Im sort of wondering if the “quieter” ski resorts will see a decent uptick in visits this year. Should be interesting.

That sounds reasonable, Or a debit card type system. - If passholders have to make a reservation, then they have to pay $$ for missing the reservation, and have to pay before they can use the pass again, or make another reservation. I mean, i do believe passholders should have some type of added benefit over day pass people, but passholders making reservations just for the sake of making reservations, and skipping them, is going to really impact the resort. Its going to be tricky, no matter what.

Exactly. Even though our pass says unlimited, i am sure we are going to be restricted somewhat. We can get all up in arms about it, or just go ahead and deal with it the best we can. This will be a season like no other. nobody has the playbook for skiing when a pandemic comes to town. I will tell you this. IMO some skiing, is going to be better than no skiing. It will be a loooonnngggg winter for me without strapping some skis to my feet with you fuckers every once and a while.

Theres really no sense in getting your panties all in a bunch just yet, unless you plan on skiing magic mountain. I would anticipate at least some type of hoop that us passholders will have to go through, i just hope Blue recognizes passholders (many year after year) as having some type of privilege over people purchasing day passes.

Agree, i am sure there will be a lot more of these announcements to come. And the reservation thing bugs me as well, i mean, i pretty much know i will ski every Sat and Sun. But what is to prevent people from doing a reservation everyday, but only showing up when they really want to? This would hurt both sides of the party. Theres a lot to work out, but i think its really important that Mtns start putting this out.

Seems like Magic has put some thought and time into how this might work this season MAGIC MOUNTAIN SKI AREA FIRST IN THE NORTHEAST TO OFFER A DETAILED PREVIEW OF NEXT SEASON As Geoff Hatheway stresses in this preview, "NOTHING IS SET IN STONE", but this is their best guess and current plan as is. Notable are the following: Daily capacity will be limited to 50% of hourly uphill lift capacity. That means 1,700 people per day. Lodge capacity will be limited to 25% of rated capacity, which is about 200 people. Passholders will have the first opportunity to reserve spots before they become available to the general public for day ticket purchases. Additional outdoor spaces will be prepared as indoor space will be limited, especially on weekends. Things like picnic tables and outdoor heaters are likely. There are no plans to raise day ticket prices, in fact, season passes were already discounted.

There are lifts at BB that havent run in a while, and shouldnt run any longer. They dont need all of the lifts they have there. A friend that works at JF said Vail had plans for multiple new lifts at each resort. Then Covid came knocking, so we shall see.

So, if he recommends no fall school sports, would that mean ski clubs would be a no-go?

So many questions to answer, and so many unknowns. the one thing i am fairly confident of, is that Blue will be an utter shit show. I think they will tell people to wear masks, and thats about it. Will they limit ticket sales? They should, we all know the place is already overcrowded. Will there be restrictions on times, even for passholders? I think most of us here bought an "unlimited pass." But, its clearly a different year. I know the early hours benefit the majority, but passholders only from 8-10? Not saying passholders are limited to those hours only, but there should be some consideration for the majority of the passholders that continue to buy passes year after year. (and yes, i know that 8-10 is mostly passholders, but still it would cut back) What goes on in the lodge, isnt relevant to most of us, so i dont care what goes on there. And for the record, i doubt there will be improvements to the tent like structures they call the valley lodge, or paving of the valley lot. Give it up. Only one suggestion there - a walk up window for ski tunes. As poorly as this will go over, i think they may need to adjust their opening strategy to get more trails and lifts in play. Will more people run to JFBB for less crowded slopes over the better lifts, and terrain? Who knows. If Blue isnt to my liking this year with all this, i will likely go find somewhere that i feel more comfortable with. Right now, i have no intentions of getting on a plane, and i dont think that will change, so might be some Vermont stuff, but whats going on there? i keep reading something about 14 day quarantine, maybe thats only if you are coming from FLA? confusing. We could always pool our money and rent Platty.

Dont worry, i'm not making many friends right now either. The few job sites of ours i have been to, i havent seen too many of our guys being strict about masks. I know this will somehow come off racist, but the guys that are good about it, werent born in this country. A friend of mine at another company said the same exact thing. Its hard when at least 2 of our foreman are dead set on their belief that this is all a hoax, and will be gone in November. I have made it clear to our HR guy how i feel about the lack of mask wearing, etc, via email, as a kind of "hey i told you this......" Most people i have to deal with regularly are good about it. There was some interesting event that happened in the other office, that now those guys are wearing masks, where as they werent, like 3-4 weeks ago, and now the weekly meeting they have is done via conference call. There was also some type of exposure at the pool at my place in the poconos, which they have now since closed it, and pulled the lifeguards from the beach. Dont have the real 411 on that yet, but IMO it was just bound to happen. Edit - just found out the beach is now closed as well.

if its just a few houses without power, you are pretty far down the list, unless there is a big outage right by you. i have always felt this is when being a Peco customer (not switching suppliers to save $2/month) helps.

I think something a little stiffer would suit you better, especially for Blue. I would think the 104 is something sort of on the softer side, like my Jski's, the metal. That ski is so fucking bad on normal conditions at Blue i was convinced it was fucked up. Out west, or on soft snow, its awesome.

Honest to God, i was just thinking about this. Why do people honestly feel their nose doesnt have to be covered? Beer store i go to, i really like the guy, and has really stepped up his game with good local stuff, but doesnt like wearing his mask over his nose. I'm going with 2 strikes and he is out. Another store im not going back to.
