A video about these strange things (they actually talk about stopping). And here's odd device for snowboarders: Freebord

"It's like skiing in Zermatt ... "
-
It's a commercial survey, not a US census form ... Besides, wouldn't it be lying if a loyal Elk employee, or customer paints Elk as "Heaven on earth" in the survey. Ski's point is that Elk might be persuading folks to help "stack the deck" .

Brutal !!! Come on, it isn't that bad ... Though I do not like the "shuttle", and I will not eat the chow (made me ill). I do think it is a bit overrated (expensive), but it isn't really a bad place. That being said, I prefer Sno Mountain. The snow seems to be better , the chow is pretty good, and I like terrain ...

I pretty much spent the whole day on Fast Track ... The two lift commute and hike were well worth it ... Awesome day.

Melissa was right ... Any pass was good for Saturday. The folks at Sno seem to have some serious communication issues. I called in the morning to see if my "restricted pass" would be good for today. They said yes, you can use that pass today. I get up there around 2:00 and decide to check with the person at the ticket window(just to make sure). The ticket person said no. I asked the ticket person to check with a manager, and few moments later was told " Yes, you can use that pass". I did not get hassled by the "lifties" ... "Qui audet adipiscitur"

As far as the $75 ski package goes, do you think it would have some value for someone just learning to ski or would it be a total waste?
-
I guess this means that the cheap lift ticket for passholders from other mountains is no longer valid (for sunday)?
-
What are your top 3 trails/features at Sno?
-
Not wasting my time with CB. I'll do the last two days at Sno. Perhaps NY or VT for some April riding ... How is Belleayre?

Melissa Gets Mountain Cred (sort of); TR 3/21/08
Ratboy replied to Melissa's topic in Montage Mountain
Was at Sno this evening from 5:00 - 8:30. Conditions at the top of the mountain were not great. Hard pack and ice. Despite the marginal conditions I still had a good time. The nighttime lows are supposed to be below 30 for the next few nights. I wonder if they will make some snow? -
I did not meet anybody. Difficult to know who is a PASR member. Perhaps folks should wear those goofy "Hi, My name is ... " stickers. But, just for the record, if you saw a snowboarder in an army "digipat" jacket with black pants, and a black helmet that was probably me. You can also identify me by my spectacular "signature heelside crashes" on "lower fast track".

Ah, so that is the man in the fur coat ... Looks like coyote fur (or it could be some German shepherd mix). Either way, it is a bit odd seeing that this far south of Nunavut. Oh yeah, I like his beret. That is a beret he's wearing and not a toilet seat cover, right? Anyhow, it was a great day ... Had a lot of fun on upper/lower fast track. It was pretty cool to see all those folks taking a shot at the SBX course ... Long haul gave a nice view of the action. Thanks for the pix Ski !!!

The chow's not too bad, it's just expensive. I've had much worse. I'd give the food a B- . Besides, who goes to ski resort for food?
-
That's great news !!! I'm really glad this event is going well. Oh, yeah ... Nice job calling the event !!!

That was the practice session for the guys ... I couldn't stay for the rest of the competition ... Like I said, I missed more than I saw. That is only 45 seconds of practice. Doesn't tell the whole story.
-
Honestly I'm not sure ... First time using a new camera with a very slow memory card so there was a huge delay between shots. I was concentrating on trying to get the pix so I was looking through the viewfinder the whole time. I know I missed a lot of good shots. Here's some raw video (youtube stuff): Youtube - Revolution Tour 08 at Sno (Raw)

A mix of women's HP comp and men's practice session ... Enjoy.
-
Maybe a woodchuck ... Woodchuck Mountain ... And they can serve this stuff there: Woodchuck cider
-
I'm sure there have been unexpected "incidents" ... I wonder if the serve snake at the picnic ?
-
Also the butt of many "Deliverance" type jokes ...
-
Hah !!! Prom date in Noxen !
-
Perhaps they should have called it something like "Copperhead Mountain" or "Diamondback Mountain" ... I wonder why they chose the moose?
-
Ok ... Let me start of by saying that I like Sno Mountain. I just find the mascot to be "creepy". Am I the only one put off by the moose?
-
Sometimes that moose he looks right into ya. Right into your eyes. And, you know, the thing about the moose... he's got lifeless eyes. Blank eyes. Like little Orphan Annie's eyes. When he comes at ya, doesn't seem to be living...
