Guns are still on at 11 am. Good deal.

Based on the weather, it looks like kind of a snow to ice to rain thing Monday. Probably not a great day to open. Might not be able to produce Monday night based on forecast, so if they think they need a little more snow, Tuesday might be out. Wednesday. Be ready. Wax up your backhoe. Sorry NMSKI.

Its like the Gondola at Steamboat. you ride that once in the morning. More than that, as PC once said, "you're doing it wrong"

Wait.....this is the Mountain Creek thread?

I saw the flag, but not the snow gun. i jumped the gun on that. Not Castlerock. Has a very Castlerock look too it, and actually their webpage shows Castlerock as open. Love me some Castlerock.

What did it take to open for opening day #1 last year? 2 days, almost around the clock? i think this weekends weather is very similar to that weekend last year. Looks like Monday warms up just a touch, but then some real nice overnight temps. i guess it kinda depends what they want to open with, but i dont really know if Monday is too far out of the question.

Castlerock?

You know, just in case NMSKI backs over the internet by accident and breaks it.

Ski options for day trips on Thanksgiving Weekend

Blue had to make snow. I think its kind of a damned if you do, and damned if you dont type of thing. Boulder was making snow, its kind of good for PR, and the money it probably cost them was less then the aggravation they would have got from social media with "its cold enough, why arent you making snow" comments. Imagine the crap they would have got if they didnt make snow, and it stayed cold? Take this weekend to wax up your skis, board, or backhoe, service your ski-mobile, put up your Christmas or Hanukkah lights, and watch a healthy dose of skiing videos on youtube. Big time snowmaking in the Poconos starts next week. Stuff in the "skilz" and "daks" will be way better next weekend. And where the hell is Sara Snow? Right about now, i could use one of her little temper tantrums were she goes off on Montage. -
By late in the weekend, a storm from the southern states could affect us and it may be just cold enough to make it interesting. Looking ahead, all signs point to a major league widespread cold air outbreak by the end of next week across much of the US. Dont read too much into that first sentence, Second sentence. Pay attention to that. Its what Toast and God were speaking about earlier today.

Clearly forecasts are just a guide, but looking at the forecast for Hunter, right now it looks like marginal temps with high humidity. Early season, limited terrain, and a 6 hr drive just simply dont do that much for me. Individual results may vary. I had fun at BB last weekend, i drove 3 miles. i probably wouldnt do that again either until they get Love, BB, something like that open if Blue isnt open yet. Blue on the 17th, maybe earlier, but not later. No doubt. Take it to the bank. Lower lot, too. Wax up your backhoe. -

That was kind of a joke. with the radar looking like this for the past 2 days, it cant be good for anybody on the east coast. Winter starts next week. Things look sooo much better next week than they do Fri/Sat. -

Stop valve on the sink above. water was trickling down the pipe. Right now, it doesnt look like i have to cut any holes in my ceiling. Ok, i'm free this weekend. where we skiing? Blue? BB? Elk? "skilz"? "Daks"? -

Less people on the slopes then. i am kidding. i dont see much going on this weekend. Except figuring out where the water dripping out of my kitchen ceiling is coming from. -

I would definitely hit the catskills this weekend. Maybe Vermont. Should be epic. -
Stratton has a big village at the base right? Aim for someplace like that. The village might keep her occupied, like if she were to go in a little early, and you ski, at least she wouldnt be just starring at the trees, and looking at her watch. Keep in mind most of the areas in the "skills" and "daks" dont have much going on village or town wise. Lake Placid is cool, but i dont remember much at the mountain that would keep someone entertained, who might be done skiing for the day, for any length of time. And there is nothing going on at Gore. That place is in the middle of fucking no where.

Unfortunately this is true. If you believe in somewhat long range forecasts, it appears as though after the weekend, there are some really nice consistent overnight temps for snowmaking. Blowing 2-3 days a week to is going to get them no where. -
Who said saturday was going to be crowded? Me? No.
