Well, the case law I've studied would look at the text accompanying the coupon and probably say you were wrong. The text that a reasonable person reads states that it's good through the end of the season; is targeted toward getting people to BB for the last runs of the year; and, it's BB job to know they may reduce their regular day rates at the end of the season while still having a coupon out there. The burden of clarity rests heavily on the business, which is partly in thanks to Eddie Antar's "Crazy Eddie's" stores from the 70's and 80's... I thought you had some legal background, 1st Grade... On a Mac keyboard it's "OPTION 6"

The ticket people I've encountered at BB were really nice and it's probably a drag for them to have to deal with people walking in with what should be a valid coupon. Actually, though, Rob, the coupon is designed for the post season---or, better, the late season. It's directed at people getting in their last runs of the year. Just FYI, the code violation is 73 P.S.
-
And, to be extra clear, I'm sure it's just a misunderstanding by BB. I'm sure they aren't doing anything illegal on purpose.

Read the fucking coupon, bud, before you give me shit about it: "Great skiing still awaits you! Diehard ski bums and snow bunnies will want to take advantage of this opportunity to take a last few runs before the season ends. It's easy: snag some discounted fun with this coupon. It's all you need for $10 off day skiing at 21 excellent Pennsylvania resorts. Just print it out and present it when you buy your tickets. Then hit the slopes!" I didn't make BB sign on with this coupon deal. BB made the decision. This deal is CLEARY targeted for people to come take "a last few runs before the season ends". Where the fuck does it say at the end of the season BB isn't included? It's common practice for ski areas to drop prices during the final weeks, so it's TOTALLY misleading to promise a $10 discount for "a last few runs" then deny you when you get to their ticket window. And as far as going to other mountains, well, that is an option. A lot of us have free passes to Belleayre and Hunter, so a real cheap ticket to tiny BB is an actual incentive. Lastly, I wasn't arguing to pay nothing; I was arguing to pay what they promise in writing. And as far as the law goes, it's exactly the definition of a bait and switch: promising one price for a product and service, then removing the discount once you get to the establishment.

Why not? They run nine ski hills in some of the toughest spots to get 'guests'...if they can hype Paoli and have it turn a decent profit, then they probably know what they are doing. Mount Snow, I hate to say, is more in the Camelback league in so far as they'll get visitors no matter what due to the easy access to NYC. To advertise/hype Mount Snow, they just need to post a bus schedule.

Great find, thanks, Rob...I suppose it's a little under the radar because it's Canadian-based. Plus, Canada has had so many problems with their entire national program over the last few years, which includes money for promotion. I think they fired all their coaches last year, too. Maybe the bigger reason, though, is the oldest racers are still just 14. Look at people like Ligety, who wasn't even one of the best on his club team at 14. That Benji Raich and Anja Paerson raced it does say something, though...

Okay, so there's also a WCS for J3's and I vaguely remember a current or recent US Ski Teamer doing really well at them. But here's something off the web: J3 Whistler Cup Selection Procedures The Whistler Cup is a FIS event for Children. It is an event that is held in Whistler, BC every April and consists of one super G, one giant slalom and one slalom for J3s. Western Region has a quota of 3 boys and 3 girls. The selection procedures for this event are the US winners from the Super G, giant slalom and slalom from the J3 Junior Olympics. If the same person wins more than one event, then the US winner of the combined will be chosen. If the quota of 3 still has not be filled, then US silver medalists will be chosen in order of lowest race points. In the event of a race(s) cancellation, the remaining races will be used for selection. If only one race is held the best three placings will be selected (In the event of multiple ties in the first two positions when only one race is held, a coin toss will determine the selection among those tied for the last position). And for the J4's: J4 Whistler Cup Selection Procedures The Whistler Cup is a FIS event for Children. It is an event that is held in Whistler, BC every April and consists of one giant slalom and one slalom for J4s. Western Region has a quota of 2 boys and 2 girls. The selection procedures for this event are the US winners from the giant slalom and slalom from the J4 Festival.

IDK, but unless it's for lack of snow, I can't imagine a Whistler Cup Shootout not at Whistler...
-
I honestly don't recall specifics, but I believe the Whistler Cup Shootout is for J4's...I also don't know all the qualifiers, but there's only one Shootout---which, of course, is in Whistler. Some of the best J4's in the world show up...
-
Hell no, Rob, that's a Sno Mountain skier in 6th...they kick ass!!! BTW, this wasn't the Whistler Shoot Out, but the Future Stars up at Sunday River...the Whistler event is a huge, international gig...

Uh, and as I'm sure Glenn would like me to point out, the "pulp" thing is strictly in theory...

Although the coupon says it cannot be combined with any other discounts, it would be ILLEGAL for BB not to honor it. The coupon states that it's for diehard skiers and boarders looking for a few late season turns at 21 specific resorts. When a ski area drops their full price tickets, they can't simply reject circulated coupons that they contracted with. The late season price is not a discount, but full price for that day. The literature markets specifically to get customers to the mountain right up to the end of the season. No ill will toward BB, but this would be a classic "bait and switch" crime. So I'm sure someone in the office just made an honest mistake on the phone.

Hahahahahahahahaha!!!! You're second sport is FISHING? It's cool that you are willing to admit that, especially after bashing the most popular sport on the planet. BTW, I played soccer from U8 through four years of college, am married to a woman, and could beat you to a pulp in roughly twenty seconds. Fishing? I bet you're good at casting with all the "stuff" you do at home with your right arm. Fishing? How many miles do you run to prep for it? Hahahahahah! Do you hit the weight room, too? BTW, im rick, do you mind if I post one of your studly pics? Ah, here goes:

Or maybe they are some of the one's he and Greg were trying to hand out on a PASR day none of us lameass people showed up for... See you Sat. Jeff?

I think it's an interesting argument, whether to drop SG. I think they want to increase the Super Combined events, for one thing. The old greats like Stenmark and Killy both used to rag on combined events, calling them a complete waste of time and a joke. Seems like it's the future of ski racing, in a way, especially since they figured out a method for evening out the chances between slalom and DH specialists. As you know, with two slalom runs, a downhiller had no chance of winning and entered just to bottom feed some points. I remember being amazed when they first proposed SG, since FIS is so slow to make changes, let alone add a discipline. Be careful what you say about waist steering, or you risk having your pets mysteriously disappear in the night.

Thanks, Schif!!!!!

Cool that it was only 10 minute lines for you...friends of our's spent most of their time in lines at MC. I guess it depends when you go. But I'm a surfer and don't really get into water parks. A big low pressure system that makes a turn just off the coast is my sorta water fun.

There's been some serious talk from within the FIS of getting rid of the Super G event. Their argument is that it was an extra discipline for speed event skiers, but now that so many racers are in all events, it clutters the schedule needlessly. Ligety blew a million dollars in winning incentives this year...Bode lost more. I think they are licking their wounds---er, drowning their wounds instead of doing much celebration. There were incentives to win individual races and to win the Overall, but nothing for compiling enough points for the SG globe---just too many cancelled races. But you do know this news is almost a month old, right? Hey, Rob, have you noticed the negative tone he's had toward NASTAR? Nothing overt, but definitely a big change. And he blew of the Nationals...must be pissed that Madsen won't let him sell his DVD via NASTAR. Just my guess, though...

Ha, it's not even built and you've decided nobody wants to come? Funny. Just curious, but what does MC have that Sno will not that will entice people to drive 70 miles instead of 10? I don't think Sno Cove is looking to get a bunch of people from Brooklyn---at least I hope not...and as far as I'm concerned, going to places like Sesame Place and Disney are something to suffer through because of the crowds. I'd rather go to a crappy carnival than wait two hours to on a 40 second ride, but a parent sometimes has to suck it up.
