And then there is this weird stuff that i saw on my local patch, that says Carbon Co is "concerning" There are now 21 Pennsylvania counties with concerning percent-positivity rates — 5 percent or higher. Carbon (5.1 percent)

It is crazy that NY has the most ski resorts, but the reality is that it just doesnt mean that much.

But i read something this morning that hospitalizations were up as well as respirators. Its kind of sad, but you just dont know what or who to believe. I sure would like to think the Bleach cocktail will be readily available soon, and we turn the corner on this thing real soon, but i just dont know. I get it, eradication is unlikely, but we have lived with the flu for this long.

Maybe you could find some good news prior to us heading into ski season?

I have been saying this all along. Its our God given right as Americans to congregate, go to bars, etc. Cant tell us not to do that. The opportunity to make an impact in reducing this was months ago. We screwed the pooch.

the real question is, does Blue follow suit with similar hours that dont include night skiing? Thats gonna put Eaf over the edge. But, TBH, that might be fun to watch unfold. In all seriousness though, it doesnt seem like they have the same enthusiasm for this upcoming ski season as Blue, but thats just my opinion. And i get it, this year is going to be hard on everybody, and clearly not tons of fun for operations.

Here is how it went down. Elk Mgr - ugh. This whole covid thing.....i dont think we should even open this year. Elk financial guy - we sold passes at the end of last season, and we spent that money already on trees. Elk maintenance guy - trees? Should i keep planting trees? Elk Mgr - yes. Keep planting trees. Its what we do. well, i guess we haaave to open then, its not like we can give the money back, and people already think Kalahari is buying us. Lets limit hours, and jack up prices. Not like we have a huge audience anyways. Elk financial guy - night skiing is total loser. Elk Mgr- i dont like working mondays and tuesdays either. Elk maint guy- plant more trees? Elk Mgr - i will get you more trees to plant. Be patient.

Monday/Tuesday (when open)/ Wednesday/Thursday/Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday/Saturday (once night skiing begins) 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Elk has announced pricing and hours for this year. Closed on Mon/Tues except for like Christmas week, MLK, Pres weekend, etc. I'm not up on Elks hours previously, but night skiing looks to be only Friday and Saturday. $795 now, $855 after November 1, and $925 after December 1.

Take one for the team. Wear a mask in line, and on the chair with people you dont know, or may even those you do know. Dont be part of the problem, be part of the solution. Here is how its gonna play out. 4 people get on the six. 2 of those people are bad asses, and masks arent cool, so they take them off, and now the 2 other people on the chair arent comfortable with that situation, they dont call the cops or anything, but now they decide they dont want to ride up with others they dont know. That 1 chair just became 2. and it just extrapolates from there. Might as well just be putting singles on the chair from the get go. I'm just happy they plan on turning water and compressed air, into a snow like substance, and they will be spinning the lifts, you know, when they cooperate. the whole wearing of a mask for the lift line and ride up just really isnt going to be that difficult. If people could follow the guidelines that Blue sets out with, it would just make things go smoother for everyone from the get go.

Dont you think really only the dumbest Palmerton people would show up without doing just a small amount of research about tickets sales before showing up? I mean, unless you have been living under a rock for the past 7 months, you should have an idea that things will be different. I wont deny that there will be some that just show up, but i dont think it will be a huge number. Oh.....and they are not going to "rent clothing". that just sounds weird anyways.

Steamboat probably isnt the most bad ass place to ski, but i sure did enjoy it both times i was there. I dont know anything about Sun Valley, but Steamboat would be a good choice for family stuff. You would have a great time from Christmas Tree Bowl over to East Face. Short in vert there, but super fun stuff there. Trees at SB are plentiful.

So Camelback is pretty much proving bunk on the myth that a high speed lift has to be so long? Rad.
