My spidey sense is saying no. This seems to be a common theme with most ski joints in our area these days.

I think i remember seeing Salomon, and maybe Marker. They are a Rossi ski dealer, so i dont see why they wouldnt have some type of look/Rossi binding. As far as i know, they still do the equipment trade in (skis with current bindings) for $50. So if you have some pair lying around you wont ever ski again, send them along. I sort of thought their prices on Bindings were a little high. But....remember, you will get 10% off, and the bindings should mount for free, so it might end up being a wash. It seems as though Blue has had quick turn around time on PASR peoples stuff lately, so thats always a bonus vs. Buckmans smiling at you and saying, "pick these up in 2 weeks"?

I was giving them a pass yesterday on that with the wind. Kinda surprised this morning to see no snowmaking. well, just a little surprised.

I was watching the Valley Cam this morning. when i looked close to 8 am, it wasnt running and i thought that was odd. then it started running. not sure if they put people on it, but i looked sometime later and it was stopped and people were using the quad.

I had to put something in the mailbox. You should be receiving literature on Sun rooms, adult diapers, and taking part in a new study about menstrual cramps, in 2-4 weeks.

I'm getting jaded the older i get. I would not enjoy this. I'm procrastinating making the short walk to the mailbox, and probably wont go out to get lunch. Good work by you Root.

Looking at the cameras........there is like nobody there right now. Too damn cold for me...thats for sure.

Nice. Maybe let schif run them over to even things up?

Temps are dropping really quick....went outside to plow the driveway at 34 degrees, came back in an hour later it was 29.

Light to moderate snow in Albrightsville right now. Probably at least a foot by now at JFBB.

Agree, Agree, and i hate Amoroso rolls. I think this is why i might be tired of Wawa, but pretty soon, all of their deli sandwiches will be pre-made. IMO, they dont make a really good sandwich, they just make a sandwich fast, shits just normally slapped together. There are way better sandwich shops. Hell, the gas station i kept telling Tomcat to go to has way better sandwiches. The Wawa close to me at one point had Taco Bell in it for a while. Mexican fiesta!

Props to the groomers for being able to groom the 6" base on lower sidewinder. Glad NM/DW, and Switchback are open, but they were pretty ruff. Low light and trail weirdness on them make for a sketchy run. Upper Main was money for quite a while. Parking lot never disappoints.

yep, looks like its heading sucksville.

JFskiDan replied to GrilledSteezeSandwich's topic in Blue Mountain
Saturday sounds like the day the Del Vista Boca Lodge at Blue Mountain would pay off. Or NMSKI's camper thing. -
Northeast extension Sunday AM Blue Mountain Drive

This could turn out very well for Elk.....possibly Montage as well.

Weekend roll call thread 1/19-1/20

Heading up today, Sat am, maybe back sat pm. sunday........who knows, could be spicy. Although i briefly read some things this morning hinting towards rain/ice staying a little more south. -
Be nice if that happens, but im not gonna hold my breath. Sunday could get weird.

So, JFBB did confirm that vouchers bought before Jan 1, will not have a surcharge. New ticket sales will have the $3 surcharge. They stopped communicating with me when i asked why other mountains serviced by PPL were not issuing a surcharge.

Whats the status on the gas pipeline? i heard from 2 sources that has a play in this whole plan.
-
i will. if they get back to me i will sort of string them along for a little while.
-
If i can find an article by doing a quick google search that says commercial rates are going up, i dont see how they can spin this off on PPL. I think thats kind of shitty of them. Just for funsies, i am going to email them.

The Thursday/Friday thing has a big impact on how the weekend thing lines up. I think the most certain thing to say at this time is there might be a little bit of fresh for some nice turns Friday morning. There will be some additional precipitation over the weekend as well. If you want to make yourself crazy, keep looking at weather forecasts. 3 current forecasts as of 11 am 1/15. Wunderground - (same as Weather.com) Accuweather - Thursday PM they have 1.5" snow. NOAA - Take your pick. Or, blend them together, and you probably will get a likely outcome. 3 different forecasts, using 3 different models.

Holy fuck......i probably would have had a really liquid HAFE.

I'm going to lean on the side of JFBB dropping the ball on this one, but i can be way off base here. Electric rates are published, and change maybe twice a year or something. I looked sometime in the fall, and saw the the residential rate was actually going down on Jan 1. Looking at their published price to compare sheets, it appears as though commercial rates were increased. I think they should have known this. It was published in the fall. As we all know, electric is the biggest expense for any ski resort in the area. Its my understanding electric cost for huge users are negotiated ahead of time. I know if i was planning on using a metric shit ton of electric, i would probably keep a close eye on cost. All of the suppliers i work with will always give me a heads up when there is going to be a cost increase. I would be interested to hear PPL''s side. I find it kind of bizarre that this came as a big surprise to JFBB, that their biggest operating expense was going to be increased. The other question is, did they know this, but ignore it, thinking they would be able to produce most of their snow before Jan 1? December kind of sucked for snowmaking. Did season passholders incur a surcharge as well? Did the race team assholes? It looks as though Blue, Montage, and Elk, are also serviced by PPL. So, they are just sucking up the price increase? A quick google search reveals this from November 2nd. The new rates translate into a savings of about $4.10 a month for a typical residential customer, to $129.20, according to PPL spokesman Joe Nixon, while the business customer will see an increase of $4.68 per month, to $117.78. Large commercial and industrial customers shop for their own power, with the generation rate for large industrial customers based on hourly market prices, Nixon said. https://www.mcall.com/business/mc-biz-ppl-price-to-compare-20181102-story.html Ok, so now im really thinking JFBB dropped the fucking ball. Dropped the fucking ball, let it roll down Floyds and into the Lehigh River and was swept away.
