  1. i'll be there. 8 am.
  2. snowdrift is awesome. its like a magnet for drifting snow since it sits lower than the two trails beside it. i figured it would be pretty nice today.
  3. more pics...... crowds were light P A Ridge Racer in the e-glade P A RR heading down the elevator great day.
  4. PC - real sorry you couldnt make it up today....but i know the stuff you like to ski is going to be just as nice tomorrow, as it was today. what a great day.....definetly worth playing hookey for the rest of the week, to enjoy a day of skiing that we just dont see much here in PA. i dont know what the total snowfall is so far, and well i just dont care...its alot. tons of good stuff at Frost today....elevator - just as predicted by Jordan, its a bit slippy at the top, but definetly still cool....skiers right where the bumps are is loaded with powder though. e-glade definetly appreciated some new snow. challenge glade - nice, nice....lots of fun to be had in there. the trails are nice too, but the place to be is on one of Frost's many off trails areas. pics are coming in slow today - for some reason i dont have my blackberry software loaded onto the computer since windows 7 blah, blah, blah. my internet connection is just in the toilet.....i got 2 downloaded so far. whiteout conditions in the microclimate - standing at the bottom of rivershot, the elevator to the left all and all, just a great day. until i decided my car would look better parked on Dom's front yard. it doesnt look it, but she's stuck in a ditch. heading back over to get her out now.
  5. see ya there.
  6. you aint joking about that one. got home at 3, and just got done.....3+ hours later, and thats with my neighbor hitting the one open spot in my driveway with his snowblower so at least i could park. i do have to shovel part of the back yard so the 4-legged one can poop, though. deep stuff, but seriously a waste when philly gets pounded and the poconos get flurries. i saw the accident on the e-glade, probably just after it happened. brown coat, black pants, i believe, and i thought to myself that kinda looked like JFBB gear. hope he/she is ok..kind of a reality check when that happens. frost was nice today, but the elevator really needs some love.
  7. way too funny..i skied there, looooong time ago. and i bumped into that website in like october. pretty cool stuff. everyone used to call it chadds bump. i spent some time on google earth trying to put together where everything was, but really couldnt pinpoint where the slopes where, for obvious reasons. the pictures kind of explain why. if my memory serves me right, wasnt the parking lot across the street? awesome pics.
  8. nice day at frost, not the best snowstorm, but i will take 3 inches of snow over no inches of snow. challange glade was nice with some fresh powder since its getting bumped up real good. C1 and myself pulled up to the elevator at the same time, only to find it wasnt what we expected. no snow on the top half. bummer. theres a couple of icy spots now, first hand experience with them, less than desirable results. met up with P A Ridge Racer at boulder at noon, snowdrift was nice, as was the run under black forest lift. Boulder has some cool little tree runs, hopefully they will get even better with the possibility of some more fresh on the way.
  9. still no snow in the poconos.
  10. i'll be there.
  11. things are shaping up nicely for saturday. i think this is accuweather being conservative. i have read some other things that say push those totals up quite a few inches. But.... its only wednesday. we could get feet of snow, or it could be 55 and sunny. this is after all, PA.
  12. another great day at Frost....conditions were real nice...again.
  13. got to the mountain about 10 am, made my way over to east mountain. conditions are great, but somewhat depressing that the rain and warm temps took away some of the snow in between trails making it hard to cut through onto other trails. good snow on challenge and elevator glades. the elevator itself is still way cool. not to crowded at all, the lifts were moving along quite nicely with minimal to no wait. made a bunch of runs on east, then headed across the mountain, to roll over to BB where i met up with P A Ridge Racer. BB was just as nice, we hit snowdrift a bunch of times, the snow was really nice on that little run. hit dragonfire, mittle wig, and bunny schuss to round out the day. left at 3 pm. it was cold. dawn patrol at JF tomorrow if anyone is around.
  14. i'm with you on that one. dont have to worry about where you park it, dont have to wory about how close it is to something, park by feel, back up until you hit something....etc
  15. nice seeing you again Barb......after me and Barb exchanged the secret JF handshake, i headed over to east mountain wher i found PC and the un-grounded Serch. PC was testing out his toboggons (aka ninthwards) before he heads out west. Those things are really ugly....his descrition of the color was spot on. Floyds and challenge seemed to be the best runs for the day. the elevator was challenging for all of us today, we all had our own issues there. the snow was real hardpack, which made turning kinda interesting. i rolled out around 11, to try to keep ahead of the rain/snow/ice/freezing rain/sleet. jahhdip
  16. x2....kudos for being able to pull this off...i get excited when i can squeeze an extra day out of a weekend....
  17. sweeeeet....i will see you there. i'm kinda excited because its not going to be 15 degrees blowing 30 mph.....
  18. that sucks mike, and i'm sure its for no good reason, too. new topic.....PC, you heading up this weekend?
  19. seems like playing hookey worked out pretty well for you. today was kinda nice in philly.... anyways, i hope condition are similar this weekend.
  20. i'm thinking i will be doing the 9-12 session. brown jacket, orange hood, white helmet. i will be on east mountain.
  21. met PC and Serch in the lot. headed to east mountain were we ran rivershot over to the elevator. the elevator was in good shape early on so we made quite a few runs at it. Barb stopped over to say hi and made a run with us down rivershot. bumped into C1er twice, i think, he pretty much had the same agenda as we did. P A Ridge Racer caught up to us by 11:30. Dom and John decided to check out risk it, i opted to be the photographer. risk it seemed to live up to its name, definetly challanging. elevator glade is bumped up pretty good, but still skiable. P A Ridge Racer in the elevator glade PC in the elevator glade Serch on the elevator P A Ridge Racer And PC on top of risk it PC in tons of powder
  22. i'm in. looks as though there may be some additional members on tap for tommorrow, with varying arrival times. maybe we should meet top of east mnt lift 9am, and like 11:30? if anyone wants to meet up that is. brown jacket, bright orange hood......might wear my dirtbike helmet tommorrow.
  23. i skied wmmr day last year....ok till about 11, then i rolled because it was pretty crowded. the slopes will be fine for the weekend, their groming is always top-notch. anytime you ski early, you wont be dissapointed. MLK will be crowded, Pres weekend will be more so. usually Usually C1er has a quick conditions report like around the 9 oclock hour which is nice when you cant make it out first thing.
  24. got on the snow about 8:30 or so...made my way over to east mountain where i found PC and Serch. made some nice runs alternating between rivershot/elevator, floyds and the trees on challenge. trails were awesome, lots of nice poweder. the elevator is still in ski-able condition, but its definetly showing signs of a well used trail. deep in the challenge glade the snows getting pushed off pretty good, closer to the trail is nice but not quite as technical. we ran the trail under east mountain lift to retrieve my ski pole that i dropped off the lift for no good reason what so ever. the top 2/3 of the run were pretty nice, the last bit will be nice when we get another shot of snow. we went back for round 2 of this run since PC thought the cut-off on skiers right would be cool to try. PC lead the way, where he quickly found lots of rocks covered by a dusting of snow. we were advised of the rocks but Serch was determined to give it hell, but eventually the rocks had a negative effect on his forward motion. i hiked it out after some good advice from PC. we spent the last of our runs together on the lesser skied tree runs on the east side. i left PC and Serch to ski with another friend who got to the mountain about 12:30....just in time for longer lift lines, blowing snow and uphill winds. skied 4 more runs, and rolled out. another wonderful day at Jack Frost.
  25. boulder had similar conditions. just back from a late afternoon session. crowded.
