Well, if you're that old guy, BITE ME... (J/K) Looked like they were finally getting the park a little closer to opening...it wasn't that many days ago that the webcam was showing just grass at the lift off-loading, but those old Areco fan guns don't exactly pile up the snow. We have the same one's at our little hill.

I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with Trevor's opinion, Jeff. I just teach (photography lectures) and coach (soccer and baseball) with the same method of positive reinforcement. The only player I've ever yelled at was Ty...such is the life of the coach's kid. And I know that everything is totally casual on here and it's not a great comparison, but I'd pull apart Nick's edit and tell him five specific things that were good, then ask him to tell me what he didn't like about some other shots. But that's even assuming he gives a crap what I, or anyone else thinks. Hell, I don't know Nick other than he has much more hair than Metzy and is an awesome jibber. And the vid did capture an amazing moment, with the exchange between a patroller and Sean; that was priceless and doesn't happen very often (eh, well, maybe for Sean it does). I would have loved it if the photog had started walking toward the patroller and Sean during the exchange, just to see if the patroller started to tell him to stop shooting, or whatever. A camera is always a good way to escalate a problem like that.

I mean it's cool that freeridintre is stepping up on this...jeez, Metzy suddenly has a calendar more booked than a prom queen (hey, speaking of new usernames!) and Rob sounds like he forgot the Poconos aren't in Nevada.
-
Jeez, freeridintre, your critique only left out how fat and ugly Nick's dead great-grandma was, despite the years of painful cancer operations that only left her weekends to waste time helping at her church.
-
Hahahahahahaahah...Sno, my bro, you're definitely headed to Hell. See ya there! That was fu*cking hilarious! BTW, I've skied with that guy a few times...next time I see him, I'm telling him you pack heat, so he should be lucky he's alive.
-
Okay, so far it's: Jeff v. freeridintre Metzy v. Rob There's actually an old rule that the PASR founders had put in place that if anyone backs out of a challenge, the opposing person gets to pick a new username for them that they have to keep for 30 days. For example, if Metzy backs out, Rob would get to pick a new name for him. BTW, this was also just for NASTAR challenges, which was to keep from having things muddied up and to keep those being challenged from trying to weasel out.
-
Jeez, that sucks...hope he's okay. And I hope they at least got it on video. Sometimes an awesome wreck can get more mileage than the original trick.

The crappy weather in Europe cancelled the most prestigious race of the year, which is the Kitzbuehel downhill on 1/26. The SG was also cancelled. The next races for the men should be the Kitzbuehel slalom next weekend. I believe Kitzbuehel also picked up a slalom from a cancellation at Wengen...there's also lousy weather in Switzerland. Bode has four wins this year, a second, two fourth places, a 12th and a 14th...to go along with 11 DNF's in 20 races. Just facts, no opinion.
-
Rob, stop hijacking my hate 1st Grade thread...it's not very polite of you. Just quick picking on Jeff. Why can't you two just get along?
-
Oh, no, Timeless, I was just kidding...remember that I'm the crazy guy around here. So, yes, Timeless, there is a Santa Claus.

20 grams will do your skis at least twice, with a heavy coating. Some people get four wax jobs out of it. Just to add, I used Dr. D's Fluoromax Cold in this weekend's ASRA races and beat some of my friends pretty solidly that I'm usually neck and neck with.
-
Cool that you had a good time...imagine how it'll be next season with a top to bottom high speed quad and FOUR mile long trails that dump you down into the North Face. Those scanners are just goofy, eh?
-
Yeah, Big, it's a little like they've been in panic mode, blowing absolutely everything. The night Sno Mountain Skier had such a rotten night, we all had to walk from the Iron Horse lift up to the shuttle bus after we were done--and they had guns pointed at you where you had to walk. Kind of nuts.
-
That's CLEARLY a challenge. Trash talking on behalf of someone else is still trash talking. Jeffy v. freeridintre I'll take Jeffy and am willing to give 2 seconds for $10 on Booters NASTAR. Any takers?
-
Yeah, sorry, I meant Booter on Thursday nights...my bad.
-
It's kind of funny now, but it scared the crap out of me at the time...snowboarders probably won't appreciate it at all, but the next time you are skiing, try making a high speed turn on the outside edge of your uphill ski (or, a left turn using only your left ski)...it happens about 14 seconds in, just at the base of the headwall:

Here's a link to NASTAR's page that shows times/slopes/dates: http://www.nastar.com/index.jsp?pagename=wheretorace#PA Blue and CB are both on Raceway...same name, different mountains. Both courses are longer and far better than BC's old course. IDK what the new BC course is like, but it's listed as Timberline. Someone else can give you better info as to whether that's old or new. The 'expected' par time is only 17 seconds, so it looks to be really short. Blue's NASTAR course is usually a little more challenging than CB's...not by much, but you drop into a fairly steep headwall right out of the start. CB's course has a nice, consistant pitch that even little kids can easily navigate. A lot of PASR people hit the CB course on Thursday nights...

We all missed you, 'Mom...20 or so people asked where you were.

The current top to bottom skiing entails making a long skate at the bottom of Mainline down to the NF. Without Upper Fast Track or Upper Runaway, Spike (which is still closed) is the only easy way to connect to the North Face. Right now, it's probably best to do some laps on Switch or Whistler, then go down and do some laps on the North Face. And even if two TTB slopes were open, I'd still tell people to stay off the Long Haul chair and, instead, do Phoebe Snow to Iron Horse...I just don't trust Long Haul not to break down. Bad memories. As to snowmaking capacity, I'm not so sure the Sno website is just hyperbole...I was amazed at how many guns were firing at once. I've never seen so much snow being made at once at CB, Booter, or any other resort except for Hunter. So far, Sno Mountain LLC has done exactly what they promised---just later, because of the lawsuit. Locals should appreciate the solitude for the rest of this year, then part of next. There's no way Sno isn't going to more than triple skier visits during the '08 season.

It wasn't me that removed the "ban" of using the "F Bomb". Look closely and you'll find it was mostly the repeated use of it by the teens on this MB that unofficially lifted the prohibition...and as long as it's not used in a sexual context, I see the point: who cares? It's just a word. If you were a race fan and not just an angry person with a chip on his shoulder, you would understand that posting results in headers was on par with stealing skis. It's also on par with telling little kids there is no Santa Claus. So I can see where you enjoy spoiling it for everyone. So you are being a "sports reporter" by cutting and pasting results? You feel that putting a result in a header is helpful? Has anyone ever said thank you for doing it? Go do it on TGR and be sure to add your phone number for people to call and congratulate you on that bright idea. Let us know what the general response is... This has long been such a beaten horse. I don't even know why it's become my responsibilty to repeatedly ask you to stop ruining things. Just yesterday, I was talking to some friends from ASRA that lurk on this MB and they could not figure out what your problem was. They didn't know much about PASR other than this discussion. Six or seven people with a passion for ski racing were turned off to PASR because one guy gave away results in headers. Think I'm making that up? Come to any ASRA race and listen to them talk about the "jerk" that thinks he's doing people a favor. I know I've asked you nicely and I know I've asked you angrily...but can you please just set aside whatever personal issues you feel you have with me and leave results inside the post? That's all I'm asking.

(...left speechless...)

I was nice to you at first, 1st Grade. I stuck up for you when people were ready to smack you in the head. I cut you slack because you claimed to work in a school district that I'm pretty familiar with. I'm just taking the time right now to once again explain something that I'm sure you already know, but I don't give a crap how nasty your response is...I just expect crap out of you. So here's the deal: regular season World Cup isn't the fucking Super Bowl. The Olympics gets some same day press and it's impossible to avoid results. But for the last 10 years, it's been very easy to avoid hearing/reading results. It's rarely on Yahoo's main page (maybe twice in the last few years). And it's never on ESPN, ESPN2, or any other tv station. They don't run a ticker at the bottom of ESPN that says Didier Cuche won a SuperG. Ever. To find results of World Cup racing, people have to HUNT for it. I asked for you to avoid putting results in headers. Inside a post, write whatever the hell you want. Discuss Bode for pages, if you want. But saying Hot Tub Girl Takes it to Hosp is not World War II Nazi encryption....it means the "Lange" girl we just discussed and watched video of beat the current World Cup leader. It was posting a result in a header, right after we asked you to not do it. People paid money to catch the same day feed and you ruined it, just like you threatened. That was so uncool...it was malicious and you should be banned, in my opinion. What you did was on par with stealing skis or a board. So once again: post whatever you want and say whatever you want inside a thread, but leave results out of a header. Just how that fucking diminishes what you post is beyond me. And that's exactly why we all know you did it on purpose. Eh, that and the fact that you said you were going to do it. And if you just can't help yourself, wait a day or two and post 20 headers about Bode's next fall. Now, me and the other World Cup race fans will crawl back into our holes and carefully avoid all the breaking news on CBS showing some French guy winning the next combined race in Slovenia. So you can stop worrying how hard we must have it. Okay, the floor is your's...hate away...
-
So you are suggesting I skip Bode's wins and only post when he crashes? Pfffft...look around a little before you start shit: http://www.paskiandride.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=7347 This is how I described it: "Bode absolutely smoked the field in what's generally considered the second most prestigious downhill event, The Lauberhorn, in Wengen, Switzerland." Was that fair enough to Bode for you?
-
I have to tell ya, Sno, that you're sort of a crazy motherf*cker...eh, in a good way of course. At today's Twood race, some guy was skiing down next to the race course while Bernie (THE Bernie) was on-course. Bernie is pretty much an all-world racer that, despite his slight build, would kill you on impact. And the guy is within three feet of the gates. About a dozen racers that were waiting around the finish area to watch Bernie rip are yelling and waving at the guy to get away from the course, but he totally ignores them and Bernie almost clips him. I was just finishing getting my ski pants back over my race suit, so I wasn't yelling at him, but the old guy skis up to me and says, "I have a season pass and know what I'm doing, so FUCK you, asshole." IDK, Sno, shit happens everywhere.
