  1. i dont think the second would happen since it is a running and functioning business, just needs the proper people (or person) at the helm. Maybe some of the lifts need some attention, but from what i saw their snowmaking is definetly up to date, same goes for their grooming equip. Way more fan guns on that mountain than at JF. Glad to hear the interest in the place is coming from people within the industry.
  2. Damn...Germany. Way to make my weekend look awesome. lol.
  3. Definetly a Whiteface groupie myself....i vividly remember skiing in and out of the trees skiers right on Wilmington......which look nice. Whats it looking like in the trees? i would love for winter to hold on into March......this tr makes me want to go back....bad.
  4. Slopes were really nice early on. Crowds were normal for Pres weekend. When the wind really started to pick up around 11:30, it took the nice loose powder and blew it into the next county. Challange glade got blown off pretty good, very icy in spots. Left at 1 pm when i just couldnt take the wind any longer. Plus i was hungry.
  5. Dont kids under a certain age ski for free?
  6. They really frown on drinking at Beltsville lake. i can tell you that first hand.
  7. Take advantage of the circle for drop off, and even getting your lift ticket. if the ticket window at the circle is jammed, walk inside and go to guest services. guest services rarely has a line. if there is a line there, keep walking through the building to the entrance by rentals, there are ticket windows outside there that get little use. Getting to any mountain at opening definetly has its advantages, but i can understand the difficulty getting a group, or kids to the mountain before 10 am. periodically i ski with my neighbors kids, and its definetly starting to sink in with them about getting there early. After several 10-11 am arrivals on Pres weekend, they saw the benefit. The first time they got there early, one of them said "what are all the grooves on the snow"? Another parking option is the lots closer to powder puff and frosty, any normal weekend that can be a great option for basically slopeside parking. Nice for a quick lunch, if you pack, or just to have a beer. This weekend will be crowded, but i think you would find the lift lines to be less than Blue or Camelback.
  8. I'm heading up tomorrow for a change of pace. NMSKI? Anyone else?
  9. Fun day today, but unfortunately the goods were wore out by about noon. Crowds were heavier than normal, but still not a wait at the lift. Rocks were really starting to bubble up to the top in the glades towards noon, as much fun as we were having in them, it was really taking a toll on our bases. Grooming today was spectacular, except they missed skiers right on lightning. Lower part of Risk it was nice, but i thought the top was a little sketchy....Phillycore disagreed.
  10. It is, but does every trail have to have grooming on it? Days like this dont come to often in pa.
  11. Its also groomed.
  12. I like when NOAA is onboard with significant totals, since they seem to be a little on the conservative side at times. http://www.erh.noaa.gov/er/phi/briefing/packages/current_briefing.pdf
  13. i think Sno might be a dandy option for Sunday.
  14. Whats your number for "core group"? and why has it been weeded down this core group? Think about the number of people that ski in PA vs the number of people on this board. There might be something that keeps people from posting here. i'm not calling you out or anything, but think about it.
  15. Radio station day tomorrow? i told you every time i take off on Friday there is someting going on....lol. Challenge glade closed on Saturday? I'm not feeling that will be the case. Good to know the base on Challenge glade is better.
  16. This weekend will be off the norm with the snow. Typically i find sundays less crowded. But....it seems winter storm Nemo might go into Saturday. Will that keep people from driving up? Maybe. I think with snow in Philly, Sunday will be more crowded than normal.
  17. Somethings brewing. http://www.erh.noaa.gov/er/phi/briefing/packages/current_briefing.pdf We shall see. I like the phrase "nor'easter"
  18. Was a pretty weird snow system....albrightsville, not so much, lake harmony more, Blakeslee (JF) not so much either.
  19. JFBB website says 3" fresh. lol. i think i have figured out the JFBB ruler. JF + BB = Inches reported on website. i have a solid 1/2"-3/4" on my deck and i'm probably 5 miles as the crow flies to Frost. Looks like i am at Frost tomorrow to enjoy fresh pow.
  20. I think some man made on top of ice will be the theme for pretty much everywhere this weekend. i see the guns are going on East.
  21. Can you see Russia from there?
  22. Most likely. sort of thinking about sno......but still debating.
  23. Last weekend when Ridge Racer, NMSKI and myself took advantage of the $25 morning ticket, the guys running the nastar showed us this poster for the upcoming weekend. Seems like a pretty good deal to me, and after the great time we had there i thought i would pass it on. i am liking the deals that sno throws out there.
  24. Another fun day at JF. Good to make some turns with another PASR in the house. Not much to add, Challenge glade showing thin in just the few usual spots, but still skiing top to bottom, which has last year beat hands down. One park glade still on point, and things were softening up just a little by the time had to depart. i imagine things skied quite well for the balance of the afternoon.
  25. Fun day at Frost today. Managed to hook up with Guitar and C1 around 8:45or so..we found PC just after 9, and Vinny at 9:30. Elevator was good early on but the little bit of powder quickly got scraped off. Still very skiable with hardpack underneath. Challange glade was great first thing and stayed pretty good throughout the whole day. you could really make nice top to bottom runs with very little obstacles. One park glade was pretty much money all day. We checked out the trees by Janes and Ridge run(?) but they havent seen the treatment that Challange Glade has recieved, very little coverage. By 11, PC had to go Disco, myself, Guitar, and Vinny made a few more East Mountain runs before Vinny had to go retrieve a relative from ski school, and hook up with the rest of his party. Bumped into Tinymoose at the bottom of East Mountain lift, and it looked like she was enjoying herself in the clinic. A few more runs and Guitar and myself went to the lodge for some of the imfamous JF food. Lodge was crowded, more crowded than the slopes for sure. After lunch we hooked back up with PC around 2ish, and i rolled out about 2:30 having my fill for the day. 2 snaps for the day - Picture of C1 taking a picture on Floyds Vinny in Happyland
