  1. I did actually mean to say after work. However, looking around this house, i see no ski gear for me. Unless you have an extra pair of skis, boots, poles, and some high priced snow pants, i need to work on "plan c"
  2. Taking the same day off for skiing as Christmas bonus checks are written, might not be the best financial decision i could make. Im out unless NMSKI wants to carpool.
  3. looks like one park and challenge. Freedom!, Love, and half of Boulder Park.
  4. 8 trails and 5 lifts? i really want to see them pull this off. Or is it like upper pocono raceway, midway pocono raceway, lower pocono raceway, pocono raceway runout, liftline, etc.....
  5. Its been snowing out west. Alot.
  6. Then stop looking, it is what it is. Thats what i have done and my mental state is better. Plus work is keeping busy, which is unusual for December.
  7. Feb 2-6 in Utah is still on the table. Trying to ski the day PC and i get out there, but the Utah jumpstart thing is no longer. I might go out on the first. Flights are still in the $175 range. On a different note, the chutes open at Steamboat today. I am living my skiing through webcams.
  8. Accuweather has the snowflake symbol up for Saturday in Albrightsville. Powder day on Freedom!
  9. Thats such a bare minimum number. Humidity tends to play hell with that number too. It would be nice if at 5 pm it all of a sudden goes down to 28, but it doesnt. The low is often achieved at like 4-5 am, shortly before the sun comes up. With a low of 28, they can throw some snow on Freedom, but production on other slopes may not go so well.
  10. There is a little cold shot this weekend, but i think getting anything open by Christmas is going to be tough. Freedom will get resurfaced. Group car washes over Christmas?
  11. Personally, this is the dumbest statement i have heard today. I work with quite a few special people, so, congratulations. I applaud you for going to Killington last weekend, (still, no pics, btw) and i guess congrats for heading to Bell this weekend are in order. Did it ever really occur to you that nobody on the east coast really has any terrain open that many are willing to travel for? I would sure like to go skiing, but really i cant justify the drive to go ski the limited trails they have open. I want to go to ski Vermont, NY, and for that matter out west, when i can go dashing through the trees, and play in some terrain that isnt offered here locally. Right now i dont see any of that terrain open on the east coast. Skiing trails can only keep me occupied for so long. And your other statement, earlier, "Killington was better last weekend than Blue on its best day." Have you ever skied Blue on a true powder day? I know that doesnt happen in PA that often, but Blue with some fresh stuff is a completely different experience. The one day in Feb of 2013 was just off the charts. So, i'm going to have to disagree with your statement. I think Blue Mountain is better on a powder day than what you skied on at Killington (again, no pics) last weekend. I agree with this. I think i have the opportunity to make 2 trips out west this year, so i'm not real concerned with some early season turns on limited terrain that require alot of travel. it doesnt work out logistically for me. Individual results may vary though. My job is so flexible in the winter that i can get things done now, and take additional days when i really want to.
  12. ^^^^ Thats an awesome idea. i have a whole bunch of old RFID cards and passes laying around. No tree though.
  13. I doubt Chadds Peak will be open this weekend either.
  14. My dad has some Lionel trains like from 1950. Cool as shit. Why he ever let me play with them when i was a kid is beyond me. My guess is they havent been out of the boxes in 25 + years or so.
  15. Lame.
  16. Pics
  17. Hunter season pass holders ski for free at Mt Snow up until the 18th of December. Linky That was nice of them.
  18. Read this. Its gotta be true if you read it on the internet. Really all we need to do is return to "normal" temps. Same here. We will be skiing by then. Just wont be as awesome as years past.
  19. Book your car early and often. By that i mean, keep checking car rental prices every so often. i am amazed at how car rental prices change for no apparent reason. Check like a day or two before going, sometimes you get the best deal then. Dont give your credit card number up front, and you can cancel, rebook, until your tired of doing so. Best i have done in Utah for an SUV was $250 for 3 ski days.
  20. Obviously its closed. Peak cant get there to show the people at Hunter how to make snow.
  21. Peak hasnt purchased Hunter yet.
  22. They say they are not sure about the weekend yet. To me, reading into that a little, means, "we need to make some snow first before we can open again". The forecast isnt looking good for snowmaking.
  23. Really really heavy flurries. Get the JFBB ruler out.
  24. Yikes. thats like asking GSS who has the best nachos and krumpets. Heres my worthless 2 cents. Snowbird is big, and its where everyone seems to go on a powder day. why we keep going back there is beyond me. Alta is cool, but after 2 times there, its going down a little on my list every year. oh, yeah, You wont be able to go there so that statement is kind of moot. I really enjoyed Solitude. its really high on my list. Lifts are laid out weird, but i think they day we skied there, it was just a handful of other people. I thought Snowbasin was pretty cool, we didnt hit that with the best conditions, but i would go back there. I dont know if getting the powder mountain experience would be worth it for you. Some guidance there will go a long way, and on a board it might not be the best possible day you could have in Utah. I want to go to Brighton, and the Canyons to knock those off my list. PC and Deer Valley are ehh to me, not ever being there, maybe not my cup of tea, and one of those you cant go to it think. Where ever you go, i'm not sure you can go wrong. Probably locating yourself in southern Utah and skiing the cottonwoods would be your best bet.
