this storms all over the place. like johnny law said, this could do real well for the poconos, provided it stays on track. but i am reading more like wednesday/thursday.

Cold morning. PA Ridge Racer, Phillycore and myself met up first thing to make some turns before they had to head off for check in. i was kind of suprised to see that the near zero temps had really firmed things up some. areas that were playful powder yesterday were hardpack today. Our first run down the elevator was eventful, as things that looked soft, werent so soft. Challenge glade had some leftover powder in it, but also a few very icy spots. PC ventured way off skiers right of challenge glade to find some powder in some really tight trees/brush, and came out releativly unscathed. Managed to ski a bunch of runs with PA RR and PC, up until i left at about 12:30. we even made a run down challenge through the gates they had set up for the race team. we should be forming the JF-PASR race crew shortly. Good snow day, finally got to make some turns with PC. A few pics. Top of Elevator PA RR PC PA RR PC JAHHDIP

good day - i think like everyone else, i thought twice about skiing today with the cold temps, but light winds and sun made it perfect.

yep. Risk it. Elevator will still be good too.

Back from morning session at Frost. Very nice conditions, 5-6 inches of fresh powder everywhere. very light crowds. Didnt ski too many trails today when e-glade, elevator, and challenge were all prime. ROTD was challenge glade - best day of the year for sure, nice to kinda jump the bumps and have a real nice soft landing. The elevator skied real nice today as well. skiers right still has lots of powder on it, the runout at the bottom of that side still has some big snow boulders covered up. the area in between E-glade and the elevator is filling in nicely. some pics.... so much snow in all the right places.....keep your fingers crossed....could be a repeat event.

next week right now looks big - but there may be some temperature issues.....4 or so days away.

it looks like LV - Poconos are in the jackpot zone for Friday. Could be decent. Snow next week too.

Tomorrow morning is going to be very interesting to say the least. this weekend is looking promising, though.

PASR Day @ Jack Frost (1/30/2011)

ha ha ha ha ha ha ha....... on a more serious note, this ones gonna be close for LV and north....hopefully some snow then mix/ice/rain....ice sucks. there could be a few inches behind this one (insert Angry Hugo reply here) midweek, then a chance for something late week.

who's getting 7 inches?

Rolled in about 9 am, met up with PA Ridge Racer to make a few runs. PC was in the house but never could connect. Saw C1er in One Park Glade. Started out real cold, snow was white....blah, blah, blah. Picture is worth a thousand words..... PA Ridge Racer JAHHDIP

i have been doing daily IOW (instead of working) sessions at frost this week. conditions were nice today, challenge glade is getting pretty bumped up with just a few spots where coverage is getting a little thin. baller route on the elevator is hardpack, skiers right still has some fun powder in it. skiers left on thunderbolt is currently ungroomed, and looks like it may stay that way. one park glade continues to be overlooked and is always nice, like challenge glade though, there are a few spots to be careful of. no lift lines to speak of. i have been skiing frost pretty much all week and i havent seen anything above 24 degrees here. as GSS would say, "its ubber cold". i would image blue temps to be slightly higher, but not that much higher.
-
fluffy, you seem to be somewhat connected at frost so i will ask you....is there any way we can get the fine grooming crew to mow down the huge snow boulders on floyds? skiers right, below risk it. thats a really fun place to play when there is some fresh powder. currently its kinda dangerous. thanks in advance.
-
definetly a good snow day. nice powder everywhere. the baller route down the elevator isnt holding snow real well in the usual spots, but skiers right is deep with powder. Risk it is skiable but the ride out can be tricky. challenge glade deep. one park glade is still awesome. PA Ridge on elevator Pa Ridge in Risk it. JAHHDIP

pretty good snow in the poconos considering its not suppossed to really get going till a little later. snow shovel is tuned up and ready to go.

bumps on exhibition. trees will be good if we get a few inches.

conditions were really nice today, as i was somewhat put off by saturdays less than stellar conditions, imo. Either they blew snow all over the mountain, or there was a nice burst of snow last night. really nice powder to be found on the mountain. Challenge was closed due to some racing type event, so i didnt get a chance to run down challenge glade at all. Headed over to east mt. to make a few runs before meeting up with PA Ridge Racer. i was plesently suprised as to how much powder was spread throughout the trails. the elevator really had some nice deep powder in it on the right side. i think the wind was blowing enough to deposit it nicely there. skiers right on the elevator is really nice, lots of powder, but you can still find a few rocks mixed in. in between e-glade and elevator is coming around too, a little more snow and it will be prime. since challenge was closed i headed over to one park glade, where they were setting up so ropes to close one park off also, for some type of competition. i managed a few runs down through there before i met up with PA Ridge Racer. One park glade had alot of nice fresh in it, with a feew spots scraped off. met up with PA Ridge Racer as they were putting up the rope to close off one park. we headed over to east mountain to ride the elevator. we stopped to check out risk it, but it looks pretty dicey....kinda just one way down since there are a lot of snow boulders pushed in there. got in about 8 runs or so with Dom and called it quits at about 1 pm. Good snow day. 2 elevator shots of Dom under really cloudy skies. JAHHDIP

tomorrow will be nice for sure.

i pulled into an empty parking this morning at frost, much to my suprise. turns out it was empty because i keep forgetting they open at 9 am on weekdays. anyways, just before 9 am i headed down challange glade which was very nice with i guess about 3" of new snow. made my way over to East Mt, where i was the first one to enjoy the elvator glade and elevator. elevator was nice and powdery on top of some fresh man made snow. it would appear as though the slope got some snow blown on it, but the run out at the bottom is still real sketchy. i really only had to share the slopes with about 10 other people up until about 10 am, when it started getting a little more crowded. i rode the elevator a couple times before heading over to one park glade, where i found a nice pile of rocks traversing in between slopes. i guess we had a little meltdown over the past weekend. one park glade continues to be a one of the less skied tree runs, and it still had lots of untracked powder in it, unlike challange that got skied off pretty quick. back over to East for a few runs, where both lifts were spinning, which is an indication things are getting crowded, since they dont run both lifts together very often. the slopes on east mt where getting pretty congested, i made another few runs down the elevator and rolled at about 11:45. a few crappy cell phone pics. elevator glade challenge glade this is the snow gun fluffy made reference to a few post back. i applaude them for going to the great lengths to get this moved and set up here, but unless they are commited to this for a few more nights, im not sure i get it. this is below what i think is called little cliff huck, under the east mt lift. you can come down from challenge glade, (which seems to be where they concentrated making snow) then cross under the lift, onto this little trail, which i think is little cliff huck, but it really should be called "filled with lots of rocks". they may have been trying to fill in challenge glade, more so than make under the lift/little cliff huck skiable. its just a little odd to me, thats all. personally, i would rather see that fan gun parked at the base of the elevator. all and all it was a great morning, its kinda just ashame that today of all days had to be the most crowded day of the year.

i'm going for first thing in the am, until it gets to crazy. last time it didnt get really bad until about 11:30.
-
correct. eagles jackets, jeans, camo....it can be somewhat entertaining until the slopes are just littered with people.
