  1. Blue is definetly good with communication on the social media etc...good or bad, people like to be informed. .JFBB...not so much. Im not real sure what they are doing there this year, but it seems like updating facebook and thier website is just a huge inconvienence for them.
  2. Blue and Boulder are both closing today because PJM is discriminating againts those customers that like the constant flow of electricity. Rolling blackouts to handle the electric demands of the cold temps.
  3. Fun day for sure, but definetly one of the coldest days i have ever skied with the wind. i have skied on MMR day before where it turned ugly by 10:30, but today was really just like any other weekend day. Not too much camo and jeans today, i would say todays temps help to keep people in the lodge or at home. Unfortunately they did groom 90% of the trails. Fun stuff at frost is always in the trees and the elevator. Challenge glade is still sketchy in some spots, it would have been nice if there was a better base further in the trees, but much of todays crowds were not real interested in tree skiing. Floyds was closed, but it sure did look like it was open to us. we had a short discussion with patrol on the meaning of different signs posted on the mountain, when i neglected to stop at the top of floyds and actually read the posted "closed" sign, which really looks alot like the "ungroomed" sign to me. i was curious as to why it was closed, since i had skied it two days prior, but they mumbled something about snowmaking equipment on the slopes (not), and management was looking after our well being. Before i made any more skiing faux-pas, i asked them if it was ok to ski the elevator glade and the elevator, to which they said that was fine. So, its ok to ski around trees in the elevator glade, and all the boulders in the elevator, but not ungroomed snow on floyds......got it. it was really just too cold to have the hands exposed today, so pics are somewhat limited. My Iphone also has a new feature that turns itself off when its feels lts too cold out. Happyland Elevator
  4. ^^^. Thats what i am hoping for. Trees got filled in a little bit last night also.
  5. I dont think they blew on it, so maybe not like rivershot, lightning. Elevator is silk.
  6. East mountain is awesome. Ungroomed fun.
  7. It really looked like it should have had some grip to it, but it really didnt. I took a similar picture after i slid about halfway down it. The bottom is tricky too with ice/snow boulders under some man made.
  8. Currently making some snow at JFBB. That little warm weather spell sucked.
  9. Floyds was "interesting".
  10. 12 days of christmas thing....log in "12days"......password "lights" Click "go shopping" This is an "anytime ticket", so i would assume no blackouts.
  11. Nothing is really "closed", at Frost per say, it just takes a little discretion, as to whether or not something is skiable. See above posts. Post #4 is Challenge glade. Post #12 is the Elevator Glade, Which i know they were putting down some more there earlier this week. I would be cautious about the glades on Thunderbolt, as a general rule unless we continue getting fresh snow. it doesnt seem to get quite love that some of the other glades get. Top part of Tbolt glade is usually ok, but as you go down it tends to get rockier and needs alot of snow to fill in. I have seen a bunch of people eat rocks on the lower part of tbolt. One park glade looked nice, but i didnt ski it. i would say it has nice coverage.
  12. Really fun day....kind of one of those days were its hard to quit. it would have been spectacular if we hadnt gotten the sleet/freezing rain on top. The untracked stuff looked so delicious, but was pretty hard to make turns in. Once it got broken up it skied real nice. this snow will really help to get all the fun stuff in play....December snow is a gift. Floyds looked rough....like for some reason they dont cut it. They were setting up for snowmaking there about 11 am. i would think they would be 100% open by this coming weeknd.
  13. How did i know you were gonna ask that? No.
  14. I would say 10" easy.
  15. They have one of the spare jfbb rulers.
  16. Crust on dust. Its nice underneath but needs to get broken up more. .
  17. Not trying to be debbie downer. Trust me i am more than excited to have snow in december. It just happens on a weekend i cant make it work, so i will do the best to enjoy it via webcam. My point was basically reaffirming what GSS said. If u want to ski powder in the poconos, u need to ski while its snowing. The snow will be great this weekend, and i think we will be on the higher end of snow totals predicted.
  18. Sunday would be good at Frost if there was a decent base in the trees. its probably better than last weekend, but it was sketchy then. I dont see East being open either. We all know all the Pa Hills will groom out gods gift to skiers to perfection by Sunday AM.
  19. Off the top of my head.....very early in the '90's.
  20. Southwest is about $500 round trip, unless you catch a deal, and they seem to be less and less frequent these days. Its so easy to rack up a free flight every year with their card. I think the most expensive lift ticket you will find in Utah is to the Bird, and i dont think the window price has even hit $80 yet. Get tickets at the ski shop on the way to the mountain and save a few more bucks. kind of ridiculous how cheap the tix are in Utah compared to Co. Last year i booked our car through southwest, and it seemed like depending on what day it was, the price of the car was different. I want to say the car cost us ~ $250 for 4-5 days.
  21. I'm in the same boat....and its fucking killing me. have to be back in the Delco area by 5 PM Saturday. Not sure i wanna take the chance of sitting on 476, similar to last weekends fun. I wish Chadds Peak was still open.
  22. Vinny - if you get a few guys together, look into a rental house. around 3 people it starts to become quite a viable option.
  23. Snow has begun to fall on East Mountain. No signs of Sasquatch.
  24. This is absolutely the truth. JF is never really that crowded, and its redeeming feature for lack of vert is the trees. (which are pretty far from being skiable) They are pretty limited on slopes right now, but i guess Tuesday they can really crank things up again. Blue has the most open, i believe.
