  1. Only $1200 for me BTW: Holly Flanders Flanders was part of a team that included Christin Cooper and Cindy Nelson back when I was in college...she was a smokin' fast chick.
  2. Are you still on it posting from one of those fancy iPhones?
  3. I only saw it running a few weekend afternoons and never at night. Since I don't believe they'd done any major mechanical work on it, we stayed off it. Too many friends with horror stories.
  4. Sure you can: Angry Pocono NASTAR skier in charge of evaluating top of the line Salomon race skis: Priceless.
  5. Well, where'd they come from, the Salomon fairy? What's the story. And what makes them sick?
  6. Simply overhauling the Long Haul lift and getting it to run at anywhere near its maximum speed and not break down would be a good step to go along with the lighting. Advertising a new high speed quad will double ticket sales and they could get it in if the order is already placed. No matter what, though, I'm psyched about us opening before Booter.
  7. All the skiers and riders are waiting to hear what they have decided to do for this winter. All their efforts have been toward summer construction, but now that the summer season is cancelled, maybe some good stuff will happen. Among other reasons, they got bogged down state grants not coming through in time. Beyond the normal early season discount, don't look for 'returning customer' deals. In fact, Sno's new owners took away some of the old perks, like free day passes with each season pass and the food discount. The awesome food at the passholder party more than made up for it, though. The shrimp were the size of small cats. So, whether or not they install the quad and fix the lighting issue will be the decision maker for you buying a season pass? Call and tell them! Leave messages, email them, and post it on here. I know that at least a few long time employees lurk on this MB. Just because the new owners are a great group of guys doesn't mean we shouldn't constantly remind them that we want the quad, lights, and new trails...right?
  8. As long as you don't get caught with the babysitter.
  9. Welcome to the obsession.

I'd be voting every year to rip the f*cker out and put in a triple. I used to hit MRG a lot when I lived in Mass. because that's where my friends wanted to go. Crappy snowmaking, lousy grooming, a muddy parking lot, and relying on high water content snowfall just never appealed to me. Some people LOVE it. Good for them.
  11. Boy, someone got their d*ck caught in their zipper. Having a good summer, Lar?

    News story

'Kitten, MRG's single chair costs more in annual maitenance than any high speed quad. They could simply rip it out and replace it with a new lift and be done with the nightmarish upkeep. The single chair, btw, is the reason there's no snowboarders allowed at MRG. MRG had been one of the first resorts to embrace snowboarders, but the flat offloading area at the top of the single forced boarders to push off the chair and it would throw the alignment out. So boarders were banned from that one lift. The owner, at the time, was an elderly lady that was well known in town and a couple of teenage snowboarders cussed her out in a grocery store, so she banned all boarders and even though ownership is now co-opt, there isn't enough votes to allow snowboarding. And they consider it heresy to even consider replacing the single chair.
  13. Hey, Noob, welcome! When is the right time to buy a season pass? Whenever you want. What the heck, since it'll probably encourage you to get out more, why not? Those $50 day passes really don't encourage many people to ski/ride. My second thought is that you'd be just fine at Shawnee, especially if you can ride during the week and nights. Passes are $369 (or $269 if you can hook up with someone else and buy the buddy pass) and there are lots of times when the slopes are empty. As a season passholder, you'll get a pretty good sense of the best times to ride during the week after a few weeks. JF/BB may have a little more to offer, but I'd rather ski that extra hour of round trip driving...if you want to take advantage of BB's late season riding, just do what a lot of us do that have season passes elsewhere: pay the $20 discounted rate.

Hey, Bob! Mike has most of them and we've been waiting to get together at Sno Cove...kind of killing two birds by handing them out and then checking out the new construction and all. Hopefully, they'll finally open in a couple of weeks. Certainly not a mandatory meeting or anything, just for anyone that just happens to be available that day and is interested in seeing the new place and maybe bring the kids.

    Atomic race gear.

She had a solid junior career that looks like it kept getting derailed by injury. Nadia was fully capable of scoring top 10's in FIS races---which she did---but taking that step up into Nor Am speed events didn't turn out well. I'm sort of curious what happened to her in a Nor Am SG at Panorama---if the women run the same track as the men, then it's got a monster fall away turn on a steep section. I wonder if that's where she ate it. Kind of a six degrees of separation thing, the girl that won the last race Nadia ran (the Canadian Nationals at Whistler last March) was Britt Janyk, one of my favorite female racers. Janyk's best ever World Championship finish was at Are, last February. Anja Paerson won, of course, but Janyk finished tied for 4th with Ty's favorite racer, Nicole Hosp. Anyway, Nadia should consider moving to A town and getting a pass at Blue and being a NASTAR pacesetter, then hang out on PASR. She'd have some awesome stories about skiing all over the Great White North.

I think I found her...she's a racer out of the Whistler Club. She skis FIS races (not World Cup on Team Canada). She's a solid all-around racer, with better tech points. Looks like her best FIS points are in GS, with a 104 points; slalom she's had a 110; DH 147; and SG 177. She skied in last year's Canadian Nationals and finished 36th in slalom, but blew out of the GS. Is that her, Rob? Nadia S.?

Ha, she must know better and gave you a bogus name, 'cause there's never been a Nadia on Team Canada. Bitchin' tat, though...that's mighty brave for a chick.

"these bindings alone retail for 350$ new, ski and binding set up new with taxes would run you like 1800$+ so this is a STEAL. Plus you can't buy team issue stock in stores for the most part, and these are waxed in and VERY fast." Wow, I never met anyone that paid $1800 for that setup. It's all great gear when it's new, but I've bought NEW Atomic 6.14 bindings three times in the last year and paid from $75 to $125...she's in a tough spot, since most people that can ski that sort of gear either have the money for new, or are savy enough to know where the bargains are.

I sure as heck wouldn't buy Sib's daughter's used skis...she tears up skis the same as the guys. Or is she saying that she kept buying skis despite being bed-ridden?
