oh, and i thought you had done some cool web art design to your avatar, since it looks nothing shy of a rocket ship that you like to sketch so much, But now i just noticed i guess everybody has a rocket ship.

No, sorry, but aside from getting a spare tire for it, she is ready to go on some road trips. At some point, i will prove that it does exist, and does leave my driveway.

I wasted a whole bunch of gas cruising around in the '55 this weekend.

When i bought this house, it had the Fios LNT thingy in the basement. obviously they were not too concerned about getting it back when the PO shut off his service. i was with Comcast for 2 years, then switched to Fios. They added some gizmos to the old box when they set up my service. When i shut off Fios at my old house, i think i had to send them back my router, which was fairly new, but uninterested in the LNT in the basement. At one point in the old house, i forget if it was DSL, or Fios, but i called customer service for something, and the nice lady discovered i was on set on like super slow mode, based on my (theirs really) old modem. She upgraded me to a new modem, and started giving me direction as to how to go about sending my old modem back, then she was like, "wait, ok, just throw your old modem away. its not worth the postage."

Ok, so the Mr. Discomfort thing is an apartment type A/C unit. that thing there is basically the same as the pic i posted, but way smaller. So somewhere up in your living space you have an air handler pushing air through your vents, blah, blah blah. So the question remains, is that thing making noise when you turn it on? the compressor is in there, so it should be making some noise when it kicks on, and there should be a fan pushing air out across the condenser. Ben has a good point, did it trip the breaker? If you turn it on, and it doesnt make any noise, its for 2 reasons, no pow-wow, or its so low on freon it wont turn on. Turning it off like you did, then trying to cool your place 20 degrees may have just put it into cardiac arrest with how hot it was, if it was already running a little low on freon. That box to the right should just be a disconnect, no breaker there, the breaker will be where ever that line runs to, if its in your apartment. not knowing how big your apartment is, but looking at the size of the Mr. Playskool A/C, i would refrain from adjusting the thermostat. set it and forget it.

Same.

Was the spinny thing just inside the top of this thing turning? was this item making some noise?
-
I would have slept in my truck. Was the outside unit running?

Todays forecast The "Not Beltzville" is for the folks in Palmerton.

I'm with you, but at this point with the new management company, i would think they would want to ease into a project like that, not hit the ground running with it right away. And besides, who now foots the bill for the hotel? I still think there may be some other hoops to jump through before they can start on it anyways. Also, keep in mind, building materials are at an all time high right now. not that they would be building right now, and prices are on the way down, but they have to take that into consideration. Their cost wont be the same as it was in 2012, or whenever they started planning this. They may need to skip the heated pool and concierge service. @mbike-skican probably put a real figure as to what % building costs are currently up.

Look to see if the condenser (outdoor unit) or any of the copper lines coming off of it are iced up. If it is, shut it off and let it defrost. Theres not much you can do about that cause its probably low on refrigerant, but it will work better once it defrosts. If the condenser is all shitted up with grass clipping and leaves, take a hose to it. Was it blowing barely chilled air before you went into money saving mode and turned it off for the day? I hate to say it, but you should have the A/C guy install a lock on the thermostat so you cant turn it off.

Well, the summer solstice was like june 20th, so days are getting shorter. Nothin’ to bitch about there.
-
I saw that as well. Good news! Really low numbers.

That dude rags on Palmerton so bad......so funny. And echos the sentiments of most here that think Beltzville is a total shithole. (which may be changing? time will tell. should be an interesting weekend there)

I could set you up as a laborer on one of our paving crews......you would for certain have a different out look on the word "hot"

Theres a few different schools of thought here, but i go to the school that says you arent saving a dime by doing that. Turning it off at night might, but still, i think its pretty negligible.

My AC has been on for a while now. Once it goes on, i dont shut it off until September. I hate being hot. Fuck that.
-
Well, the weather was gonna do that to that particular piece of plywood anyways.

Well, i have a phone in my home, but i wouldnt consider it a landline. Do i ever answer it? No. I dont own my cell phone, so i figure i should have some kind of backup. I give that number out when i need to provide people with a phone number, and dont want to give them my cell.
