Our Christmas was officially canceled last night, which is really the best thing to do. I will be making a Christmas feast or myself though. If we cant have Christmas, might as well have the meal.

My gut tells me this year will be a loss for ski resorts, so the revenue will need to be recouped over the years to come. We all know that skiing is expensive for the person that goes 3-4 times a year. But has anybody ever rented a waverunner for an hour? in comparison, skiing looks cheap.

Dislike!

Well, heres the thing, and @toast21602can correct me if im wrong. Even though you test negative, it still doesnt mean you are, kind of. Say you were at 7 sirens, hanging out with the bros, and the next day one of the bros tells u he wasnt feeling so well, got tested, and he is positive. If you were to run right out and get tested, (1 day after sharin a few pitchers with him) you may come back negative for actually a few days. They actually recommend getting tested 5 days after your exposure. So, in my opinion, the test only tells you that you didnt "have" it at that moment the test was done. Also, its my understanding the tests are more accurate with a positive result.....like if you test positive, there is a very high accuracy rate, where as the negative results are less accurate, if that makes any sense. so in a sense, really the best thing to do, is to get tested "regularly". Getting tested every once in a while doesnt really tell you that much in my opinion. just might make you feel good. We have had good success getting our guys tested at 15toknow.com Usually we can get a test in a day or two. I saw CVS has it also, and when i went by the one last night, there wasnt a line of cars. But you will pay about $100 for it.

Opening Weekend roll call thread 12/11-12/13

That picture couldnt be any blurrier, but boy is that a nice sight. -
I heard the plow trucks and tow trucks are out in force. People suck at driving in the snow.

Looking at the cams at my house i would probably agree. jfbb is reporting 6. Actually, they arent reporting anything. I think they lost their FB password.

i will be right there with you. the last thing i want to do is go inside after 1 run, while the rest are making sweet turns down Vista. the web site does tell me i have an active pass, though. Just a thought here, if anybody has any computer hacking skills, theres about 6 passes i would like to be able to shut off randomly during the course of the year. Let me know. -

I know the skiing might not be quite as epic as where ever skitoolive is going, but seeing you fuckers again will be great. before i can have "is my pass gonna work" anxiety, i need to get over "im not really sure where my pass is" anxiety. -
They are doing what they need to. If they can only sell 100 tickets, i bet there are 200 people trying to get them. So why sell out in 10 mins at $50. if a customer doesnt want to pony up $$$ to ski, there is likely 6 people behind him that will. Let them fuckers that are complaining go somewhere else. they probably litter and are bad for stoke. Plus i just love when people make threats on FB like "im gonna drive 4 hrs and go to Elk instead". Yeah ok, hope your gas is free. Season passes are looking stupid cheap right about now.

Its my opinion blue and camelsack will be mostly at capacity, and the overflow goes to jfbb and montage.
-
The FB complaining is pretty funny. I guess at some point they have tickets for $109. I think tix to jfbb will be in line with that. Blue needs to maximize their revenue, with limited day pass tickets. I dont blame them at all for raising day pass prices.

One of these days, fucker, when i do exact my revenge on those who wronged me, you guys are gonna be hella upset.

I would agree with this. the amount of time i spend at work wearing a mask, is nothing compared to the amount of time i would spend any given day wearing a mask in line or on the lift. I havent tested out my Covid equipment with my googles yet, but the only time i see the need for myself to lower my mask is when im actually skiing to avoid the fogging of the googles. my theory is, there is a light at the end of the tunnel to this year long nightmare, and im not going to put myself or anyone else at further risk, just because i am "sick of it". I think mostly everyone here makes good decisions. The funny thing is, i mean sometimes ski boots arent the most comfortable things to wear, but we put up with them in order to ski. Mask just isnt that big of a deal.

I had no idea they actually existed. I sort of just made that up thinking some people wouldnt know what sky zone was.

Couple points to ponder here. Remember that there is a test/quarantine issue with people entering PA as well. So, theres a good chance some 2 platers that rent homes Christmas to New years, wont this year, add in the fact ski joints will have limitations on skiing participants, some might not want to even bother with skiing. The 2 least crowded hills are JF and BB. Although they do require a reservation, this may not turn out to be a big deal for them. I would actually think JFBB would see an uptick when Blue tickets sell out, and people start looking for an alternative. Can you show your references where lift capacity is cut in half? I have yet to see any firm number for PA as far as limiting the number of skiers. People that normally spend their time at Sky Zone, or the Bounce House, are unlikely to get it in their head that skiing is a sport they should just take up since their indoor activity is shut down.

I would agree, other than to really "open" the valley means some snow on Tuts, and connector(?) to lower park. really thinking about that though, theres quite a bit of real estate to cover just to do that, and i dont think they have like the big firepower in those areas.
-
This would make me nuts. i have figured out that i like going to work. Still sometimes not super crazy about my job, but going to work is nice. Its funny, i look forward to the end of the work week, but sometimes around sunday afternoon i start to get a little bored, and looking forward to work again monday morning. The introduction of skiing this weekend will be a welcome distraction from everything else.
-
I concur. If it was open Sat, i would probably ski that as much in one day as i did all last year. But really, just the extra terrain for opening would be such a better offering.

They are making snow at Frost. Not sure what the Vail of secrecy is all about. They are now officially worse at social media than Blue.
-
Well, it looks like it takes a full year for a resort to get fully Vailed. This was from FB 2 days ago - Author JFBB Hi Jonathan. As of right now, our projected opening day for Jack Frost is 12/11 and 12/4 for Big Boulder. We will do our best to hit those dates but we rely on Mother Nature to provide us with snowmaking temps so that we can do so. Now, heres the thing. I havent seen one social media post about making snow at either jf or bb. Cams are offline. One would only assume that they are enjoying the cold weather, but not making snow. Hunter is making snow, and has posts on social media about it. BB not being as "park" this year as others is not new news. we had "insider info" on that months back. You should call them to see if they care to open this weekend. Let us know.

I agree with Toaster. use the gift card yourself, or even sell it for $75 here, That season pass for herself is a no brainer. 3 days or something and its paid for. Go for it. You are doing good things for the economy of Blue, which is important this year.

i am the king of turning something that should be small and easy into complicated and expensive. Especially on someone elses dime.

Not that much $ in steel for this, and wont impact mowing that much. @toast21602 This is also one of those things i might get completely carried away with. Like making a gazebo or what ever to look like a lift station. bullwheel with some lights hanging from it, fire pit......something like this, A frame construction, and make it more like a lift station. a sign that says Mt. Mik, prepare to load sign, keep ski tips up, this lift services expert terrain only.......see how that can snowball into something huge? i will agree though, if legs must go on it, figure a way to bolt them on.

I just realized i have a set of Vermont plates in my Garage. Looks like me and TTC6 will be heading to Vermont this winter.
