  1. Really really heavy flurries. Get the JFBB ruler out.
  2. Yikes. thats like asking GSS who has the best nachos and krumpets. Heres my worthless 2 cents. Snowbird is big, and its where everyone seems to go on a powder day. why we keep going back there is beyond me. Alta is cool, but after 2 times there, its going down a little on my list every year. oh, yeah, You wont be able to go there so that statement is kind of moot. I really enjoyed Solitude. its really high on my list. Lifts are laid out weird, but i think they day we skied there, it was just a handful of other people. I thought Snowbasin was pretty cool, we didnt hit that with the best conditions, but i would go back there. I dont know if getting the powder mountain experience would be worth it for you. Some guidance there will go a long way, and on a board it might not be the best possible day you could have in Utah. I want to go to Brighton, and the Canyons to knock those off my list. PC and Deer Valley are ehh to me, not ever being there, maybe not my cup of tea, and one of those you cant go to it think. Where ever you go, i'm not sure you can go wrong. Probably locating yourself in southern Utah and skiing the cottonwoods would be your best bet.
  3. i dont think it was outcold. it was some dude that skied in Vermont, maybe taught? Whirlybirds? Level 3?
  4. Lets face it, every joint wants to be open for Christmas. At this point i dont think thats a stretch, but "open with" is going to be the key phrase.
  5. ^^ kind of depends on what kind of base they really had on freedom, but they blew sunday night. I think that was pretty much a waste of electricity though. The cams still do actually show some snow on love, which suprises me with the past 2 days weather.
  6. ??Ride-DE?? you need to stop looking at this like Hunter will be operated as a single mountain, owned by a single owner as it has been in the past. Open your eyes. They don't need to dump tons of money into it, for right now, they just need to turn the key. My bet is major expansion isnt likely. Keep in mind Peak Resorts has done well with their recent purchases, at least well enough to keep acquiring ski joints. They may be looking for some volunteer ski patrol to help run their resorts, so ring them up someday. Connect the dots to all the ski resorts they own. Kind of bridges the gap between JFBB and Mt Snow. They offer different passes up North, like the Nor'easter pass. I would say you would see a pass like that targeted more like JFBB/Hunter/Mt Snow. Currently i think lift tix are 50% off for JFBB passholders at Mt Snow. I doubt Mt Snow is overwhelmed by the amount of people that take advantage of that. Theres a good chance they throw out a few freebies this year to current JFBB passholders to get the ball rolling for next years multi-mountain lift ticket. Its a good move on their part. Hunter definitely wasnt a fire sale though. The 2 largest revenue generating resorts they have, include lodging. Hunter boasts somewhere around 275-300K in skier visits. Hunter is doing pretty well in that department, looking at their other resorts. Mt Snow reports around 468K skier visits. that to me seems like alot.
  7. They did make snow this morning.
  8. I really dont, but there might be some people here that do. I have no real interest in skiing freedom, but i guess at this point Love park could be the next trail open in PA.
  9. Depending on your requirements for food, there are some options, but no McD's or Wendys. Coming from BB towards the turnpike, the first shopping center on the left, in there is a market called Hazle Park. I am pretty sure they make hoagies, and they actually have a pretty tasty hot bar. Past that again on the left is a strip mall, Valerios pizza, and Sportsman Deli. Up past that on the right is Subway, Chinese food, and another pizza place. i do not reccommend the pizza place there. it changed hands a while back and they fucked it up so bad it might actually be closed now.
  10. Yuck. 2 week outlook is dismal. Could change. I hate to say this, but i think the "micro climate" at JFBB is really going to come into play here. The few degrees colder it normally is there might mean they make some snow while Blue cant, at least enough to refresh Freedom. Anyway you look at this, our weather sucks. Might have to carpool up to Northern VT to ski "the bush" over Christmas.
  11. I was out and about, and i did drive through at one point to check things out. I thought they were putting on a contest for the most ridiculous looking car.
  12. if Love was open i would go.....but only two nights of snowmaking on that, and im sure Freedom was the focus.
  13. Well i didnt think this would happen. wow. Im still not gonna go to ski Freedom. Drinking in the parking lot isnt out of the question though. It might be busy on Friday.
  14. im dying to ski and everything, but the whole go 6-7 hrs for limited terrain doesnt make sense for me.
  15. Temps look marginal for the next two weeks with some cold nights sprinkled in the mix. Should be an interesting call. I think we should know something soon.
  16. i think the first pic is Freedom. the lift is separated by a tree line. The second pic with 14 snowmaking devices in the span of 60' is definitely Freedom.
  17. Yep, im probably throwing out the hate pretty hard. i dislike the fact they concentrate on Freedom, i feel that hurts them in the long run with opening other trails, but they like to be the first to open, so thats what they are gonna do. The snowmaking capabilities at BB seem to be on the weak side. This image will be burnt into my eyes forever. this was a Sunday 2 pm opening, that they announced sometime late morning, and this is the turn out they got. i will admit i drove to BB one other year to ski Freedom, not opening day. i took one look at the lift line, and the XXXXL shirts and turned around.
  18. I wanna say the one and only time i did freedom on opening day it was like a 1-2 oclock opening on a sunday. It was a shit show from the word go.
  19. My septic mound has more elevation.
  20. Im down the street from it and i have no intention of ever doing that again as well. i would stop by and drink beer in the parking lot with the rest of the weirdos from here though.
  21. If my memory serves me correct, Montage was late to the party last year, and thats what had her panties in a bunch. Or at least that was part of what got her panties in a bunch. i really enjoyed her posts.
  22. i dont see how anyone is gonna be open on Friday for the Pocono WROD. Next 2 nights look ok for some snowmaking, but thurs-fri look stupidly warm.
  23. .......and the folks over at JFBB were working on their landmark trail, Freedom.
  24. snow is being produced.
