something i just bumped into.....place up here Pocono snowmobile rentals charges $50 for a half hour for a snowmobile. $60 if you bring a passenger. When you look at it that way, an all day lift ticket to Blue kinda looks like a bargain.

i will be there. been three days in a row and still havent gotten me a damn waffle. hoping 4th time is a charm.

Snowmaking is expensive. lets face it, we live on the east coast, and our ski season is short. I know for a fact most businesses like to turn a profit, so things need to be priced accordingly. This is a huge money making week for the resorts, and from what we have seen at Blue, so far this isnt panning out to well. Most days this week have had some type of weather issue that kept crowds down a bit. Blue probably has half the trails open. If they were charging half price this week, words could not describe what a zoo it would be. There are not enough trails open for the amount of people reduced ticket rates will bring in.

Best conditions i have skied at Blue this year so far. At least the first hour and a half to 2 hours. Place was empty till about 10, it seems Blue Mt drive was shut down for a spell, and nobody from the Allentown area could make it to Blue unless they diverted through Palmerton. The drive there was pretty uneventful, except for passing some motorists that were just going to damn slow, on what could be one of PA's best days so far That seemed to be a common theme from everyone....slow driving MF's that shouldnt be on the road. Dont these people know to stay off the roads on powder days? Got a decent amount of runs in, Challenge probably topped the charts early on. Upper main street didnt disappoint either. The run out kinda sucked, but early on it was worth it. Things started to get a little cement-like as we hit the parking lot to share our powder experience and sing a couple rounds of Kumbaya. After our well deserved break, we went out to make 2 more runs. 1 was pretty much all we could do, as the rain had definitely set in, and conditions went from cement-like, to straight up cement. I bugged out around 11. Roads were ok, but it is actually still snowing in Albrightsville. Still very heavy wet snow. I measured about 3.5" of snow here, so JFBB will probably need a yardstick to measure theirs. This is PA, so i will take the little 2" powder day over yesterdays conditions anytime.

Speaking of sugar, the waffle cabin was open today. And the 2 girls on Blue Mts facebook video say they are getting 5" tomorrow. I think they mean the mountain is getting 5" tomorrow. i may opt for JFBB tomorrow since they will probably get near a foot.

. Fun though. yesterday was better. Powder day tomorrow!

Challenge still isnt great. Everything else is nice. Sipping a latte in the baller run lounge.
-
Good ski day. Challenge is kinda narrow.

Reading this could be a pretty significant icing event. Be safe on the roads. i will check you guys out via webcams.

Back up until it sounds expensive?

I know a guy, with a camper, where you could probably set that up in Blues parking lot.

Congrats. Excellent couponing. -
Their social media is lacking to say the least. It still blows my mind how they think social media isnt that important these days. Their slogan is true though...the snow really does come first, not the customer. The upcharge to $40 for Sunday, with the allure of opening Love, which didnt happen till later that day, and the dumb choices they made 2 years ago closing off 3/4 of East Mt, and Challenge on a Saturday.....to quote Doug, i was SMH.

Im a fan. I had a pair of skis tuned pre-season somewhere else, more local to where i used to ski. After they were tuned there, they were interesting to ski to say the least. I took them to Blue, and they straightened them out. I dropped them off 1st thing on a weekday, and was back on them the same day. Season pass discount as well.

Have you ever looked at Boulders cameras? Wanna talk stupid? Just in case you want to see how the parking lot is shaping up, they have this camera..... And then there is this wonderful shot of a snowgun, and some super interesting trees. Not one shot of an actual slope at BB.

Going to do my very best to head up in the afternoon, leaving work early. Need to plan this out a little so i dont get the hairy eyeball for leaving early. Sort of thought about skipping out on Friday, but that will depend upon how i do on Wednesday. -
Frost opens thursday. 6 trails. Full price.
-
Open wednesday. All day. 7 "trails"

My guess would be Temp, or humidity got too high. Or maybe they all just got sleepy and wanted to go home.
