Not sure if you're the person to go to, but some of my daughter's Brownie Troop parents have asked my wife---a troop leader---if Sno plans to hold any scout days, like they do at Shawnee. We used to ski Shawnee every once in a while and always tried to avoid the huge crowds that scout days brought. I believe the kids earned fitness badges from their troops. Here's the Girl Scout contact info: Scranton 333 Madison Avenue Scranton, PA 18510 T: 570.344.1224 F: 570.346.7259 Just a thought...they'd need a decent discount, though, since Brownies are cheapskates.

There used to be a webcam hosted on RSN...but it was a little suspicious that nothing ever changed and it was always sunny at the Shuttle lift, with blue skies, even at night... RSN Cams But, yeah, a real webcam would be great.

What's a toperuvians? Is it like a Peruvian? And Doug, I highly recommend a lesson if you haven't been out for a while. Why risk injury?
-
Where were you thinking, Keith? Maybe something that drops in just after the right turn onto the first Smoke headwall, crosses the cat track, then eventually funnels into the opening under the lift? That would be my vote, but ski patrol would be pretty busy loading bodies onto the Phoebe. But, heck, they're pretty good at it...

Very true. I recall last year someone telling a ski patroller in the Iron Horse line that someone was hurt on Runaway...I probably missed something, but the patroller got on the lift, but I was thinking maybe he could have just jumped out of line and skied down. BTW, Upper Runaway is misspelled on the new map. And the new map says 204 acres, while the conditions page says 209. Not to be picky, but I'm just sayin'....

I don't mean the scenery---jeez, from the top of the summit quad you can see Sugarbush. It's gorgeous. I just meant that it doesn't ski as big as most New England resorts, IMO. Without looking it up, I'd say that Gore was a lot bigger. But I'm not harshing on WF---it has NO crowds and the people are generally friendlier than most. It's my second favorite place in NY.

The area right about at the 2 o'clock spot on the circle is the bitch.

Just to be clear, riderossi, I was talking about my lack of brain, not your's or anyone else's. Things have been a little tense around here...
-
Uh oh, a new member with a brain. We're all in trouble.

ASRA Race Scheduled for this Saturday at Bear Creek

You poor drugged up bastard. This winter just isn't the same.... -
There's a tough ridge on the east side, but there's def a lot of room. Spreading out the crowds really hasn't been a problem, though. Not yet.

You're coming with the Mark? Cool...it should be about 60 below when you get here.
-
You can, but it kills the trees. I believe Belleayre commissioned a study through their state funding and found the best thing to do was just blow high on adjacent trails and let the wind blow it in somewhat naturally. Yeah, but whenever we've skied Whiteface it always seemed more like a downstate area unless The Slides were open.
-
Well, it's not a James Niehues, Schif....I saw a news story a while back about the guy who does the majority of ski area maps: Map Dude Crazy stat: Sno Mountain is now only 21 acres smaller than Whiteface Mountain even including The Slides.

Oh, well...I have a friend coming up from BC at night, but I try to take a run with you every couple of years. Have fun, TP4, and remember to wear a warm sweater and a nice scarf---it's gonna be a three hoe day, as Doug would say.
-
Okay, that's the best post ever.

They are all set to blow the whole mountain. They took advantage of a couple of marginal hours Xmas night, so I'm sure they plan to make the most out of this arctic front.
-
That really was a funny TR, Rick. Peace.
-
Ah, yeah, could be. An instructor told me it was for Mainline, but that makes more sense.
-
It's Bob's fault. He skis off all the good snow before anyone else gets there. Really.
-
Yeah, it does sound like they are having a really tough time. That came off as a mia culpa letter. And of course they've chased away non-park skiers. They have more police calls at MC than any Pocono ski area by far, which upper middle class folks just don't want to be around. I have friend who works there who had her car broken into three times last winter.

I sort of liked the Playboy Hotel...my grandfather had a membership "key" back in the late 70's. Big boobies, fishnet stockings, and bunny tails...and we skied a little, too.

x2. BTW, the JF course is pretty tough for little kids, so it was earned.
