how am i supposed to eat soup if i dont have an envolope?

they rent it, and use it when its not rented. so for me to use it i kind of feel like i would possibly take rent away from them, i just dont have the place at my disposal. its not my place, its theirs. if i go with them, its kind of a last minute thing, and i'm skiing alone. i'd rather ski with my buddies.

my parents have a place off Sachem trail. havent been there in years, like before Jackson Gore.

crystal ball says......to early to tell. i always kick around the idea of a trip to vermont early season, but then i quickly come to my senses about driving 12 hrs back and forth to enjoy "early season" conditions. it could just be me, but i dont see how spending all that dough is worthwhile unless the mountain is damn near 100%.

very nice this morning.

Yawn.....and the never ending debate continues.....

maybe?? no. snow in the glades at frost is kind of a given. They dont look at them as an after thought, they listen to thier patrons.

We expect North America and the Pacific Northwest region to experience a very severe winter, the Cascades snowpack is likely to blahbidy blah blah blah blah increased levels due to the negative (cold) phase of PDO. Our weather models are also showing an increased likelihood for major snow events in Northeastern and Midwestern parts of the US throughout December 2011 and January 2012, that could see severe blizzard conditions hit New York City and Chicago. i never really put too much faith in these long range forecasts. fun to look at, but dont want to set myself up for a huge disapointment. i thought most people said Philly would get like 20" of snow last year, but that got blown out the window, and we got like 12" in december in one shot. i've also heard this winter will be kinda cold, temperatures going above and below normal, with some snow, the threat of a lot of snow that turns into a big flurry event, maybe some ice, and a few uncalled for wet days.

as much as i like your optimism, i think you are setting yourself up for disapointment.

more tree clearing at Jack Frost.
JFskiDan replied to RidgeRacer's topic in Jack Frost & Big Boulder
i was sort of over in that area on an exploration mission last year. at the time there was marginal snow coverage and put it im my head that i needed to get back there when conditions were better, and someone was with me. unfortuanatley it was kinda late in the season and never got a chance to get back there. definetly planning on going back to check things out this year, provided we get decent coverage. -

Quote The leases for the land underlying Jack Frost and Big Boulder may be terminated by the landlord and if terminated, would eliminate revenues from these resorts. We do not own the land underlying the Jack Frost and Big Boulder resorts. We have entered into a lease with Big Boulder Corporation and a lease with Blue Ridge Real Estate Company, both of which terminate on December 1, 2033. The terms of the leases provide that the landlord has a right to terminate the leases at any time, upon the payment of approximately $500,000 plus the net book value of the assets relating to the property. If these leases are terminated, we would not be able to operate Jack Frost and Big Boulder, and therefore, the revenues generated by these resorts would be eliminated. Jack Frost and Big Boulder generated 7% and 6% of our consolidated revenues for the fiscal year ended April 30, 2010, respectively. There's some really interesting accounting data in the SEC filing, that maybe someone can better decipher, but if I'm reading the top of page 17 correctly, JF/BB have consistently done well over 11Mil in revenue for the past 3 years. JFBB generate 6% and 7% of the consolidated revenue, which is 11 mil? so peak is doing close to 100 mil? that sounds pretty decent for a seasonal business, but i guess thats depending on what thier operating costs are. posted on thier facebook page - "10 shares with each season pass purchased before 4/28/2011"

same here - i thought this was going to be about some awesome new stuff at elk, when in reality its just about landscaping. But it is always good to hear about improvements to a mountain. Elk would be the bomb in PA if they let you ski the trees.

if thats blue, i need to reconsider where i get my season pass for next year.

i'm subscribing to this thread as well, since my buddys 11 yo son has out grown his current skis and has his heart set on a pair of twin tips. i was thinking 140 or better for him as well. my thinking was get something a little longer and let him grow into them, and, i thought twins were typically measured tip to tail, making the actual skiing surface less.

looks as though skiing in PA is done for the season, except may day.
