the drive to Hunter for me is what kills it for a day trip. so i need to make a long weekend out of something like that. and at that point, whiteface just isnt that much further.

if they are 100% open this weekend, and with the temps forcasted for the next week, they should have the snow to be open next weekend. hell, maybe they will even have a passholders party next weekend if they open.

Thats it in a nutshell right there. since we have had some warmer days, most people are going to flower shows, car shows, tailgating at the local wal-mart....etc. there is definetly a much smaller audeince for skiing in march, then say January.

thanks for the update.....this might be a good option for myself as i have used my freebie at camelback, and would be paying probably double that on the camel card.....hmmmmmm.....gas+$20 to ski elk, or little bit of gas +~$40 for camelback....options, options, options.

coverage isnt really the issue, its $$ with PA mountains, so dont count on it. the rumor floating around is saturday will be thier last day.

got on the snow about 10 am after getting my free pass and camel card. met up with PC around 11 am. trails by asp and rocket were the best runs. they stayed nice and skiable all day. trails on the other side like pharro were piled up pretty good by noon. good coverage on the trails, there are some spots coming through, not to bad though. the nice lady at guest services was hinting that next saturday was looking like their last day, and wasnt sure about being open during the week. watched a little pond skimming too, which was pretty comical. we left a little after 2 pm. good spring skiing.

i checked that out too...still snow in one park glade. i thought about that, but as you would say, the logistics dont work. i think i will use the alien pass at CB sat, make a few short runs at BB sun, then if next weekend is still in the cards, use the camelcard for some type of discount. if next weekend didnt work out for whatever reason, i would be kicking myself for not getting to camelback this weekend.

Ehhh....in my honest opinion the snow didnt come first at Frost this year. It certainly did at Boulder but not at frost. When we had the warm spell at the end of Feb, things were looking pretty bad that weekend, but then they got 8 inches the last monday of feb, and a few more inches like a week ago or so. had they not gotten that last 10" of snow, they wouldnt have been open last weekend.

i knew i should have made that bet with you yesterday.

well, since frost closed up, i think i may take advantage of the freebie this weekend.

Thanks for the reply. As a passholder, i for one look forward to this every year, and am pretty dissapointed. It was always kind of a nice note to end the season on.

it was really nice. they still have a boat load of snow. Elk would absolutley positively be the shit in PA if they had Frost's liberal skiing policy......so much could be had in the trees. the plan was to scope out something worthwhile before we had to leave, but ended up leaving sooner than planned. Good day though.
