I have learned that Philo is inexpensive due to no sports channels. the sports channels are the most expensive for a streaming service to aquire. There are just a few channels shy of what i get with directtvnow. Having a service with a DVR is nice too, but i may be having a problem watching dvr'ed stuff out of my home. not sure though. sooo many options with streaming. I'm still a rookie with what prime has to offer. They have live tv?

12/20...the calm before the storm. Lots of PASRs!!!

i like Blue's shop, but their selection of bindings is limited. I feel their turn around on mounts and tunes is really top notch though. When i brought them my bindings to mount on the enforcers, they were like "give me about 45 mins." i was like, wait, what? -
Basically, but im not real big on the gasser front end. I dig the rear wheel well openings being cut open though.

all of a sudden i have been thinking i want need something like this. '55 or '56. Flat or matte, fairly high HP engine, but still driveable on the street with an OD trans. Loud AF too. Like make people think "end of the world" loud.

When i looked this morning, it sure did look like they were blowing on Challenge, but glancing at the cams in the daylight, it doesnt appear as they were. Booooo.
-
No.....just looks like they are storing some junk over there they dont know what else to do with.

I was really surprised they printed that. They may not want to promote people skiing that, especially if there are logs and rebar going across the trail. Imagine someone venturing over there at night?
-
That looks way better than i though it would. Looks like they have some features ready to go for it too. Thanks for posting that.

Thats alot of dough. The morning ticket there was definitely worthwhile. interestingly enough, the $200 season pass deal Enjo posted earlier now seems to be $150. https://halfoffthevalley.com/index.php?index_type=promo-detail&h=2834812

Weekend roll call thread 12/15-16...
JFskiDan replied to GrilledSteezeSandwich's topic in Blue Mountain
as luck would have it, i caught the bug going around the office just in time for the weekend. kinda feel like crap. Need to feel a little less crappy to ski. -
I would have thought Peak would be looking to sell JFBB after they bought Hunter and got the taste of larger ski areas. Then they go and buy the other three. I guess they look good on their multi mountain pass. Did they cut a whole bunch of trees down at BB? it looked really "open" to me when i was there last month.

Might be a little light snow tomorrow am. Nothing crazy, but a little fresh on top of the slopes would be another nice bonus for December.

I really should have read that twice before posting it. Everything is cool here. Thanks.

Catskills - Poconos Analogous Mountains
JFskiDan replied to Ski2Live Live2Ski's topic in Other Mountains
The tree that used to be in the middle of Tannenbaum. it was a fir tree, so its not deciduous, but i always thought it was cool that they left it there in the middle of the trail for people to run into. It would have been neat if they could have put Christmas lights on it. It got taken down by a storm a bunch of years ago. Trees in the Poconos dont have deep roots because of all the rock, so they are susceptible to being blown over by strong winds. Many years ago RidgeRacer pointed out that Tannenbaum is German for fir tree, which also can be loosely translated to "Christmas Tree", hence the song "O Tannenbaum", which the modern day lyrics were written in 1824, by Ernst Anschütz. Anschütz based his text on a 16th-century Silesian folk song by Melchior Franck, "Ach Tannenbaum". August Zarnack in 1819 wrote a tragic love song inspired by this folk song, taking the evergreen, "faithful" fir tree as contrasting with a faithless lover. The folk song first became associated with Christmas with Anschütz, who added two verses of his own to the first, traditional verse. The custom of the Christmas tree developed in the course of the 19th century, and the song came to be seen as a Christmas carol. Anschütz's version still had treu (true, faithful) as the adjective describing the fir's leaves (needles), harking back to the contrast to the faithless maiden of the folk song. This was changed to grün (green) at some point in the 20th century, after the song had come to be associated with Christmas. this reminds me that i have done very little Christmas shopping, and that bugs the crap out of me. However, i am fairly positive i am getting new ski socks for Christmas, so i am very excited about that. -
Bald Eagles are really cool.

The guy thats harshing everybodys stoke about rain this weekend should probably play this kind of low key. Or, take the focus off of him, which in this case, nice work.
-
ohhhhhh, so you are the one that started that rumor. I did find it a little odd they would open it with such limited terrain on a Monday, but theres economics, then theres Blueconomics.
-
Dont start him up. If thats really a factor in the overall experience to ski, probably need to take up knitting.
