Seriously, WTF is with this Weather?
Johnny Style replied to Ride Delaware ?'s topic in General Chat
A fraternity brother of mine works for Stowe. It is 22 degrees and snowing on top of Mount Mansfield. I am linking through FB so let me know if the pic didn't show up. -
I just noticed that photo on the pass; cool shot of people hiking to Highland Bowl. It is beckoning me.
-
Nice view.

There is a new clothing company called Strafe Outerwear. http://strafeouterwear.com/ They are located at the base of Aspen Highlands. Their signature product is a one-piece suit called the Sickbird Suit. GSS has been looking to upgrade his outfit for years now. Call me crazy but this outfit just screams GSS.

Yes, and I am old now too. Audi S4s aren't that roomy to begin with, let alone sleep in. I drove across country and slept in my car back in 1993. You were probably just born. I cooked canned ravioli on a camp stove on the front floor of my Nissan Stanza and slept semi-reclined in the passenger seat. I hit up Aspen, Steamboat, and Jackson for the Winter. I would sleep on the floor (couches were taken), until I wore out my welcome, and then moved on to the next resort. Didn't you do something similar a few years ago at Breck or Keystone? I remember seeing pictures of you and a few other PASRs bumming it for a season.

I already have both of my season passes, via early bird purchases: Blue and Aspen. I thought long and hard about the Mountain Collective deal (Aspen, Alta, Jackson, Squaw) but my two pass deal will actually be cheaper in the long run. I would have to cash in a few favors for some couch surfing to make the mountain collective thing happen. But someday....

Jackson Hole, Aspen, Snowmass, Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, Alta.

I concur, the caliber of the resorts is top notch. Of course you better own a plane of have some frequent flier miles saved up first. But what a year you could have. Hitting all four of those resorts in one year would be crazy. -
I am partial to the article, "Be Like Water." It is about the underground Killington mogul scene. There is something about skiing in neon outfits and straight skis that Johnny Style can relate to.
-
It's funny how Volkl makes a big ski and then can't make a bag to hold it.
-
I use a Dynastar padded, double, wheeled bag. Dynastar makes the only bags that I know of that offer room for skis longer than 194 cm.
-
These pictures from Montana are outrageous! They make me want to ski there so badly. Scenic, Snowy, Steep, Empty!

3/17 - PASR Celebration / Gaper Day / St. Patrick's at Blue
Johnny Style replied to IwantIceCream's topic in Blue Mountain
The fog burned off around 12:15 and the Sun came out. The bumps on Challenge were fun and large. There was a crew of bumpers about fifteen thick just ripping it today. There were two different lines at the bottom of Challenge divided by a green patch of grass. The sickbird move of the day would be to start on the skier's left side, ski across the grass, and finish up on the right side. I moved over to Vista and checked out the pond skimming. They had a pretty good crowd and a huge number of partipants. The eye candy was insane and I hung out for about an hour enjoying the festivities. I went back to Challenge and finished up the day on the bumps. Today was day thirty for me and I drove home and reflected back on the season that never was. -
Yes Please

Thanks, I have a pan for cooking eggs on a grill so I can make breakfast sandwiches.
-
Is anybody still bringing a grill?

Nice, D-Money is the man. I heard he won the competition this year. I like that; start a competition, put your name on it, and win it. Jonny Moseley did something similar about ten years ago for big air. This is about as close to a sanctioned Chinese Downhill race as you will find. When I spoke to Daron a few years ago he was bemoaning the fact that there was no longer a ski-cross tour (only one race at the X-Games), so more power to him for starting up a race series.

Darn, I was all set to go up tonight too. I guess you can stick a fork in Bear Creek's season. I actually got up there once this year for NASTAR and had a great time. I am looking forward to returning sometime.

Good call.

Maybe Sunday, weather is the factor.
-
Maybe, I wasn't planning on it due to the weather. I have some work commitments that might keep me away as well. Let's see how the afternoon shapes up.

Can Blue recover for 2/25 dawn patrol?
Johnny Style replied to Johnny Style's topic in Blue Mountain
I am hoping that they can groom this into a nice mid-winter slab, not compressed sugar/sand on top of ice. I hear there may be wind as well. -
I give Blue props for being able to recover after a rain storm. With that being said, currently it is fifty degrees, raining, and foggy down here in the South. Is there any chance Blue can recover by tomorrow's opening?
-
They misspelled your last name once and thus you had two different results forcing a lower ranking. I alerted them to that effect and you moved up a bunch of spots on the list.

Here is a facebook page called the Beer League World Cup. It tracks all four Beer Leagues in the Pocono area and ranks everybody using World Cup scoring. I think this is a cool concept. I didn't even know that Camelback was running one. If I didn't live so far South I would love to participate in more of these. https://www.facebook...rLeagueWorldCup

The Buckleys were on Fox 29 this morning at Blue Mountain showcasing the Luge track. Their daughter Theresa is the number two junior in the world! There were three Buckleys in attendance and Jim Daily also got some face time. Props to Blue Mt. and I hope you get some new sliders out of the promotion. Way to go! Video of the segment isn't up yet on their site.
