Awesome. Did I mention that it feel like the bowels of Hell back here in Pennsylvania with the weather? Great pics, have a blast.
-
Great photos, it looks like you guys had a great time. I have been back from Colorado for a month now and all I have done is cut my lawn in the 90 degree heat while you guys are going out and getting some. Awesome!

I think Julia Mancuso left Rossi as well and is now on Volkl. These people can win on any ski but it is interesting to see how Head has made such a huge surge in the racing market in recent years. They pretty much own all the racers now. Its a Head and Atomic world out there now.

Yup, I have been back in PA for about two weeks now...and am now thoroughly depressed. I'm cleaning up the bike and getting ready for mtb season.

+1 You will be the only people on this board skiing that day so please let the rest of us losers live vicariously though you.
-
I remember PASR day at Camelback last year fondly. It looks like you all had a similar time this year. Sounds like you had to start off with race skis and finish up with fat skis today. The sugar can make your skis do strange things.
-
Did you still have your ski gear on when you hit up the Rita's? That would have been cool.

Ajax and Snowmass close April 11, Highlands is April 4th. I heard a rumor that Johnny Style was going to show up at Highlands on the 4th and scare the kiddies. Closing is a combination of Mardi Gras and killer skiing. I figured GSS was going to hit it big in Vegas and fly you guys out here one last time.

Miss you Jeff... Today in the Cirque basin. Knee deep in AMF and Gowdy's all day. As you know, it was a ghost town today. Do you think the chicks will dig the new beard?
-
Awesome sunset. Thanks. Blue can be somewhat special when the sun is setting and there is nobody on the slopes.
-
First GSS now PSS. Add an "i".
-
I like your taste in music. I have seen all three of those bands and you are in for a show.
-
Considering what we skied, that isn't bad at all.
-
Here you go GSS, Brad Holmes from 1999's MSP film Global Storming and Shane McConkey's response from 2000s There's Something about McConkey. They synch is off and Holmes has a better rap from Ski Movie I, but you get the idea. That's Right...I'm cocky as hell, and if you want to talk smack I'll ring your bell. So fools don't give me a reason, to come to your mountain and school you next season!

Having watched these events live, many people crash and burn and are carted off in the patrolers sled while screaming in pain. The winners are truly insane. The gnarliest line of the day wins the sickbird award. I forgot to mention that this is all inbounds stuff.

These are in Hanging Valley, a different area than the Burnside Cliffs from the previous photo. These were only the qualifiers. Launching off of two trees: This chick rips:

They have the real deal out here. Jeff will tell you. People die out here every year hucking those things. Here is the final course for the Colorado Freeride series at Snowmass.

Ha, looks like my Blue Mt. ranking stuck. I am so, not, the number one guy. I would have liked to get out more this year (only twice). It's weird, I raced much less this year than last, yet my racing improved a great deal. Since I am already out here I am thinking about entering the National Championships in Winter Park. I'll keep you posted. I see a bunch of guys from the Mack Ski Team already registered. I too think that the Blue Nastar squad does a good job. I tipped them a twenty last year, sorry I wasn't around to tip you this year. To be honest, those windy cold nights sitting on top of Raceway seem so long ago already. Thanks mbike-ski and nastar glenn for making me feel welcome on Thursday's. Tuesday's for that matter as well. See you next year.

Ok, if anybody is out here, PM me and I'll give you the tour. All expert terrain.
-
Nice. FWIW today is absolutely bluebird, heading up in a few. I wish you had one of these days while you were out here but I know you won't be complaining about all that powder either.

Hello everybody. Some of you may have wondered why I remained silent during Jeff's trip. The one post in this thread is by my wife under my user name. Mainly, I just can't top Jeff's TRs. He nailed it every time. My goal was to give Jeff a quick four day survey of the valley. Obviously that is impossible to do, but at least I was able to show him some of my personal favorite haunts. There is a reason our family chose this valley as a home and I just wanted to share some of that with Jeff. I think he got it, and some of it may have rubbed off on him. I often use the term magical when describing Aspen/Snowmass and I hope Jeff was able to feel some of that magic while he was out here. I know I did. I hope these trip reports motivate you to go find some of the Aspen magic yourself.

No cougars yet, but we did see a coyote......

I'm not pushing it, only ten hour days this time.

I'm West of Indianapolis right now. Two more days and I pull into the Roaring Fork Valley!

Good for you. I still have my Stetson Middle School ski club patch on my tuning apron (it's over 25 years old). We used to go to Spring Mt in middle school and Doe Mt. (now Bear Creek) during High School. I was the ski club president at my school. Glad you were proactive and got some positive results.
