Even JFBB has a vid on FB about their new lifts. FYI, all of the chairs at JFBB sold. They dont have any left that are "going quickly".
-
no, you are correct. i dont know what im thinking. for some reason i keep seeing a concrete block swinging around behind the station in my mind. good thing im not helping build it, huh?
-
Depending on what he spent, probably doing what seems to be taking the other pasrs forever, which is painting them up cute, add some new flair, and then reselling.
-
this little picture is kind of odd. I think we all agree that the footings for the towers are poured. They probably cant actually erect anything on them until the concrete cures. But, at the same time, stations are where i would imagine the load being pulled from, like i mean the haul line gets tensioned from those 2, so like they are almost like trying to pull the footers out of the ground. i would think the load on the tower footers is really pretty much just straight down. I would have thought the top and bottom footers would have been poured first, but who knows. it looks like the pad behind the shed is where the counter weight would go, so, maybe thats the really important piece to that puzzle.

I forgot about this. How much were they going for?

i guess i have just grown to expect the least from Blue in this department. less disappointment this way.

so Jay Peak was sold at auction today. https://unofficialnetworks.com/2022/09/08/jay-peak-sold-76-million/?fbclid=IwAR1FDvv7OafTEK8wPFwpAwE5zyO-WnJDRJ8jp12rKYTx7F9zMNCV1bZoXa8 Doesnt really mean much to me, except i find it interesting Vail wasnt one of the bidders. Does Vail feel like they have the area covered, or are they feeling the pinch on their debt? Dont want a 4 season resort? Sold for 76 million, when they spent 264 million on peak resorts, but i dont know how Mt snow or hunter compares to Jay.
-
I was thinking they would do this primarily for opening. They already blow on that when they start early season, it would be way less ground to cover than shuttle/homestretch or whatever that trail is that is the first left coming off shuttle.
-
They closed Beltzville for swimming for the balance of the season due to low water levels. which kinda seems odd, but i guess when there is less water to disperse the diapers the bacteria count really goes up. they said if the water goes down more, the boat ramps will be inaccessible.

Yeah, he posted some bizarre speed on some facebook page and got totally flamed, and if i recall, then deleted it. It was pure gold while it was up tho.

Today is a 10/10 for august. What a nice day.
-
Agree. i find it very un-Vail like. In the end for Vail though, selling them for $200 (+ im sure) or $500 isnt going to show up as a huge figure on their spreadsheet in the end.

jfbb chairs go up for auction on the 9th. all of them starting at $200, and some proceeds go to the lake harmony FD. thats pretty cool of them. https://givergy.us/jackfrostchairsale/?controller=lots&category=All Lots&fbclid=IwAR3YCyLKlO8Q0S-aGRxroCSs2nKoPqm6U7x4CThCyNV3vsrt3vOQJjC0-x4 i doubt these chairs will get to the price of the gold plated BM ones.

This is the benefit of having the trash compactors. No cans out on the street for them to get a hold of. Im sure they find some close to peoples homes, but i dont have to look at it. Holiday Pocono is bear central due to trash pick up there. its like a smorgasbord.
-
One morning walking my dog in the Poconos someone yelled at me from across the street - "there is a bear about to walk out of the bushes in front of you" With my dog being the complete asshole he was about other animals, i quickly got him turned around and beat feet in the other direction so he didnt see the bear.
-
Not that i have seen tons, but the black bears around the Poconos dont seem to be problematic, but brown bears are definitely a different breed.
-
Nor did i, but it is flattering to see how much space we both occupy in Saltys head.

Wax your shit up. Vail announced JF opens on friday december 2nd.

if my memory is good, its wilmington trail. and if my memory is really good, i think the sugar valley glades are off over there as well, which are a ton of fun.
-
i have only mowed once this year, right before 4th of july. i thought i was gonna have to do it last weekend, but it wasnt too tall. i will probably get away with just 2 cuts this year.
-
Vail is limiting ticket sales at all of their resorts this year to avoid over crowding. No limit on pass holders though. what a great way to drive sales of their pass up even more. this should be fun.
-
For those that were considering cashing in your bitcoin for the chairs at Blue, JFBB will be auctioning some off soon, according to a recent FB post. you might even be able to beat some of the others that bought them over year ago, into making something functional about it.

Skiitooolive will be so proud of you for the accurate accounting measures you have taken to figure that out.
