  1. I forgot about Shaun White's hit. Damn, that kid is tough. It makes for great TV to see him ragging on his own crash. The rest of us Mortals would be icing down our face in the Lodge after a hit like that but Shaun gets right back out there.
  2. I was just going to start a post. The big air jam format is such a winner for the X-Games. Wow, just wow. They have to keep this type of competition. So much better than the text in vote format of the past few years. Not only that, but there was some good carnage with those snow machine guys too. Blink and you missed the women's pipe final.
  3. And the three percent you can't access is devoted to a special race-course only lift that allows racers (and the beginners who are up there) a chance to do laps without having to mix with the general population and get right up to the course. Brilliant. That is actually a plus in my book. Snowmass has a similar lift for their park and race course access. I'm not saying Camelback is bad, I'm just saying that Blue is a 9 out of 10 in my book for what it is. Heck, Camelback may be a 10 out of 10. Seven Springs has decent lifts as well, but they never seem to run them at full speed when I am there.
  4. Thanks but it was a joke of a course. Two weeks ago Meyers set a 21m radius rollercoaster, but last night it was straight as train tracks. You tucked after the third gate on the headwall. It shows you flouro waxes do work boys. Meyers also had the worst conditions of the day when he set the pace. He had sand piles and warmer temps. The temps started to radically drop last night thus speeding up the course. It was nice to hear him go "Oh, you are the guy with the four handicap tonight, must be your suit." Additionally, after that Schladming-style course they set on Tuesday night, it was nice to do well. I was an angry guy on Tuesday after DQ'ing so many times.
  5. I participated in that survey and in fact rated Blue's lifts a nine out of ten. That quad and six-pack are pretty hard to beat for PA.
  6. Late Feb.
  7. With the exception of the company of some PASRs, yesterday (1/16) kind of sucked. I never want to say that skiing sucks, especially when the Sun is out, but the crowds at Blue this past week have really been intense to me. I know it will get better in February, but man, it is tough sometimes. There was some nice retro gear yesterday, some nice camouflage, everybody smoking cigarettes on the lift, etc. The standard gaper stuff. The only good skiing for me was in the moguls because they were empty. It was fifty degrees by eleven a.m. so things were getting soft. Barney's is laid out nicely and had my attention most of the day. With rain in the forecast I thought I might get up this morning for two quick hours, but after flashing back to yesterday, I went back to bed. Maybe I'm just having Western withdrawals.
  8. Yes it is, although the snow on the skier's right is soft. Also the park looks like it will finally be open by this weekend. 'bout time.
  9. I'll be up around 6:30 but living on Raceway for the NASTAR races. It's just me and the Vista lift all night.
  10. Steeze-Cam was interesting. Nice photos from the lift. Trust me boys, you don't want to be back here.
  11. I showed up Saturday. It sucked and I only stayed for two hours. I got in the car yesterday morning to do it all over again, said, "what am I thinking" and turned around after five miles and went back to sleep. The West spoils you. You'll find out in about a week. I thought about heading up tonight to see if I can latch onto a team but decided against it. Ten bucks says I could also find a few guys in the Tuesday night race clinic that would join, but since the Monday night league registration is tonight, I don't have any names yet.
  12. Oh well. That stinks. Team PASR is dead. Maybe next year. Thanks everyone for trying.
  13. I think we need to hear from A Jeff and Toast. I know that Jeff is in Wyoming this week, but the first night is just a practice night. He would be back in time for the actual races. Toast was kicking the tires last year, time to join up.
  14. Sorry Michski. My bad. Thanks for trying Brian. Potentially it could work like this: 1. Johnny Style 2. Brian 3. MichSki 4. Atomic Jeff 5. Toast 6. mbike-ski for fill ins. I remember last year that there were dudes looking to join teams on the first night.
  15. That would be awesome Brian. I appreciate it. Without you four there is no team. Go hook 'em up tonight. And where is Michski? This is his thread, put your name on the list already.
  16. Anybody else thinking about going up for the day? I would do it just to get the chance to hear that cackling, donkey-ass laugh of Plake. I guess nobody cares about ski heroes anymore.
  17. Slalom.
  18. I am going to try and start a team (Team PASR). I need five people at a minimum. Come one, come all. This is really fun and takes very little time. I did this for the first time last year and I want to do it again. I guess the list starts here: 1. Johnny Style.
  19. Looks awesome, congrats.
  20. FWIW I'm still out here and posting a daily pic over at epic. I posted this picture in the getting stuck on the chairlift thread but in case most people don't read that one here it is again.
  21. I wish I knew the voucher was waiting for me at the top, as I would have cut down on the obscenities a bit. Well, maybe not too much, it made me feel warmer. Here is a picture of the lift I was stuck on. It would actually have been cool if I were trapped above the jump line but I wasn't even close. Admins: Any reason why I can't upload pictures into my gallery? I had to sign up to photobucket to get this to work. Oh yeah, the superpipe is on the other side of the lift outside of view. It isn't open yet. They haven't even started up the Zaug. The pros will be arriving soon to practice here for the X-Games.
  22. I was on the Coney Glade lift today at Snowmass around 2 p.m. The high today was fifteen degrees. It was zero all over most of the mountain. At this time of day the Sun is setting behind the mountain due to the low angle and you are guaranteed a nice 5-10 degree drop once it goes away. As I am about to get on the lift the flunkie working it that day says, "the black thing just broke." Yet he still lets me get on the lift! I made it maybe five chairs into the ride when the lift stops. Gee asshole do you think maybe you shouldn't have let me on the lift after you noticed "the black thing broke." I was too high to jump. 30 minutes later they got it running again and I got to the top. Johnny was not a happy boy. Yeah I was mad, but props to the Aspen Snowmass ski patrol. Two separate patrolers stopped at my chair to let me know what was going on, how long I could expect to wait, and did I need emergency relief due to the extreme cold. Very cool. That's how its done folks. Blue could use some pointers. I was the last person off the lift and the patrolers waiting at the top gave me a $25 voucher to use on food, gear, anything. Very cool response. Sorry for the long winded story, but needless to say, all I kept thinking about was this damn movie trailer while I was trapped on the lift!
  23. Tell Glenn hello and I'll catch up with you guys in a few weeks for dawn patrol. He is 60 but still has that style. He is a skiing icon. He was before my time but his pictures are such classics. All you little dweebs in the park owe your ass to Wayne Wong. He is Freestyle. Additionally, I didn't realize you guys were so hostile to Epicski. I can dig that, skiers are mostly territorial anyway. I can post future pictures here if you like. Oops, check that, I'm having trouble uploading photos into my gallery. Oh well. Epicski it is then.
