  1. She has a great personality.
  2. You're calling me a little girl because you screwed up and posted results in a thread header? You are just about the only person on the planet that doesn't you never do that. If someone wants to know the results of a race, they can go to fis-ski.com, or skiracing.com and find out. They don't need to rely on First Grade Teacher posting it in a headline. Here's a tip: post whatever you want inside the message, but put a warning in the header. Or, wait two days and post whatever you want in the headline. But a lot of us watch 'same day coverage' that isn't available until up to 24 hrs after the race. Just because you FEEL like it doesn't effect anyone that you posted it in the headline, doesn't mean that's true. Okay? Got it? Or does it disrupt your life and love of posting about ski racing too much? And the Bode arguement is tired and old. My 6 yr old's favorite racer is Nicole Hosp, so Bode's boozing doesn't have any impact on my family. But maybe if you ever have a kid, you'll understand a little better. Right now, you're completely clueless. And, btw, 1st Grade, what did I ever do to piss you off? Why throw all this hate at me, calling me a little girl and shit? WTF is that about?
  3. USSA has specific course setting requirements, but ASRA does not. The hill tends to dictate how a course is set more than anything. Just think about it: TWood is probably the hardest ASRA course to set, since it's so narrow, has a steep headwall, then the long flat. A setter needs to keep the speed down on the headwall, yet allow for enough speed to carry through the flats. And then the Go-Pro narrows it down even more. So the turn radius is less of a concern than are speed factors. ASRA also takes safety issues into consideration, since there's no safety netting, as is required by USSA. They don't send a racer toward a tree at 30 mph to keep a turn at a specific radius...instead, they move it up or drop it down. An extremely tight GS gate set at 10 mph is totally different when a racer comes into it at 40 mph.
  4. You're probably right, Metzy, but some gates are set at 2 or 3... Tip it hard and release it fast. Shorter turn.
  5. Ha, wow, Rob is the expert on this from his eBay deals gone bad It's the arc of half a circle...so, yes. IDK, I suppose TWood is 12 and Blue is 14, on average. Funny to hear 17m skis are long turn, though. I guess long turn as compaired to slalom.
  6. Some bindings come with lifters (lifters are for raising the binding off the ski to create leverage), but race plates are a separate beast. They have different flex properties. A World Cup SG has something like a minimum turn radius of 33m, so you'd want a stiff race plate that is not hyper responsive to the skier. A typical World Cup GS has gates set at around 22m, so you'd want a softer, more responsive race plate. Most race skis are still sold "flat", I suppose, but the trend it toward an integrated plate and binding. Now, about the term "interface"...
  7. The max stack height was 55mm, but might have been lowered. I used to ski a 58mm ski/plate/binding and you'd be surprised what 3mm can do for you in leverage. But unless you are skiing USSA, USCSA, or NCAA, it doesn't matter, as far as regulations go. Metzy, I know that a woman won Olympic Gold with a new binding/plate setup, then everyone jumped on board with her...but it's my opinion that speed begins with the skis torsional rigidity, length, boot fit, base/edge tuning, then wax setups. Then comes the plate/binding setup, which is important because that's where energy is transfered. I guess I'm just saying that for recreational racing, I'd put having a high end plate at the bottom of my wish list. Again, that's just my opinion from my experience. And I have somewhat limited experience, since all Atomic skis come with smokin' race plates But...I'd trust Dranow or some of the Epic race guys with this question, though. You should probably hit up the NASTAR MB. Repost their response here, though. I'd be interested to read what they have to say.
  8. For those interested and don't have the online WC subscription, here are the upcoming race broadcasts: Sunday 12/3 NBC 1pm Womens GS at Aspen Sunday 12/3 Versus 5pm World Cup Womens SL Sunday 12/3 Versus 6pm World Cup Men Saturday 12/9 CBS 5pm Jeep King of the Mountain Sunday 12/10 Versus 5pm World Cup Mens Super Combined Sunday 12/10 NBC 1pm World Cup Mens DH at Beaver Creek (btw, thanks 'Tre)
  9. I tried to say it a nice way...sort of as a reminder. But posting results in a message board headline the same day as the f*cking race is NOT posting "old news", but spoiling it for people. It was a SHITHEAD thing to do, okay? A simple, "oops, sorry" would have been cool. The rest of your post is your opinion. This is American and you are welcome to an opinion, no matter how uneducated it is. Let's vote for presidents that proudly get BJ's from underlings; let's have all the baseball records held by guys on steroids; and, let's have teachers banging students left and right. Fuck, yeah, it's all about the end result and screw the means. Do you really think it's cool to make the US Olympic Team in five events, drink and party the night before each race, then either fall down or otherwise fail miserably at each opportunity? No, because you're not an idiot. You just want to stir things up. Here's the bottom line: Bode has an amazing natural talent. When he is hungover he falls down and makes lame excuses. When he trains and is focused, he wins and gives fantastic course and strategy information that is useful to kids and everyone else. He's not just a role model for winning, but he can pick apart a race course better than any other racer I've ever listened to. So, when he's a drunken idiot, I have no interest in Bode. When he's sober and focused, he's a treasure trove of knowledge.
  10. Dude, firstly, you realize that some people would rather watch it and not see the results in a thread headline? Secondly, I don't root against Bode. I think he acts like an asshead and is a shitty role model, but I really hopes he finds out that partying all night before races as opposed to listening to his coaches isn't going to extend his race career. So far this season, Bode has finished 41, 29, 14, DNF, DNF, 1st. The two DNF's were yesterday, btw, and I don't remember posting "Hey, 1st Grade, did you see that Bode is washed up?" But would you like to make a bet on the next slalom?
  11. Well, I'm thinking about this Sunday...nobody will be making snow with 50mph winds on Saturday. This weather has been great for Sno, though...and a friend of mine said the higher-up's had openly tossed around the idea of always shooting to be the first Pocono ski area to open, starting next season.
  12. Man, KMart shutting down for a Saturday in December... The airport in Scranton reported a record high of 70 today...the old record was 62. F*cked up.
  13. Hey, Metzy! Going to camp and/or K'Mart openers? There's currently just one 'lightly used' set on eBay. Opening bid $99, plus $20 shipping, with 1 day, 9hrs to go...no bids, yet: http://cgi.ebay.com/Marker-World-Cup-PISTO...1QQcmdZViewItem
  14. I hear ya. Shannon Elizabeth sometimes waxes my skis naked.
  15. I agree totally. I'd put them on eBay with an opening bid of $89 and hope they'd go to $149. The up-side is that they are a great length for the type of skier that would want them. Also, just because a ski was 'introduced' four years ago, doesn't mean it's not better than this year's model. Most times it's nothing more than a new paint job or a small tweak in sidecut dimensions. And, hey, these were made in America, before K2 turned Chinese.
  16. Sno Mountain chief says weather
  17. Results are posted, btw: http://belleayre.com/promotions/featured.htm Congrats Kristeezy

    Sorta funny

Hmmmm...IDK, it'll all be fun and games, then you'll run over the moose. If you thought MC's description of a foot fetish was gross, just get him started on diaper fetishes.
  19. I bet nobody has ever seen you and skierforever in the same room at the same time.

I graduated from law school, then worked for newspapers and NYC news agencies for 15 years. Your hostility toward Mr. Carlson is more than fishy. I guarantee you harbor some personal ill will. Why not own up to it? That, Old Geezer, is gutless. That is something I generally attribute to dusty old men that write countless 'letters to the editor', bitching about, well, every Goddamn thing... How many times---in the last 40 years---have you written a letter to your local paper complaining about Little League taking up space that you want to use to walk your dog (and you don't even own a dog)? You obviously have no interest in any positive outcome for the ski area, since you posted that it should have been shut down if it were losing a million dollars a year. No real skier would ever say that; nobody that ever visited the hill and loved skiing could conceive of such blasphemy. That's like saying runt puppies should be killed with a hammer, even if there are children waiting to adopt them! The mountain formerly known as Montage is the true definition of a Littel Gem that Rocks...eh, with more snowmaking, new lifts, and a few more top to bottom trails, that is. Oh, wait, that's what Mr. Carlson and the rest of SM LLC are bringing to us! You may not have "skin" in this game (wtf does that really mean?), but I do. I have a family here and we chose Montage as the place to raise my next ski racer. After listening to every word and having read every document, I can safely say that I am a self-proclaimed, nearly sober expert in this matter: and Sno Mountain LLC was far and away the best choice for Montage. Strange gloating you say? Why, yes, I am strange and I am gloating. My friends and non-friends on this MB will readily attest to both charges. So the fuck what? We won! I'm now heading into my livingroom where I plan to do a little more late night gloating. And isn't it strange that I just told you that?
  21. Yeah, nothing 'park' about K2 Axis skis. K2 has been making different Axis versions for a few years. A decent, all-mountain sort of ski.
  22. Jeez, no, a great weight lifted from the shoulders of the world when she died. Remember Throw Momma from the Train? "Owen, GET ME A COKE!" Her. Totally.
  23. 1mm is 100% fine. I have three different sets of ski boots (Salomon, Atomic, and Lange), all with different heel to toe lengths (all are 1mm different). I set all my bindings to my race boots, then just click in with my other boots. If you're really concerned, you could always give them 1/4 turn clockwise...
  24. No, Sno has had a freestyle program, with certified coaches, for a couple of seasons. From what I've seen, the Sunnyside Bumblebees are pretty f*cking good. I figured Nick was just some kid with hair my granny would have wanted to run her hands all over---eh, before she died---but Nick is an awesome skier.
  25. Yeah, they have a Darksider-type group... I can't imagine they've made any coaching changes because of the sale. Anyone that's ever spent five minutes around the Steinbachs realize they are around people with a passion for junior ski racing. They are, after all, just a mom and dad of racers, just like the new owner.
