i agree with that part, there is nothing worse than boots that are uncomfortable. but... i think you should rent the whole package for the first 2 times out, to make sure this is something you want to persue. i have often thought about learning to snowboard, but never once considered going out and buying the equipment before a test run or two.

everytime i look at the long range forecast it changes.....it keeps flipping back and forth between snowmaking weather and beach weather. of course i cant help but look..... my guess is sometime after the 15th.

i think an early november opening is being optimistic. i can be wrong, and i actually hope i am, but it seems like 25 degrees at night might be pretty good for making snow, but is 40 degrees or more during the day counter-productive? not trying to be a "debbie downer", just trying not to hype myself up for something that might not happen. when i looked at the long range on friday it was much colder right after halloween than it now shows. so...yeah, the long range is a guide that will probably change considerably by the end of this week.

fun, fun, fun. now lets concentrate on getting some snow on the ground. looks like the temps right after halloween are heading in the right direction. i would say everyone is ready for some snow. 3 "cool points" to the crew at JF.

"smartwool" socks work real nice for me.

now calling for 5.6" in lake harmony through saturday. when i looked this morning it was 1.6". yippeee!!! heading home to put on all my ski gear and enjoy some snow sodas.

its a good sign to see snow in the forecast for October....at least in my book it is.

you are 100% correct. it just took me a little while to figure that out.

there were a few other factors working against her skiing that day: 1 - i cant teach. dont know what i was thinking. 2 - it was cold and windy out. 3 - she had to wear a hat, and that was "destroying" her hair. if she didnt have to wear a hat, i think she may have been ok.

yep, tried that...didnt go so well. her words to me were, "YOU need to find a way for me to get the fuck off of this mountain. she was the ultimate handbrake.

i like P A Ridge Racers november 19th date, from an earier thread. which would mean 4-5 trails for black friday. But really, its all up to mother nature.

i am also prepping for a nice trip to whiteface, with a lay-over at gore, possibly. seems like out west might be a bit out of reach for me, for a few different reasons. lately i cant get this place off my mind for some reason.....

i would skip the season pass for right now, see how many times you actually go,, and make the season pass decision later on. dont forget JFBB should again offer a season pass sometime in Feb that will cover the balance of the current year, and the following year...if i remember correctly its quite a good deal. so...can we get back on topic here or what? wait.....what was the topic....skiing or school?

wal-mart allows people to "camp" in thier parking lots. might be a small grey area between camping and sleeping in a car though.
