In true blue mountain style, i think its only fair to pay ohmage to i think Okemo, which has so many intersecting trails, this would just add the same amount of thrill to that side as what is existing. Need to make sure people can get from all the way left, to the lodge in the valley without getting on a lift. That would be about 9 trails crossed. Epic. I think this makes way more sense. i will give skiitoolives all of my buddy passes the year we get to ski over there.

Same here. Now i feel cheated that i let both of them go unused.
-
Are there guns going on upper main? Its kinda looks like it but it could also be a troptical illusion.
-
Im good with a trade of Midway/lower main for lazy tbh. Midway to lower is a fav run, but early season not as much.
-
Thats a bit of snow there for sure. is that Homie Stretch? i cant quite put my finger on where that fence is.
-
I dont disagree, but im going with "trust the process". Which seems silly when talking about Blue, right? Even though i said earlier i hope they put a good base on the trails they blow on, i will be a little disappointed if lower main is still grassy come Friday/Saturday. I wonder if they have been blowing on lazy.

So, we may have trended just a bit warmer from when i posted the above, but not bad overall. still lots of good temps in sight. the "monday" on the second line from above, is today, December 2nd. And again, forecast #2 is pretty much inline with #1.

im still waiting on the big news as to who bought the place. it keeps me up at night not knowing.
-
Do you have a ski card or something? lift tix online are sold out for Friday.

Honestly, im kinda hoping they just wait to open next Friday. Get a nice base on some key trails so they can hold on if we get some less than stellar snowmaking weather. Im not saying blow 3 trails 4' deep, but enough to get by just in case. I mean, maybe they can do that in 3-4 days, but at this point, why rush it. Does anybody know if they added equipment to lower main? Its been pointed out thats where the bottle neck for basically that entire side is. The entire season it was pretty thin there always.

I feel like that sign was there last year. And im pretty sure its just like the “experts only” sign they put up on coming soon. Just a suggestion, not enforced, and mainly ignored.
-
if this confirms, it should be a baller opening with the new snowmaking stuff. they will be able to open 60% of their terrain 75% sooner then they would with only 60% of their resources. The big take away here is that all 3 of these forecasts show the same pattern. This looks really good. Like purple eggplant times 3.

Good time last night. hats off to the host @Dirtwolf

i am like just one street away from a bunch of people without power. feeling pretty fortunate. its pretty interesting to be outside with all the snow falling off the trees.

I think siskel and ebert would give this 2 thumbs down Mike, at least in Albrightsville. Bbq grill and table show about 5”, but on the ground its half. I would say the ground is too warm, and lots more will melt tonight. i think its been snowing for most of the day and the bbq grill measuring device doesnt look any different. i think about 5 miles north, and maybe more from jack frost has way more. Actually i think montage was over a foot around 8-9 am.
-
Standard snow measurement device - bbq grill. mike, i have really big plans tomorrow which include replacing the water filter and mouse baits in the crawlspace, but i could probably see if i can move some stuff around to squeeze in some snow time. i will let you know whats up there when i get up there later this afternoon.

Im not gonna cancel my hair appointment for the 29th for sure. Marginal temps at best. I hope that gets colder, but no other forecast is even that cold.
-
a lot of the slopes at Frost are kind of golf course like. except east mountain. but if its heavy wet snow you aint going anywhere on those slopes. I dont think big boulder trail (or whatever they renamed it to) at BB is a rocky mess either, and has decent pitch.
-
According to Blue Mountain Chat Bot, they are open until 6 Pm Saturday, for anybody that might be in the area for some other reason that night.
-
Thats a nice trend for sure, but im thinking i will need to plan some other activity for next weekend that isnt skiing at Blue.
-
Nice. Even Accuweather is jumping on board for some accumulation. It will be nice to see some snow, but we can take bets as to what time Saturday it will all be gone. If you like or trust long range stuff, some models have something similar for Black Friday. i would rather just have some good old cold temps at this point, but maybe this is the pattern change.

I cant believe you are still hanging on.

How will the drought effect the 2025 ski season??
JFskiDan replied to paxonpro's topic in General Chat
As far as i know, nobody has public water for snowmaking, so i cant see how the EPA would be enforcing how someone like Blue uses the water they have on their land. I have a house in the Poconos on a well, and havent gotten any info that says i am under any kind of drought watch, although it would be stupid to be using water all willy nilly and everything, but my water use doesnt really affect anybody else except me. But people around me up there are simply as dumb as they come. it has crossed my mind about Jack Frost though, they pull water out of the lehigh. dont know if they could have some restrictions, or if they could have a problem with where their intake is, like if it is now above the water line. Big Boulder i think could probably empty Boulder lake if they wanted to. Might not be the best idea, but that water isnt used for drinking. i guess some could be filtered into the ground, and trickle into wells, but its not like its the reservoir for drinking water.
