so then this weekend should be the last weekend Boulder is open. Except may day i guess. They still have like an 8' base over there.....crazy amount of snow. Nice of Camelback to stay open so long. i had 3 nice days there since Frost closed in February.

the trees have me a bit perplexed as well, but i think they are refering to their zip-line thing that is set to open next weekend.

they definetly have an interesting ruler for measuring snow. on a side note, there is way more snow near BB than there is Camelback.

actually the snow has picked up some.....about 3" now.

1 1/2 inches in the poconos. still camelback should be decent today.

now Friday thru Sunday.

I'm with you on that one....a selective snow. one that only falls directly on the slopes.

Great news..since everyone had such an amazing weekend at Camelback Mountain Resort and because Mother Nature is being so kind by bringing us this cold weather...we're planning to do it all over again this coming weekend! The weather is looking better and better as the week rolls on. Camelback plans to be open from Thursday, March 31st through Sunday, April 3rd for your skiing and riding fun. FORECAST SOUNDINGS ARE PRETTY SOCKED WITH LOW LEVEL MOISTURE AND THE NORTH TO NORTHEAST FLOW IS NOT CONDUCIVE TO CLEARING. SO WE MAY HAVE MORE LIGHT RAIN OR DRIZZLE EARLY, A BREAK MID DAY AND THEN THE ONSET OF PRECIPITATION BY THE END OF THE DAY. WE BACKED OFF ON THE GFS TIMING SOMEWHAT AS IT REMAINS THE FASTEST MODEL. THE LACK OF A SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE TO THE NORTH WILL KEEP THE BOUNDARY LAYER RELATIVELY MOIST AND WET BULB TEMPERATURES ABOVE FREEZING. WAS CONSERVATIVE WITH MAX TEMPS, MANY PLACES BELOW STAT GUIDANCE AGAIN BECAUSE OF CLOUDS AND ONSHORE FLOW. COME THURSDAY NIGHT AND EARLY FRIDAY ALL BETS ARE THEN OFF AS THE LOW IS FORECAST TO INTENSIFY FAIRLY RAPIDLY. THE GFS THERMAL FIELD IS COLDER THAN THE UKMET OR CAN GGEM (HI RES ECMWF NOT VIEWABLE IN TIME). BECAUSE OF MARGINAL TEMPERATURES THIS HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BE A HEAVY WET SNOW EVENT, NOT EXACTLY A UTILITY`S DREAM. WE LOADED IN SOME CONSERVATIVE SNOW AMOUNTS IN THE GRIDS FOR NOW, BUT THIS SHOULD BE VIEWED AS A VERY FIRST GUESS WITH REVISIONS TO FOLLOW. BROUGHT MIN TEMPS CLOSER TO FREEZING FASTER OVERNIGHT BECAUSE OF ANTICIPATED MIXING OR CHANGEOVER AND WITH SNOW PROBABLE ON THE GROUND IN PARTS OF OUR CWA, WENT BELOW MEX MOS FOR MAX TEMPS. This is a pretty broad forcast from Delaware to upstate PA. Alot of the cosmic tumblers in the universe will really need to come together for this to really be great, but it could definetly be something. The 1.5 to 2.5 numbers they are using are liquid, not inches of snow.

camelback says open this weekend with $25 lift tickets, and maybe, just maybe some new snow. Plattekill sounds interesting, but imo its not a daytrip. Elk says they are closed for the season on their website. Colorado seems to be doing pretty well.......

will you honor my CBS local tickets that i intended on using at Frost 3-19? i think they expire 3-31.

by eleven it was mobbed. and people still coming in when i left at 11:30. Camelback was awesome for offering $25 lift tickets, especially since they were practically 100% open, and the conditions were awesome. i over heard from someone who worked there that it was like presidents day weekend crowded. glad they made thier buck....wouldnt it be nice if they opened next weekend?

i was there from 9 till about 11:30, when i just couldnt stand the lift line anymore. great conditions though.

the drive to Hunter for me is what kills it for a day trip. so i need to make a long weekend out of something like that. and at that point, whiteface just isnt that much further.

if they are 100% open this weekend, and with the temps forcasted for the next week, they should have the snow to be open next weekend. hell, maybe they will even have a passholders party next weekend if they open.

Thats it in a nutshell right there. since we have had some warmer days, most people are going to flower shows, car shows, tailgating at the local wal-mart....etc. there is definetly a much smaller audeince for skiing in march, then say January.

thanks for the update.....this might be a good option for myself as i have used my freebie at camelback, and would be paying probably double that on the camel card.....hmmmmmm.....gas+$20 to ski elk, or little bit of gas +~$40 for camelback....options, options, options.

coverage isnt really the issue, its $$ with PA mountains, so dont count on it. the rumor floating around is saturday will be thier last day.

got on the snow about 10 am after getting my free pass and camel card. met up with PC around 11 am. trails by asp and rocket were the best runs. they stayed nice and skiable all day. trails on the other side like pharro were piled up pretty good by noon. good coverage on the trails, there are some spots coming through, not to bad though. the nice lady at guest services was hinting that next saturday was looking like their last day, and wasnt sure about being open during the week. watched a little pond skimming too, which was pretty comical. we left a little after 2 pm. good spring skiing.
