  1. On a scale of 1-10 for eating shit, first run on challenge was low, like a 2, maybe a 3. Small little pods of ice. i bet that went up pretty high as the morning progressed. Coming soon was probably an 8, it was nice up top, first couple turns down the headwall were silky smooth, then the carpet was pulled out from under your feet. Upper main was sweet until you got surprised by its evil twin, lower main, which wasnt really all that bad, once you remembered you were of course, still skiing Blue Mountain. Switch was good. Paradise was decent too, nice grip around the turns. It could have been worse.
  2. All this peanut talk has me hungry for some nutter butters.
  3. I just saw that possibly Magic is without power. sounds kinda like its windy AF up there huh?
  4. My money is on Blue will make snow. Vail will not, at least in PA and i think for Hunter. It should be interesting though. I have seen a bunch that says keep the ski gear waxed up for March.
  5. More semi local people with epic passes than semi local people with a Peak JFBB pass, from years ago? I guess the lure of other mountains could drive those sales some. Its just really odd to me, how much more crowded it appears to be these days. i mean, they had people parking on the road a mile away one weekend.
  6. i remember the first time i skied there seeing the pipe cutter sno machine thingy. looked like something i would roll out of my shop in a weekend
  7. Yeah, i get it, Vail sold alot of passes. But why werent the masses flocking there when Peak had a pass for $500 with 4 free buddy passes? And i get it, ski a couple places in PA, and Hunter really isnt that far, but, lets face it, JFBB isnt the pinnacle of PA skiing. It just doesnt make that much sense to me, that these people are like, "well, i have the pass, so i might as well go ski some really short runs at JF?"
  8. NMDW is my fav trail, so its unlikely i would bitch much about losing any other trail. I was never like, yippee we get sidewinder back. Not sure why, i mean NMDW and side both have turns, which i like trails that turn, but, and this is probably another happy accident on Blues part, but NMDW just flows so well under speed. I would trade coming soon for NMDW. yes, coming soon is cool, the trench is badass, natural bumps are where its at, but ehh, i dont know.......maybe the new trail smell is starting to wear off. if vail is nothing else, they are very safety conscious. or, terribly afraid of being sued, take your pic. Taking the sign for risk it down sort of fits in with what they have been doing with renaming trails and whatnot, and i mean, if you are going to have a trail sign, its sort of inviting people to ski it, and risk it was very seldom skiable, and for what it was, a little dangerous. It doesnt sound like the glades and off trail stuff at Frost are what they were years ago. I would have to assume Marks Way has been taken down too.
  9. Vail is trying to run all of their resorts from a big chair in Colorado. They lack understanding of local markets. Tubing is huge in the Poconos. I get having labor issues, but they are missing out on a huge market. They left a whole big bag of money on the table, then slid it over to Blue Mountain, and said "here, we dont want this. But if you know anybody that wants to buy a season pass to 40 usually overcrowded mountains with lift and snowmaking issues, let us know, ok?" @EdBacon i cant for the life of me figure out where all of the people are coming from that ski JFBB either. I have never seen crowds like this, and it seems they are giving less of a product from when i skied there. 2 years ago i would have bet money they would at some point quit running BB. Peak may have had their issues as well, but they were never shy on running lifts to keep lines down, or snowmaking at every opportunity early season.
  10. Im pretty sure me playing golf sober-buzzed-hammered shit would be a negligible difference
  11. i think i would absolutely have to drink playing golf. like excessively.
  12. Did you hear this from some guy you met on the lift last week from texas that know someone that lives down the street from vails HQ in CO? seriously though, i will have trouble giving Vail money next year for the (what i consider) BS they let ensue this year. They can apologize all they want on FB, but in the end they just need to run their resorts properly. What Vail is doing isnt good for skiing.
  13. Great day today! Sneaky snowy superbowl sunday with an over performing storm. This rarely happens for us. Looks like the LV was pretty close to being the jackpot zone. lots of good turns today, some baller chili in the lot with more talk of the super summit safari 6 pack.
  14. Hopefully they will have a contest to name it before we ride it in style in November.
  15. main was super good, as was midway. Just think, when the Super Summit Six is installed over the summer, we will be able to do a nice widowmaker to midway without having to ride the Debbie Downer Double Double.
  16. oh damn.....sorry to hear. take it easy and get back at it when you are able.
  17. i will gladly trade pioneer pass for Coming Soon. I dont even know where Pioneer pass is, let alone strawberry shortcut.
  18. He dieted Sunday when he missed Pizza Sunday.
  19. We have heard alot of this lately. Friends of friends, who talked to some guy in a full face helmet, that they couldnt hear great said....... The old "Blue" is still working on the Del Boca Vista lodge. its been a "work in progress". New Blue with KSL? dunno, i mean they finally finished coming soon, that was nice. Are we getting a new lift? I'm not holding my breath. Keep in mind, they also have to work on paid parking, paving the lot, reconfiguring the lower lot to accommodate valet parking, trail expansion, updated LED lighting, and the new all you can eat (topings) at the Taco Bar.
  20. Gross. My truck spills blinker fluid like crazy. That stuff is bad for you. Seriously though, i had a friend that was a part time Delco cop, and he couldnt help himself when it came to telling people he was "an off duty cop". It was like embarrassing hanging out with him when he did that.
  21. Accurate. Weather and coverage will not have that much of a say in when they close.
  22. Sounds about right. Delco cops need to let people know they are cops, or they are a relative of a Delco cop. Apparently the guy felt that telling the security guard loud enough that you guys could hear that he was a cop, was going to make everything ok? Everyone in line is now supposed to have the utmost amount of respect for him?
  23. I wouldnt lose any sleep over any type of long range forecast, unless of course you think they will be open in April.
  24. I just saw it was boppin around some. Definitely keeping an eye on it.
