Today, Jeff, Tom, and Dan skied Kmart. Sadly, it was like skiing in PA with a drive. Temps were low enough overnight to leave us with a mix of sugah, boiler plate and firm snow. Still leaving VT with a smile as we knew today wasnt going to be the day yesterday was. We beat the rain and stayed dry. On the way home now. pic of some trails with snow on them. saw Blue dudes again.

Jeff, Tom, Dan skied stratton yesterday afternoon. Mostly cloudy spring snow, with just a little mist for out last runs. 12 people were there. Today Jeff, Tom and Dan skied sugarbush and, boy was it wonderful. Soft down low from the start under sunny skies. Coverage is not as good as last year. Castlerock is pretty bare, as well as some other favs. Tom did Tom stuff, which is ski some trees with some hiking all in the same run. Saw some Blue dudes. gate house on our way out. Jeff and Tom hitting the steps on the way out. kmart tomorrow hopefully for a few hours before the rain sets in.

Hike park on NMDW. $35 tickets.

Enjo's grill was on fire again yesterday. good stuff. skiing was kinda meh, maybe if the weather was a little nicer the score would have gone up, but it was a solid 3.2. it will be super interesting to see what they have in store for this weekend, Main looks finished, Homie stretch has a big dirt stretch in it. Not super impressed with how much snow was left on Vista or Burma. And lower Paradise cant be real good at this point.

Thats a good marketing campaign. so here is the rub.....if the weather is calling for rain all weekend, do they open on a day they would normally close because of rain? That would be pretty funny.
-
its not going to be ridiculously warm next week, but rain could present a problem. yeah, i know, its a week + away. lol.. anyways i dont think lower main will make it. Razors, Challenge, and NMDW have a good shot at it though.

I will bring the usual breakfast stuff.
-
shawnee is now closed. so, Blue will have to outlast Cameltoe (i think thats it) to claim last to close.
-
Frost is done this coming weekend, the 23rd.

i just looked at their website for a view of the cams. wanna know the saddest thing? 20" of snow this year. e-gads. it used to snow in the Poconos.
-
The amount of twisted teas and those little fireball shots are insane.

Its actually ashame that Blue takes the brunt of the complaining of the trash, and has to deal with it. Its not like they did it, but the way they handle it is pretty poor. They need a trashcan at the top of each lift. It blows me away that people can take a full 12 pack with them, but as soon as one is empty they cant carry it anymore.

The Ides of March 2025…foggy/soft
JFskiDan replied to GrilledSteezeSandwich's topic in Blue Mountain

Guns and hoses. And it was real nice at 3 pm. wicked warm temps brought out some really grabby slow stuff on homie stretch. Nobody home. Razors was fun AF.

i feel like the condos at BB could care less about BB. The big draw there is the lake. they are far enough from the slopes that i doubt BB is that big of a draw for owners. Air B and B type thing maybe, but that place only being open weekends and maybe some nights or whatever, it might as well be closed. i would think the condo association at JF would throw a fit, being that they are right there slopeside, but i really doubt they would be able to fight vail.

if you plan on using any of the summer stuff, the pass has to be paid for in full, before those kick in. so, like for me, i did the payment plan. so if i wanna take a scenic lift ride or play tug of war over the summer, i would have to pay off my pass first.
-
im still blown away that they continue to run both JF and BB. If frost had lights, maybe they would abandon BB?
-
i thought i saw a FB post about pond skimming at BB. never seen that before, but if thats the case, its over.
-
if anybody goes today, that can post up conditions, im all ears. i might stop by on my way up to the poconos. I do see the cams shaking around some.
-
i see that they are not showing that. I'm putting my money on they will be offering it.
-
One thing i found out is there are alot of discounts on lodging with the Ikon pass. Many hotels at JH participated, the 49'er was 15% off, so keep that in the back of your mind as well. thats a value that should be looked at too with the pass. I think that saved me at least $200 at JH.

Jeff says the buddy passes will carry over. But, many times a season pass renewal renders your pass ineffective, so i would be like a little hesitant that they would disappear as well. I know you wont be at Blue between now and the renewal date, but i went to guest services and turned my 2 buddy passes into RFID cards that i just then gave to the recipients.
