Im willing to bet they can get double what any hotel nearby costs, as long as they have some decent ammenities, and is really slopeside. There will be the 5 percenters, like yourself, that would clearly be bothered with driving back and forth to a hotel off property to save $80. If you look around on any of those Frontier flights you take, those are the same people.

i think the state hates the fact they own Denton Hill, and are just super happy they have found someone to "try" to run it, however, i just feel like this isnt going to go well, but thats just my gut. Unless you are Vail, or Alterra with deep pockets and multi mountian passes, buying/running a ski resort in our area, with limited season and huge operating costs with snowmaking, is a loser. I think they will throw money at Denton with the best intentions, then throw more money after it to improve ROI, and then it will be scraped again. (fyi, im not against the state throwing money at anything ski related)

I think post rain depends when they groom. I have done the day after they closed, but they groomed after close the day before, and it was so bad i will hesitate doing that again.

I am blessed with 2 of the most mishapen feet as well. one foot is a good size bigger, and the smaller foot is wider than the other. This Dalbello Pantera boot that im in has been the best set of boots for me ever. you can adjust the last on the boot with the toe buckle. might be on some other styles, but the toe buckle is backwards from the others. your results may vary.

As much as i thought today was gonna be good, i had the fear of super firm, somehow the snow set up even though it was 40 degrees out. this was not the case. today was good. maybe not JH good, but today was good.

i really was thinking of leaving work at noon to make a few runs, but honestly i just kept looking at the cams and decided i have skied enough days in the fog and rain that i would pass. The sad thing is, today is probably going to be better than Sunday.

i couldnt agree more, but Elk is so funny. no tree skiing. hardly any discounts. no indy pass. no fucks given. dont wanna ski here? we dont care. But at some point, the fun of owning a ski resort has to wear off.

Im not sure on the park thing on NMDW. Need to factor in the weather a little. Snow making temps are gone for a week or so now, we knew it was gonna come to an end today, and then rain. So, to me, it seems like there is a decision to be made. Keep pumping snow on trails so they have a good base, or stop at what will get them open, and move on. I am in the minority that would have kept pumping snow on challenge and NMDW, rather than move over to side (which will require tons of snowmaking), and switch, just to lay down some snow, and watch it rain. Take a close look at lower main. it doesnt have a good base, and since like 15 trails come together there, it could be a problem later in the season. Last year, NMDW was open, but if you remember, it sucked, pretty much all the time. there wasnt enough snow on it. the first 2 turns were narrow, couldnt really get your groove on. I dont remember challenge being steller any time i skied it either. the whole quality over quantity might apply here.

No knowledge what so ever, but i wouldnt doubt if there is an offer on the table for Elk at all times. i dont see why Vail or KSL wouldnt want to scoop it up.

i was pretty jealous of those that could ski Raisins yesterday. it did look and sound really nice from the lift yesterday. Glad to hear they didnt mess it up.

1/20-1/21…weekend roll call thread.
JFskiDan replied to GrilledSteezeSandwich's topic in Blue Mountain
Sadly, both days with great conditions were crowded enough that i had my fill at 9:30. Others have more patience than me for a lift line, but when its at the scanners thats about when its my time to leave. All this isnt limited to Blue, thank the multi-mountain pass i guess. weird shit pops up on my FB, and i found this. i saw that Roundtop was "the busiest ever" saturday and sunday. But, also saw JF was not real busy. -
3 days in a row that didnt suck.

They opened raisins at 2 pm. It was good until 2:05. Lol. like any newly opened trail at blue. Widow should be good by tomorrow.

No time like the present to resurrect it.

Move it to BB. Problem solved.

Completely ignored plowing the driveway in favor of taking a tour around the block on the uphill setup. all people do in my development is complain about the roads not being plowed down to the asphalt. I say embrace it. It was nice just to get out and play in the snow.

Very fun rare mid week morning for me. Really nice to see snowmaking progress from the past week. Big gains. Pretty busy by 11:30, just lapped lazy after the others had to go do that work BS. Lazy was kind of 3D by then and super fun, other than watching for the masses of people on trail. Falls was nice too. Hopefully cuzie's/raceway/widowmaker will be a little nicer tomorrow, it was just kind of typical of the Blue cycle of grooming right after opening a trail, skiable but marble-y. Midway was pretty nice. NMDW has more snow on it than Challenge, but hopefully both will be open before the end of our nice snowmaking stretch. it will be really nice to do the lefty-righty down NMDW again. Hopefully they dont put park BS on there for the 15 people at Blue that do that. Nothing sucked about today.
