Total renegades! We commented over the weekend that uphill isnt allowed, but the mass of people just walking up the slopes to watch thier presious kids race, is more than cool. lol

Saturday at CB? But Blue has ridic lines? Fucking LOL dude. i still think your "friend" would be better off with an Epic pass.
-
You know buying next years pass will shut down your RFID card, and require a trip to customer service to get it all back working again. I too would like to see some type of deadline. I have a buddy pass i guess i should try to give out to a deserving soul as well.
-
Make sure you tell your "friend" about the "waiting in ridic lines at Blue and skiing the same 1000 footer every weekend." I would think advising your "friend" to buy an Epic pass would be the way to go.

I feel like this is pretty much when it comes out, just after pres day weekend. Keep in mind, offering it this year in march wont get much “ski the balance of this year”
-
I was really on the fence over buying an epic pass, or a Blue pass, but thanks for helping me make up my mind knowing i wont see you at Blue!
-
I had said the pass price would start with a 7. I was wrong, and can admit when i am wrong. But i was close, but close only counts in horseshoes, hand grenades, and diarrhea, i guess. the 2022/2023 thing at the top of the page is a little weird though. Typical for Blue, but weird

I wonder if indy will have a 6th grade pass this year. I feel like skitoolives kids are in their 5th year of 6th grade.

2/18/23….way better than expected.
JFskiDan replied to GrilledSteezeSandwich's topic in Blue Mountain
goes to show, that when you go to Blue with low expectations, you can walk away surprised. Today was good. Solid 7.5, which really could be a little higher based on thinking it was gonna be about a 3. Thought today would be but -

If you are going to borrow something, go for an SR-71. Wanna see me be impressed? show up in one of those.

I have told many people this year, that next years pass will start with a 7. i will stick by that. Probably do some type of current passholder perk i would think. They really should just do $799 and 1 free full tune for current passholders. If you run the Skiitooolive numbers on pretty much anybody posting here, its still cheap as fuck to go slide down some man made for the season. Plus, at that price, not every Tom, Dick and Harry will be buying a pass. less people on the slopes in my opinion makes for a better day i will pay more for.

When i was in College, me and 2 friends drove to Canada to go skiing, basically in an ice storm all up the east coast. Where ever it was, Tremblant, or Mt St Savoir, or whatever, the lady at the ticket window kept telling us "very fast skiing". After 1 run my buddy said "very fast skiing my ass......this is ice cubes on top of ice". Terrible trip for skiing, good trip for drinking, as the drinking age at least then was 18, and we were all under 21.

De-icing. Gunnison is a neat little airport since they re-did it, its alot like JH now, just not as over the top. So they dont have a lot of flights go out. So the people at the counter who check your bags, are the same ones that handle boarding as well. But it kinda runs at a slower pace.
-
I ran from one to the other. I had always considered the Gunnison flight being a problem, and i must have been a little sleepy when i thought there was another DFW-PHL flight like an hour after my scheduled flight, but second look showed that was incorrect. i spent a small amount of time trying to come up with plan B, in case i got to DFW late, but the options sucked bad. So, yeah, i was the asshole on the plane yelling at people to get thier shit together and get off the plane or get out of the way. I was going to do whatever it took to make that flight.

But wait......it gets cold next week! Its like the umpteenth time we have gone through this cycle, looks like cold air 7-10 days out that never comes in. I dont put alot of faith in forecasts that far out, but this year its been particullarly bad, almost always trending warmer. Dont even think for a minute we will see snow either of those two days either....lol. Sounds like this warm/rain spell is really doing a number on things, But so glad they opened Challenge and Switch, rather than build up the base on the trails already open! The grim reality based on the trends, its hard to imagine we will have much of a season in March.

it hates the cold. if you keep it nice and toasty warm its ok. i need an Iphone jawn to keep it warm. but yeah, its time for an upgrade.

What a fantastic dayat CB! Couple inches overnight and snow for most of the morning really filled everything in. I really wanted to step up my picture game, but my Iphone set a new record and was dead by 9:30 am. Snapped 2 pics from the first lift ride. ran the usual laps with a quick lap off the north lift before meeting Barb back down at East River. After we split up again i ran back up to the north lift to get a few more fresh laps there, then went back towards hard face for something a little more challenging. Big drop to get in, but rewarded with some deep turns. Down through some trees, and back to the Paradise lift. Didnt quite make the route i was looking for that @RidgeRacer and i took that dropped us down right on top of Rambo. It can get pretty interesting back there, its rocky and cliffy, and its hard to navigate, so i moved onto the frontside to finish out my day. Over at horseshoe springs i was rewarded with some untouched on a small steep face, after the trees, but had to hoof it out again. Very low crowds today, actually less then yesterday. Finished up on the frontside which wasnt crowded, and could easily find some nice soft snow on the sides of the trails. snow pics from Barbs after a phone recharge. Usually the mountain view. Not so much today quick session tomorrow then off to the airport.

Back relaxing at Barbs place after another fun day at CB. Switched up the routine this morning to hit the steeper groomers off Silver Queen first then over to run some fast laps off Paradise. Dipped in some trees to find some really crusty stuff with yesterdays warm afternoon temps. Went down to the trees off East River, which were better but getting firmer every day. Bumps are still decent, but kinda depends upon what side of the trail they are on. Lunch break around noon, and thats when the clouds rolled in and visibility was poor at best. Clouds yielded snow, went back to the frontside to the trees at Horseshoe Springs, which skied well, but there are a few rocky areas to avoid. Ended up in a gully that was up in either direction to get out, so worked off lunch doing that. Low crowds today, no Eagles jerseys. Looks like about 2" fell in the afternoon, and hopefully the overnight snow produces.

Busy at CB today. Big crowd early on but we got in a few real nice empty groomers. Bumps and trees are getting a little banged up, anything in yesterdays sun was getting firm, but still skiable. Left at 12, the incoming bus unloaded a full house. Took a walk in town with Barb, as we got ourselves in the mood for Ryce, only to find out they are closed on Sundays. Stopped at the Pita place and had a nice lunch. The Pita place has a bar, and people were definitely there claiming their seat for the game. Weather turns a little snowier tomorrow.

Perfect, sunny, warm solo day at CB. Ran the groomers until about 10:30, then dabbled in the woods and bumps in between trails, while trying to keep myself out of liftlines, as it got pretty busy, or at least busier than its been. Using the singles line was a 50/50, sometimes it was faster, sometimes i watched groups of 4 just cycling by. 2 observations here. its very infrequent to find someone skiing something they shouldn't be on. Maybe this is at most resorts out of our area, but it sure is a nice break from human slalom. And there are a TON of little people half my size here that just rip this mountain up. Barbs neighbors kid is 7, and supposed to be just at another level. Met alot of Texans, and a bunch of people from Telluride. weather might start to get a little more interesting depending on what forecast you want to believe, but most of them point to tues/wed for some decent accumulation. I leave Wednesday, but the flights in the afternoon, so i will probably add a day to my pass and ski in the AM. time will tell on that one. At lunch i was running the numbers as to how much each run is costing me based on what i purchased the 6 day pass for, i had an outstanding revelation that had i gone ahead and got the Epic pass, i would have saved 20% on my lodge food probably totaling up to a whopping $25. So to offset that i am drinking as much of their free water as possible. More sun on tap for tomorrow, and hopefully lower crowds. Jadip 2 crappy pics coming up.

Another great day at CB with Barb. Cold start, but sun was out in force. Nice fast groomer runs off of Paradise, and then some trees and bumps down at East River before lunch. Ran some laps off of Silver Queen after lunch, some slicky slicky but still edge-able, dipped in some trees, played in some bumps. Trees are pretty tight at CB, so probably spending more time in the bumps. legs feel way better today. My Iphone 2 is circling the drain, and the battery goes dead really fast, so picture time is limited to first thing in the am, or right after i can charge it a lunch, so pics are pretty limited.
