Opening Day - Snovember 16th, 2018

Snowmaking has begun at Frost. -
Beat me to it...and Indiggio. i hope he's ok, its not like he sleeps. This crossed my mind as well. The availability of Main street is going to be a huge factor. With just the Vista lift, i think this could be epic lift lines, like put anything at boulder to shame. Lets communicate Thursday.
-
Ok, props to Blue for announcing an opening before they really have any kind of appreciable snow on the ground. Lets hope they dont pull a Camelback. So, every Blue regular is going to be there friday to ski come around, easyout, and vista, from the Vista lift? Yikes. Yeah, i guess if there is a shot at Main street for anytime this weekend, they will be blowing on it with the others.

What do you expect to see?

Temps for next week went a little colder too.

I think what Blue does boils down to this. Do they do what makes passholders happy, gives them the least grief on Facespace, and open up whatever they can manage to get enough snow on and groomed out just in time for this weekends shit house weather, or do they just blow what ever they can and leave it in piles? Lets face it. The forecast looks great for making snow on Thursday, and goes in the toilet after that. I hope it changes, but after friday sometime, it just looks dismal for Blue making snow for a few days. This sucks, but at least there is skiing elsewhere. Camelback can pretty much suck balls. Drinking at the bar at Montage would be more enjoyable than skiing at Camelback. -

What do you consider TTB at Boulder? I think Love is a good bet for this coming weekend. I think anything else might be a stretch. -
Man, does that sound familiar. huh. Glad to hear things are cranking up in Colorado.
-
I'm pretty blown away that Montage might open before Blue. Very interested to see what they open with on Friday. P.S. - i am starting to get the feeling GSS doesnt want to ski at Boulder.

Website says no skiing for antman until Friday. I think if they were going to open for Wednesday they would be putting that out on social media as much as possible at this point. -
Yawn.

That would be super, but for some reason, Boulder is first to open, and last to open 100%. Last year it took them at least a month to be 100%. not sure if once they get 2-3 trails open, they ship a bunch of fan guns to Frost to work over there or what.

It rains every 3 days around these parts nowadays, and has been doing that for months now. Manmade is going to need to learn how to stick to wet ground.
-
Ok. Just checking. You know, for a friend.
-
This is where i was going when i asked “why”. I think this helps montage and camel as far as trails they blew on. Then any snow blue might be able to make before tuesday night is irrelevant too?

looking forward to checking out your sweet ski moves on the web cam. -
Just another day for them. Around here its the end of the fucking world and Penn Dot is the problem in their eyes. One time i saw some stats on Steamboat Springs. they had like 300" inches of snow that year, and 0 snow days for the school system.

Agree with all. Everyone should actually be taught how to drive in the snow. None of us should really be on the roads when we are travelling to Blue in the snow, but i think as a collective group, skiers are prepared to drive in the snow. I dont usually have many issues getting to Blue other than having to drive down the mountain from Albrightsville on a very interesting road with sharp turns and weird banking. The problem is when i have to go home. That road is notorious for becoming a parking lot of cars that didnt make it up. Then nobody can get up, and there you sit. I used to put chains on my Bronco to plow when it was really bad. Chains are damn near unstoppable.

I think people are replacing just good old fashioned american snow driving skills for an AWD vehicle. Arent bright enough to drive in the snow? buy an SUV. My first car was a 76 Nova. put snow tires on it, and it always got me where i needed to go in it. Just wasnt stupid about it. We have all passed an SUV in the ditch. how did it get there? Just like any other vehicle, it slid there. Engage AWD, disengage brain. More people should buy chains, or straps too. chains are awesome.
