Frost never used to get huge lines. Now of course back when i skied there, they were running more lifts. The big weekend lines back then were back to where they have the ropes set up. And, i dont know, i mean, is Cecily stopping for a coffee and danish on her way down? 90 seconds? Its quicker than that. Arent they replacing East Mountain with a Quad? I guess when that happens, that line will be cut down by half. @PA Ski Dad i have an Epic pass this year for a trip out west as well, but i would like to think i will boycott Vail next year.
-
Is that east mt? What other lift did they have running? I assume the 3rd lift had to be a beginner lift around like snowflake or what ever. did you see anybody walking back up?

Theres a ton of fun stuff to ski off trail at frost, but when there isnt enough snow, it can get old real fast skiing the trails. I saw some photos from yesterday that wernt so good either. Hopefully for the greater good of skiers, Vail gets their shit together. But they will probably just have the GM at frost put out one of their cookie cutter apology videos.

Shitty snow to plow. I had to kinda plow it in little pieces to get me a path from the shed to the road. Kinda why i like snowblowers.
-
not sure if this will work, but i guess Okemo is on wind hold. https://www.facebook.com/1439841266/videos/1105472940270776

yes, thats mine. i stole the plow off my other quad, and made it fit this one. no need for it to be taller, as it has done just fine for the past 12 years. oh yeah. packs down like cement.
-
i guess like 5-6 inches? Had to be 6 inches on my truck, but theres not much on my roof so i assume it was blowing around before we got rain/sleet. Fucking heaviest snow ever. Looks like it will be around for a while though.
-
Thanks for the tip on the plow. When i get done plowing my driveway, i will look into a plow for my quad.
-
i have forever wanted to mount a snowblower on my quad. why? just cause. Should be super fun to clean up, since both my deck and driveway are solid ice underneath from last weekends round of awesomeness.

Sierra Cement in Albrightsville. I need that guy that says you shouldnt use a snowblower under 4" to swing by and have a crack at shoveling this goo. Any hoo, the bouy has been popping some, There might be something brewing for the upcoming weekend again.

i am sure they have seen what kind of sales numbers Peak did with tubing, so, yeah, why they wouldnt keep printing money in the Poconos is beyond me. Also trying to pry every last cent out of spectators pockets with cocoa and fruit roll ups adds up to big dollars. Kinda shows that Vail is really just focused on getting people on the pass.

1/15...chilly..nice snow..PASR day.

Today was good. Wicked cold, but with battery powered heat on everything, it wasnt quite as bad as i thought it would be. Doug is spot on, main good, switch good, NMDW ok, and Zinc or Swim was a special treat. Its been said before, but what ever guns they use, filtered water with no zinc, or big mac secret sauce injected into the mix, the snow is great on that trail. -
I thought this as well, with all of the festivals that they allow people to come to and trash the mountain, the cardboard classic would fit right in there. the only thing is, its geographically further for the main audience. Geographically, Spring would be the best fit.

Yeah, right? I mean, a friend of mine is a die hard Cardboard Classic guy.....i told him in November there was no way, and WMMR should start looking somewhere else to have it. A common friend of ours who works at JF, (and drinks the Vail kool-aid everyday) said WMMR might have a contract for the event and Vail may have to honor it. To which i said I dont think Vail has any interest in Tubing, this is the first issue.

Winter storm Izzy. We’ll see. I am now confident in saying Monday will be 50% snowier than saturday.

You may want to start thinking about how to make this work.
-
Skiing in general in PA typically ends up in disappointment, so why should the weather be any different. This will go back and forth for 4 more days, so yeah, its almost not worth paying attention to until like maybe Friday. The take away here is that Monday has a better chance of snow than Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. It might be a 3% chance, but its at least something.
-
Kinda sort of might be some snow brewing for monday. but it may also go south, fizzle out completely, or be sunny and 60 degrees. my snowblower is still safely stowed in the shed.

Fill out those surveys they keep sending us telling them their lifts "greatly impacted the experience you would expect from a top notch resort", or something to that effect.

aka, FOD, in airport talk.

Oddly enough, and maybe its just the angle of the sun hitting our lovely Mountain, but i dont see plums of snow anymore. Earlier i did, but not now. i did just see a groomer on NMDW. good sign, but doesnt mean its ready.
