising up from the snow. We ran into Wolverine21 just as we were heading over to lap the Shuttle lift. Sorry, Wolverine, but I think I've only seen you in goggles and maybe last year at the passholder party and wasn't sure who you were at first. Then Nick showed up to keep the park rats in line. Ty says she's sorry she's so shy but you both are really nice boys. I told her she better be nice to Nick because he fixes what you groms do to his take-off's on weekends. Anyway, spring conditions for the next few days and patrol will start marking rocks soon. The good news for park rats is that the huge piles of snow are groomed and waiting to set up. So while the rest off us suffer the thin cover, you guys are gonna have a TON of snow on Spike. I'm sure, though, that the NF is holding up just fine. Just as the sun set, a lot of kids showed up, so business looked pretty good for the night. Some pics:

No, I can work on and off for years at several ski areas, then meet with Areco reps. I certainly bow to Skifreak's snowmaking knowledge, as well as the guy who makes it at BB. But I sure know how HKD's work, while you don't. And just to be clear, publicenemy666, isn't related to the good Nick... BTW, publicenemy666badNick, why the hostility? Why so angry?
  19. x2 Free ski checks are awesome. A couple of years ago I was at CB and locking my gear to the orange pay locks and had a security guard yell at me and threaten to cut my locks off if I didn't move my skis. It was a spring day, the slopes were empty (as were the pay locks), and I was locking them to the end facing the lift, so I wasn't impeding any locks. Crazy. I wonder what he would have done with my skis after cutting the cables of my two locks? EBay?

OMG, really? I had no idea what those things were. I helped locate and buy two used units for our private ski hill and am sure glad to have someone like you to explain what they are. But you do know how the tower guns work, right? And did you just call me a moron?

BTW, Clashboy, what's your deal with all the trolling? It wasn't too long ago that you posted this: "sno sucks. the sno is terrible the ppl suck(employees) and the park rats are douches. being a boarder it may sound strange to most to prefer elk but the snow is is awesome. the slow lifts give u a great view and plenty of time to pick out your next run or line depending where u are. the runs offer some nice diversity and some good turns. the whole atmosphere is awesome there, so much better than sno. sno to me is so "industralized" and it seems like it is set up just for the money making puruposes. elk to me is such a nice wintery and inviting place. everyone is so nice and theres things there for everyone. deffinetly for years to come elk will be getting my 600 bucks for a pass as long as it stays as it now. for thoughs of u who disagree with me, before you say anything head down to elk on one of our two pow days and then say you hate elk." So you just start posting bullshit threads about Sno? Wishing they opened the better terrain? I'm not calling you out, but why waste your energy? Another from Clashboy: "im a local here at elk and have no complaints. the slow lift speeds keep people like you guys complaining about it away from the mountain which is a deffinite plus wiggle.gif wiggle.gif wiggle.gif wiggle.gif . we get some decent snow and the trees are fun. elk is just an all around good mountain in my opinion. i like not having so many park rats and just being able to leave my shit out without it being stolen!" How uncool would it be for Sno people to pretend to be Elk locals and trash talk the mountain? Jeez, didn't you realize you can search members posts? EDIT: BTW, both posts were from this past summer. BEFORE this season.

You'd rather have Fast Track and Runaway open rather than the rest of the North Face? Why? A few days of 50+ temps and you might be glad they built up the base on the NF instead of wasting water/air pressure on Easy Street.
  24. I asked if they could please move those huge freaking mounds over to Switch for our Thursday night races. They said no.
