  1. Yeah, maybe if I get hit by a meteor. Oh, wait, that turned out to be a bad thing to say...You've taken me in about a dozen straight races, but you're streak is coming to an end. No way you're walking into my house and leavin' with your chocolate beer...nope.
  2. The women are in great battle for the Overall Cup...Mancuso is 3rd and Kildow is 5th...they are sandwiched by four Austrians, who are 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 6th. There's a great chance Mancuso will take the title. The US women were expected to be a little deeper, but Resi Steigler just hasn't regained confidence from an injury. She's my favorite behind, Austrian Hosp. Resi skied in the Slush Cup last spring at Elk---she had to hike for a gate. She's barely hanging on to the top 30... There are no men running away with the Overall....Svindal and oldtimer Didier Cuche are 1-2, with Bode hanging on to third. Overall favorite Benny Raich is 5th, while Maier is 12. Ted Ligety has been disappointing, currently in 11th. Right now, the popularity is on the women's side...no star has emerged this year and people are sick of Bode's crap...that's from the Euro press, not me. All in all, the US women are equal to the Austrians...the US men are just flat and seem to be missing something. I thought US DH specialist Steve Nyman would have had a great year, but he seems to make two mistakes on every course. If Bode can stay on his feet in slalom, he'll take the title...but every race, he just doesn't hold it together. Luckily, though, the rest of the field has struggled with horrible conditions in Europe, too. Just my 2 cents.

    Smoke

Yeah, 'Dude, what Sno said... The first headwall is very short and steep, then you have a straight forward compression. Maybe to jog your memory, this is right under the top of the NF lift. This headwall is very wide, so it doesn't feel that steep without gates. The compression is a flat that will last no more than a couple of gates, but this will be the key to the race, since it puts you into a totally blind headwall---you have to set yourself up just right or you'll be late and low. There's a not too drastic left turn with this transition. That headwall is a short version of Cliffy, but you start to bend to the left again, just at the base. Then it's straight through the flats to the finish. Should be a quick, but very interesting race. You HAVE to do this race, 'Dude!!!

    Snowed by rangers

IDK, I had have to say that a boarder has to be really talented to get a sled down a steep pitch...it's just harder to do with a board. Is that even argueable? Just look at how many cm of edge a boarder uses as compared to a skier...it isn't even close. So maybe it's better said that snowboarding patrollers have to be better than your average patroller to do the same job. I know too many cool patrollers to rag on them (that's what Sean is for, anyway)...but I've never met a Ranger that I didn't think was a knob. It's probably just as well that Glenn doesn't know the Ranger that did it...a lot of people would have made bad things happen to that Ranger.

The real benefit of UA is that it lets you slide a speed suit on no matter how many chicken wings and six packs you had the night before.
  8. Thanks, Jeff. And I promise to ignore everything else he says.
  9. Just to get the facts straight, DH...the first time he did it, I asked him relatively nicely. The second time, I called him names. Then, we seemed to work it out, until---out of the blue---he posts "game back on" like a fucking psycho. He's made it clear that he will not stop. He made it clear that nobody can stop him. Next time some idiot keeps poking you, remember to just enjoy it and not flame any fires. Yeah, that'll work. BTW, I was just told by an admin that 1st Grade is welcome to continue to post results in headers. He wins. Racers will just avoid the MB Fri through Sunday. No big deal.
  10. People pay for a service that he is purposely spoiling. You think my asking him to stop is blowing it out of proportion? He's now done it three straight weeks. Interesting that you don't find it a dickhead thing to do.
  11. Ha, you're suggesting we put these ass clowns on a race course down Smoke? Sounds like fun! Because of staffing, there would be a chance to get a Friday race down Smoke this season, but not enough PASRers could make it. They do plan on moving the start house on Switch to the top of the headwall, which will make that course pretty cool. They wanted to do it this year, but ran out of time. So it's a dual GS on the Switch NASTAR course... AND I PICK JEFFY TO RACE...if he's not too scared of me.
  12. So you got it, DH? Even someone who doesn't give a crap about racing understands that posting a nationality in a header is posting a result? Just to be a asshole to me, 1st Grade makes PASR a place no serious racer will ever want to check out. Everyone that follows the World Cup knew that Lindsey and Julia had great start numbers for that track (26 and 29), which gave them a great shot at a podium. So is there a mod or admin that cares to fix the problem? It's 1st Grade or any hope of having racers around...I tried to ask him nicely and it doesn't work.
  13. Ha, it made the Sno web guy religious: "Hallelujah" There's a rumor that The Great Oz, eh, I mean Greg, is currently working out the final details of a Sno Mountain PASR Day...it should include the group discount price ticket and a very cool dude in the race department might set a dual GS race course on the NASTAR hill just for us....sounds like it could be a good mix of fun and violence.
  14. check this out

Yeah, at least one of our pacesetters is going down for the trials...man, you know things are screwy when trials are in February. We're all gonna root for him to ski a 4

BTW, it looks bad for me for next Thursday...gotta hope for a snow day for Roxbury HS, in Joisey. Should be fine after that, as my basketball games wind down. It really sucked sitting in a high school gym while you guys were hitting gates. Basketball is f*cking stupid.( Sorry, Schiff...I was pretty moody about it tonight.

Holy crap, the Blue pacesetter has a 26.51 HC...you guys aren't seein' any platinum this season. Great time, Jeffy, you were right on the tails of an ASRA guy that kills me.
  21. No, I'm clearly stating that the sport of skiing had become so tired and expensive and static, that by the mid-80's, many PA ski areas were on the verge of closing. Then came snowboarding, followed by kids that wanted to do the same terrain on skis... Dude, I skied Vernon Valley/Great Gorge 100's of times and they are the ultimate example of a resort saved by "obnoxious" kids. VV/GG was probably the most pathetic ski area in America, right after the Playboy Club closed. So if you 'invite' a thousand teenagers---mostly boys---to your business, you want them to be sure to check their attitude in the parking lot? There's no difference in what they are doing today, compared to when we were jumping off the lift at CB and Shawnee. Funny how ski areas used to have NO JUMPING signs absolutely everywhere. CB actually had a sign that said: "Leave the ground and leave your ticket". I know, because I stole one of them. Eh, I mean my friend stole it. So I'm really just saying that as long as resorts are welcoming the influx of money from these kids, then they need to grow a thicker skin and laugh some of the bullsh*t off. Yes, there are more teenage park rats out there than ever, but they even practice a kind of self-isolation by hanging where they do. Don't want the families to have to endure these kids, then make sure your newbie park is next to the beginner slopes. And if it's just that you are sick of reading MB posts, I'd suggest looking at the bigger picture: 15 and 16 year old kids using technology to create change in corporate America. You can mock that, but I think it's pretty accurate. There's no problem that isn't easily solved with out having to sound like Mr. Vernon: And if you really think whinney, me-first behavior is exlusive to park rats, then you probably haven't yet raised a teenager. (No offense, Zonked. I love you and you're perfect ) This isn't my battle, so that's my last bit of input. (BTW, thanks, Glenn ---I'd missed seeing that 'til just now.)

    100% open

Ha, Easy Street...the last time that was open, Ty was still on a leash. Imagine how much effort it takes to blow and groom that goofy little trail...and how much time it takes for the red coats to keep stringing tape at all the entrances and exits when the coverage gets too bad...I bet that trail gets a major change next year.
  23. Go think about someone else...maybe enjoy an unspoked moment?
  24. You researching a book on me, 1st Grade? I'm flattered and creeped out at the same time. Maybe you should just collect Beannie Babies, or something. And just to be clear, I never called Rob's kid, or anyone besides 1st Grade a f%$king r@t@rd. I admit I stole the colorful phrase from Ridge. Wait, hang on a second...there's someone out on my back deck...I'm gonna go take a look...
  25. Sorry, Ben, but if you truly want to be 'read' as a thoughtful and intelligent person, as opposed to someone sounding like a Frasier Crane impression, I'd suggest you learn some more facts regarding the recent history of these entitlement seeking kids. What's your best guess on what the economic situation would be for PA hills without the influx of these "entitled" snowboarders? And then the jibbers that forced there way into pipes/parks with twintips, despite the early ban on skis on those slopes... At least understand that Sno, Alpine, Tanglwood, Bear Creek, NJ's Mountain Creek, and possibly a few others, would be long ago bankrupt. I suggest you consider a modicum of gratitude to go along with your dismissive sarcasm. The Poconos survived because of these 'sense of entitlement' Ass Clowns.
