C'mon, now it's time to suck it up and admit you were wrong about this one...don't make me put you on the Sno ban list, too...

The North American openers were NOT broadcast in the US. I believe NBC had live coverage when they went down to Beaver Creek after Lake Louise. Not really a "Gotcha Moment", is it 1st Grade? I posted same day results in a header because it wasn't being broadcast live; on tape-delay; or, on an internet feed. There was NO way to watch this race in America within a week of it happening. So where does that leave your arguement? And why do you want to argue? Okay, go back and try to find something else. I have over 6 thousand post, so there's got to be something.
-
Two things: 1. Did you know that the feeds began THIS year and not last year, let alone the '04-'05 season? 2. How long did you have to go through old posts to find something that I just shot down in four seconds?

The phone message said noon and at some point so did the website. If someone was heading up from Philly on a late spring day and didn't call or check the website that day---especially since "tentative, check ahead" was written everywhere---then I'd have to say tough shit to anyone that wasted a four hour drive. Jeffy and Doug took offense to me giving Sno total props for turning on 193 snow guns four days before closing. Either that, or you guys were jealous that it wasn't something Booter did. Imagine what you guys would have said if Blue Mountain had turned on EVERY snow gun right before closing? Tell me with a straight face you wouldn't have rubbed it in to Cbers... You sure wouldn't have been calling it glue and saying how rotten it was going to be. And the "Sno needs to do better next year" was a continuation. Exactly why do they need to do better next year? Call people in Philly when they change the closing time? Posting it and having it on the phone message isn't enough? So here's the deal: I have officially banned Jeff and Doug from Sno Mountain. You guys can come up to Sno Cove once, but Doug's not allowed in the pools (he knows why). Don't complain and don't try and talk me out of it, or I'll make it a lifetime ban.

Ha, I had to talk my way past a Yellow Jacket to get a run in...I just went over for a couple quick one's anyway, so it was no big deal. They closed for lack of people, not for any other reason. They had made so much snow on Smoke that they could have kept the connections open for a couple of more weekends. They tapped the upper headwall on Smoke for Saturday. One thing you can really say about the new guns: they work. One thing you can really say about the new owners: they get it. My bud that drives one of the shuttles said something funny to us yesterday: "See you in November!"

Ha, Nick, I didn't mean race as in race...that's just the way we non-park people ski...you get off the lift, then try to get back on the lift as fast as you can.
-
IDK, I got there around 11:30 and it seemed perfect to me. I think it was 46 degrees, give or take. I did a bunch of laps, then ran into Nick and we raced down Cannonball once and that was just as good.

You bet! Best I could do with a little point and shoot, though.... That chick in the hula skirt that went totally under was pretty cool. Best, though, was the snow crew guy on a board that drenched the judge and two women.

Boomer as fast and white as it comes... Recharging...
-
Why ouch? Wasn't it frozen granular at Vail, Whistler, and Park City this morning? Oh, I get it
-
Cool, Nick...shame Doug and Jeffy won't make the trip up...
-
Ha, Nick, doing jumps instead of pre-jumping them to NOT catch air? What's up with that? Get Sean and we'll do a Chinese Downhill on FT!
-
They'll make enough off the Moose Beach to be able to indulge the skiers/boarders...rumor has it that the high speed is ordered, but there will never be that many people that they need more than one.

I'm gonna watch you guys pond skim... Actually, Ty has a Brownie thing until 2pm that her mom is taking her to, so I'm skiing from noon until then with Kat, then going to tool around the upper slopes with Ty. It's going to be a great day. Doug: the new owner isn't really looking at the bottom line. Sure, he and his buds want to make money, but their priority is to create the best ski area in the Poconos (eh, and Endless Mountains)...as I said, a couple of dads from the CAT race team bought a mountain and want to do the right thing. And those guys fucking rock! Oh, and even though they'll probably close Sunday, the NF could remain open for weeks...

I had to shoot a lacrosse game in Wayne, NJ, so didn't get to the hill until almost 8pm...then left just before closing (I had to burn a CD and get my pics shipped).

Okay, so after years of CB passes and broken promises and baloney followed by bullshit, I was a little concerned that Sno would have me eating crow for being so jazzed about the promise that they had made snow. I mean, who the hell makes snow right before closing? And, it would be just enough to fill in the bad spots around the lifts, right? Nope. Sno Mountain made from 6 inches to THREE FEET of snow on almost every freaking trail. The groomers let it set up, then they even dusted the top of Boomer, which is something I've only seen Hunter and Okemo do. I pulled into the lot a little before 8pm and was a little nervous until I finally saw someone get off the Phoebe---it was that empty. But while I booted up, a bunch of cars came flying into the lot. It was 48 degrees... The bad spots at the top of Phoebe and down to Boomer were fixed. They blew a lot of snow and then squeezed the connection trail: I hit Boomer first, which had what Craig likes to call "wet packed powder" down the left side, then fast corn snow everywhere else. I made first tracks down the left side and took three more quick runs down it. View looking up Boomer at the "wet powder": View looking down Boomer: Next, I hit Smoke, which has an amazing amount of snow on the headwall---maybe five feet. Most of the bumps are gone, which is the way I like it. Smoke's upper headwall: Then I cruised down to Cannonball, which had a foot of groomed new snow on it. It was super fast and the best trail of the night. I took the Phoebe up to the Iron Horse, just to check out the upper slopes. Switch is pretty beat, although they made lots of snow on the headwall above the start house. There were about 30 kids in the park and it looked like they'd made quite a bit of snow. The kids were also hitting the pipe. I did one quick run down Whistler, which has lots of new snow, then went over to Upper Runaway. UR was nuts, with more than a foot of new snow. Why would they have bothered? Crazy. Upper Runaway is a green circle type slope that's flat and super wide. I headed down UR to Lower Runaway and the coverage was terrific. There were corduroy marks down the left side and it was fast down the right side. I ran into two other members of the Racewax.com Ski Team, as well as one of our rivals, and did another lap down Boomer, before hitting WL. WL has medium bumps down the first 2/3's, then a ton of snow at the base. The three guys I was skiing with, who all work at Sno, also could not believe that management had pulled out all the stops and made so much snow. I was absolutely blown away by the conditions...it was like skiing a mid-winter night that just happened to turn really warm following a snowstorm. One of the best nights of the season and the weekend will be awesome
-
Hahahah, HATER! I'm heading over for a couple of hours. BTW, maybe that's not melting snow you feel in your hand.
-
Yes, of course Sno blew snow last night. It was cold. So, I guess, congratulations that Booter didn't make snow and end up ruining your conditions

:rock :rock :rock

Beautiful white snow like our opening days at Belleayre, as compared to brown, rock and mud mixed corn...suffering through months of those crowds have made you nuts
-
Mmmm, semi-glaciated snow from two months ago...
-
If enough people were to show up this weekend...which they won't. And definitely not Jeff and Doug, since they now can't stand the thought of skiing in freshly blown snow when it's warm the next day. That damn unskiable glue! Much better to ski on Booter's rocks and mud. Yeah, those sunny, warm days after a snowstorm are just the worst... You guys can't come up with a better reason Blue isn't making snow for the last weekend? You're gonna stick with the story that it makes for worse skiing? Gotta tell ya, guys, that's sorta :tinfoil:
