I'm not really feeling another mud jam on two rails with 200 people around. I'll probably just wait until opening day.
-
Depends on humidity. I see them blowing friday and saturday, and breaking for the freezing rain/snow/rain mess on sunday. Then starting again monday and continuing until whenever they decide to open.
-
I think the cliff was a mistake.
-
They better move it off the slopes. Do they still need dump trucks for something? They said they'd need 48 hours of blowing to open. Thats 48 hours altogether though, not just two nights.
-
They have opened on weekdays before so ya never know.
-
I think everyone has to pay for events like that. Did we get in free at the Meltdown Jam? I don't remember...

Right now Bear's opening is going to depend on their mentality towards opening. If they really want to push for an earlier opening I can see them having enough terrain ready sometime next week, possible thursday or friday (6th or 7th). If they want more terrain open and more features in the park then they'll end up waiting until sunday (9th) to capitalize on a couple extra days of snowmaking. Conditions look excellent, it just depends on whether Bear wants that weekday opening instead of waiting for bigger crowds on the weekend.

They used hay bales at the Meltdown Rail Jam last year. I think they'll leave the big jump lines and features for later though.

I just hated all the noise. Nothing kills the whole outdoor experience more than hearing construction equipment banging around. I'm seeing them blowing snow this weekend.

On their site they have Dec 1st as their opening date. Is this for real or not?

Here's a play by play aite. Somebody posted a link to an article that stated how warm this winter would be. Somebody else said they didn't want to read it all and asked what was in it. I said it would be 60s degrees all winter that was what was in the article and thus I answered the question posted by somebody. I then said that accuweather can screw themselves. I congratulate you on twisting my words and then caring about it enough to post it weeks after the fact. kudos dude ANYWAY I'm thinking if they get a good seven nights of blowing in they'll get a good portion of the mountain open. I'm gonna guess Cascade, Black Bear , Kodiak, and probably Extreme or a part of Broadway or something on the other side if they can make enough snow.

Two weeks isn't that long.

I reaffirm the 8th-9th. I could bet money on this now. I'm feelin it, and Bear's blowing the mice out tonight will chill the ground and everything. The ground may unfortunately be wet going from the 2nd to the 3rd of December which may hamper snowmaking at the start, but if the temps stay where they're predicted to be (and where they've been holding for several days now already) it shouldnt make any difference after the first night.

Java is being wierd for me too. Go to tools, add ons, and disable/enable Java. Restart explorer should work then. Love to see Bear blowing. This'll get the ground cold which is great. I'm not seeing an opening after two days of blowing but I'm really feeling the 8th here.

There is still construction equipment all over the base area.
-
The weather is ideal after the 2nd to start making snow. I'm feelin the weekend of the 8th-9th.
-
It'll be jumps. The rest of the terrain parks are pretty much jib-gardens with the exception of the jump line on the left side of Black Bear.
-
Yeah it's definitely a permanent thing.

I think they can push for a Dec 8th openind date if the weather holds. It seems very likely to me. Also, I don't see any movable guns anywhere on the mountain but theres only like six at the bottom of the triple, weren't there more there before? Anyway does anyone know if they are being placed yet?
-
There were tire tracks all over the place...
-
They're supposedly going to install another quad there. It makes me sad... so many memories with that double lift...sigh... It'll cut down on lines though I guess.
-
That's wierd. Either way its longer than this one.

The "This and That Game" thread in the lounge. It's 104 pages long.

Then it all depends how many hours they get each night. We'll see although I heard something about a week after Thanksgiving... or maybe the week after Thanksgiving... I don't remember, either way its just a rumor at this point. Right now I'd say they'll definitely be open (barring any freak warm spells) by Dec 15th. I'd say they'd be open by Dec 9th.

Diamond just doesn't have very good people skills.
