Im not sure if it was the wake from the Zinc Queen barge hauling all of the summers dirty diapers away, but there was some movement this morning. Looking at right around Christmas.

2021-22 winter ski season thread...
JFskiDan replied to GrilledSteezeSandwich's topic in General Chat
Wow. Thats interesting. Vail cant get people to man the french fryers, yet they are buying up more resorts. And, where the hell is this ski resort in KOP????? Why the fuck do i drive to Blue? -
Well that was nice while it lasted. At least they are giving it the old college try when they can.
-
The fact that it isnt going to snow a bunch is a good thing, i think. Temps will be close to borderline, and snow would bring in tons of moisture. Blue is perfecting the art of making snow at 32 degrees. Hope they can keep them going for a while today.
-
I told myself i wasnt going to bring up the forecast for the weekend. But to answer your question, yes.
-
It looks to me like there is more bad than good in the forecast for the upcoming week. we wont get out of the upper lot for a while with temps going up and down like they are. I hope i am really wrong.

I dont think Vail cares much about the whole first to open, last to close. Even though BB is slated for some lift upgrades, i still think Vail looks at BB like its the red headed step child. like, "ugh, do we have to open that resort?" I feel Frost fits their business model a little better than Boulder. Boulder has the whole Park thing associated with it, not that its a terrible thing, but it doesnt seem the park scene is what it was 10 years ago. As a JFBB pass holder for years, i would have absolutely been way happier to have them working on Frost first. Big fucking deal they can open Freedom in like 24 hrs. To quote GSS, its a tilted table top. Frost may have a better snowmaking system. BB is all fan guns, they dont have a compressor there any more. not that the fan guns are bad, but it boils down to pumps at that point. Plus, the past few years BB snowmaking has been problematic with algae and whatnot. Keep in mind, years past, BB was first to open, but last to get 100% open. It will be interesting to see when they start snowmaking at BB.

I tried that and they told me i had to wait until the lifts started. I wasnt shocked by them telling me that, knowing that you have done that. the one hand never knows what the other is doing....... -

That seems to be the trend among resorts this year, as i have heard quite a bit about resorts charging full price for limited terrain. If Blue is limiting passes in any way, when one person doesnt want to pay that, there is always someone behind them willing to, sooooo....... -

i was never wowed by what i saw on the Main Street cam either, but it looks like Blue says its good to go, which is good for us. Since @toast21602has declared this a day of kindness, im going with "there is coverage", and everyone will enjoy themselves this weekend, drinking @Benm's boiler maker stuff, and force feeding scrapple to @RidgeRacer
-
I know! i'm Epic.....i have insider info. But they also have no working webcams, which seems par for the course. the no cardboard classic thing does not surprise me one bit. Everyone i know who used to go thought it was due to Covid, but the reality is, the only snow that fell on either tubing hill was from God. i dont know why, but it doesnt seem like Vail is interested in Tubing, and even less interested in the cardboard classic. Tubing is so stupidly popular in the Poconos.

Valley cam is back up! and all the others are still down.

looks like an inch or so on my deck, and the road is covered. JFBB is reporting blizzard conditions, and 6"so far.
-
When we do breakfast in the lot one day, we will make some scrapple on the flat top for RR.
-
For what its worth, i got boosted last Thursday, and had the worst reaction to this shot believe it or not. if the prep before hand helps, or actually works, like drinking water, etc. do it.
-
the only way i dont like it is basically under cooked. it should at least have a crisp outer layer. totally crispy like a potato chip isnt my fav, but it will do. Cant rush cooking scrapple.
-
you havent lived until you have had scrapple. it might be my favorite breakfast meat. Scrapple is probably like the only thing i eat, where i completely admit that one should ignore, or not know whats in it. Delicious. Friends of mine used to make it on their farm, so i usually got a few bricks.

i have seen some reports of PA, and specifically Delco's numbers heading up, but i dont ever see what is behind making them increase. We have had quite a few Covid cases this year at work, until recently, i thought our Vax rate was pretty high, but its not quite as high as i thought. The last guy to get Covid, didnt want to get the vax because he "didnt want to feel sick" i guess the reaction to the shot was what he was referring to. He said he would be getting his shots as soon as he was able. Waiting to see if we surge from Thanksgiving.

Thanks for letting us know.

Has anyone checked with that local guy from AZ?
