Bump Floyds. Im not in love with bumps, and i am far from good at them, but its something different.

For Ridedelaware? - as promised foliage pictures from the poconos. Seems like the east and west facing gutters of my house had the most leaves in them...maybe there is something in the farmers almanac that will have some insight as to what that means for this winter. Overall it seemed like pretty low numbers, i was anticipating more. here you can clearly see a nice handful of leaves, mostly oak, i believe. they are pretty uniform in shape, and i would say they are pretty small. They are fairly dry, and will definetly crumble if not handled with care. i have no idea what the leaves have to do with winter, other than they fall every year as predicted, but it was 43 degrees Sunday morning in the poconos.

i think im going to clean the leaves out of my gutters this weekend.....i will be sure to post up type/size/color/density etc for you.

These long range forecasts for winter make me laugh, and seriously, do you really think they carry any weight? the farmers almanac? what was their prediction from last year? i dont recall anyone making predictions late summer or early fall that said we would have a snow event on halloween, and then not so much for the rest of the year. i dont recall anyone saying that it could be one of the warmest winters on record. i think i remember something being posted from accuweather that said we were in the "battle zone" for last year. i would have to say we lost that battle. Big Boulder will open as soon as they can with one little trail that 1,000's flock to just to get on the snow. Blue and Frost will open a week after that.....weather permitting of course.

Told you...once again the Times eats their words.

10% is a big chunk of change. i guess the local government cant get their revenue from the people that live there, so they have to go get it from an establishment that actually helps bring revenue into thier local economy, and provide jobs. nice. Maybe i have read the artticle wrong, but it sounds like to me Bear has simply not paid the tax, and the authorities were given the green light to pursue it. if i were Bear i wouldnt be handing out checks unless i was asked for it. now if Bear wanted to get creative, they probably could. like charging $50 for parking, but for a limited time only, you get a free lift ticket.....buy this awesome Bear Creek T-shirt for $60, and get a free lift ticket......the list goes on.

neat place moe....in the same vecinity as the other house?

it kinda sucks that one of my two powder days in PA, the lifts were not even spinning for. it was pretty dissapointing to have more snow in october, than maybe we did all season. weather wise this year was drastically different than the pervious 4. Utah did not dissapoint. Right now i would take the worst day this season had to offer.

"Transportation Engineer" ? No. But i do have a CDL.
-
nice work avoiding the slammer PC. luckily, you are DUI at .08. holding a CDL makes you DUI at .04. its pretty easy to acheive .04, it sucks.

http://www.4x4offroads.com/four-wheel-drive.html Read down under "lockers". AWD doesnt interest me, therefore i know nothing about it. i have owned plenty of 4 wheel drive trucks though. when your average 4 wheel drive vehicle gets stuck in the snow, (not mine, i never got stuck), 1 wheel up front spins, and one in the back spins. and thats why the owner of the vehicle, says " my 4 wheel drive is broken. thats why i got stuck". having a vehicle where all four tires spin at the same time, at the same speed will consume a ton of gas, and is actually quite hard to steer, and borederline dangerous in slippery conditions. it will however drive straight through anything. some differentials will spin all 4 until you start to turn, and unlock one to allow you to turn. this needs to happen in the front and rear, or the rear axle will just try to push the vehicle straight.

really depends on what type of snow it is. 4" of heavy wet snow that turns to ice once driven on, and one of those huge ass hills in manayunk can be a formidable opponent for most vehicles. well, except of course, yours. so my question about the tracks that just "slip right on to your truck" (lol)....do you have to have locking rears for these to work? most 4 wheel drive vehicles are really 2 wheel drive...1 up front, 1 in back.....1 wheel on the front and rear is only driven. it may switch back and forth depending on traction, but the other one in theory is just along for the ride. i kinda think without all 4 wheels being driven, putting that huge track on there would be like driving around with one wheel locked up. on hard packed stuff, it would probably be ok, but not so much in anything soft.

i like washers. kinda like horshoes, i guess, but portable.

Things you like to see for the 2012/2013 ski season at Sno.
JFskiDan replied to KCSKI's topic in Montage Mountain
in my opinion elk would be the bomb if they had Frost's very liberal "ski anywhere" policy. so if sno was to have some tree skiing, i would skip elk for sno. -
Who has passes for Blue that they wanna give or sell to me?
JFskiDan replied to sexkitten's topic in Blue Mountain
would you be able to clarify that a bit for me? we all know Blue has some interesting finacial programs...like turning Friday into a weekend. (1) "Blue is honoring season passes from anywhere in the state for the rest of the season", provided the passholder pays the full amount. (2) "Blue is honoring season passes from anywhere in the state for the rest of the season" , we welcome you lost souls from Jack Frost, and ski for free on us, any day!
