I had a real quick sports assignment for AP...that can be one long mother of a drive to make on a regular basis. Not as bad as Maine or Northern NH, I suppose. But anyway...moving on...

We have some history, 1st Grade...but we're leaving it as history. BTW, did I run into you in upstate NY this past weekend?
-
Ah, you're a total badass, TP4!! And, yeah, nick there's something different about not using poles...it's pretty amazing what happens to World Cup-level racers when they lose a pole---they weigh next to nothing and aren't even used after the first gate in a downhill, but it still costs them like 5 seconds just because it feels different. With little kids, though, it's just one too many things to think about.

That was the edit...he visits various MB's and searches his name to see who is talking about him. So I can't really say, other than he invented time travel, the polio vaccine, and all things having to do with NASTAR.
-
Hey, 1st Grade! I bet you're right and that was pretty much my suggesting to the person that pointed it out to me...just send a link to NASTAR. I've tried to steer clear of that site since Dr*n*w threatened to beat me up.

You have to be an idiot to take your kid through a park on a leash...although I was teaching one of Ty's friends to ski when Sno first opened and Highball was still closed, so we had no choice but to ski down Mainline (the only open green circle), which the jibbers had made a bunch of hits on...I suppose I get the same feeling with the majority of boarders not named Zaldon/Glenn/Mark/TP4/et al that wander onto White Lightning...

Jeez, Kragan, blueish/clear is ideal for certain extreme, low light night conditions...no wonder you having issues. Preferences from person to person change, but the best all-around lens color is generally considered the persimmon, or yellowish/orange. I prefer a more yellow lens because I have night races, but all my other goggles are persimmon. My fav are the Oakley A-Frames...

He's in my age class forever Congrats, JP!

Someone sent me an email about this, saying what a bummer it was and how it just undercuts the entire concept of being able to compare handicaps...just for the record, the lowest handicap pacesetter at Sno won't even set pace when he's put in a full day's work on the slopes because he's not at his best. And then shit like this happens at another resort: http://www.nastar.com/index.jsp?pagename=r...p&year=2007 It doesn't effect me, nor would I care if it did...but using the last race of the season to give away a golden day and screw with what a lot of other people across the state and country have worked for sucks. For those that don't follow it: this particular pacesetter took a very slow run of 29.35 on a nice, sunny Saturday afternoon. Then, he got back on the course and crushed his own time by 2.35 seconds. Doing this, he dropped his own handicap from 15 to a 5, as well as allowing everyone else during that day to have amazingly low handicaps. What would a a reasonable improvement for a decent ski racer from one run to the next? Maybe knocking off .25, or .50 at most. But this guy knocked off over two full seconds...I wonder if it was a coincidence that his mom raced that day? This was the same pacesetter that gave out a golden day during the first race of the season, dropping three seconds off his own pace time to get a 3 handicap...apparantly NASTAR busted him for that and recalculated the race.

riderossi: do you really work at Sno? How come you've never said 'HEY'?
-
Thanks, guys... She gets to use her poles every once in a while, but they get in the way of her learning to carve. It's cool that she's totally independant with them, but she also starts to use them like bug antenna, or skiing up behind me and hitting me.
-
...I tried to keep her off the diamonds, but she promised to clean her room, not be mean to me, do her homework without being told, and feed her cat every day... March 12, 2007, is now the greatest freaking day ever...

EH, SLIGHTLY HIGHER THAN THE TRAILS.

You know, the answer to your problem is simple: stop forgetting it. Then, no petitions, no hassles, no worries.

Pffft..it's just his OG's way of showing some hate. He pops in to hate on Sno, now it's to hate on the boilerplate that is Booter. Yeah, Old Geezer, wax will really give you that added grip your looking for on ice. BTW, I haven't hit a single patch of ice at Sno all year...and that's not a joke, but because of the new owners.
-
Metzy, you should watch the guy (Steve) you finished right behind in both runs...he's a friend of mine from multiple camps...he's a really solid racer. You def. picked it up. If you watch him race, you'd wonder how the hell you came so close to him---which is a good thing.

Even though there were a lot of people for the USSA races, I bet today was a record for March...there were actually buses in the lot and it was a bitch to park in a decent spot. Maybe we'll make it past 4/1... Anyway, the snow is holding up fine. Nothing resembling a bare spot and even the unofficial woods trails are still covered. The snow was mashed potatoes and slow as hell until the sun started to drop---typical spring conditions. We saw Nick doin' some crazy 540's off the big kicker and even Sean didn't seem quite ready to give up his pass.
-
Great job, Metzy...you also had to run the course in it's worst condition. I have to admit that we took bets on your first run time and you cost me $20---I had you at a minute flat (eh, because I figured you'd have blue ice into bad ruts)...
-
Nah, you just pass out a little then wake up and catch up again. Good as new.

Congrats on a top 30 finish in both slalom and GS during Finals, 'Dude! Overall, the 30th best skier in PA...so we know there are at least 30 great skiers in the state, for sure. Great job, Adam! Kick ass at Cannon!

Congrats to a PASR lurker---Mike---who rode Dr. D's wax to first place in last night's Sno Mountain Thursday Night Race League, as well as our own Bobert540 who claims to have no racing background, but has been either beating or threatening NASTAR pacesetter times every since chucking his twintips in the trash and hopping on Volkl P60's... Sno Mountain's race staff does an amazing job of getting great courses set no matter what the weather, which makes it something you can count on. I've raced in beer leagues where you always had to call the night before to see if it was a 'go'. This was the final week of racing, but independants will again be welcome next season. It's also a secret way for someone to both try the course as well as have a cheap night of skiing. Race entry is just $8 and the all mountain lift tickets is just $7...but you have to be sure to get your race runs in or they call Camelback Rangers to come up and kick your ass off the hill. Thanks again to Jim (who chicks really dig) from Sno for inviting us to his course and thanks to Dr. D for making some smoking fast waxes... See you guys next season!

Yep, but only in extra large...

In his second WC start of the season (he blew out of last week's GS) Andrew Weibrecht will be competing in tomorrow's Super Combined at Kvitfjell, Norway. His bib # for the downhill portion is 59. Andrew did pretty good at the Nor Ams last month at Sib's home hill, finishing 3rd, 3rd, and 4th, but he's struggled in Europe. Hopefully, he'll uncork one and gain that ellusive confidence. Some CAT Team members might remember meeting him at the Whiteface Alumni races...nice kid and easy to root for.
