It was way too cold and windy this morning. I like the 50F mornings.

Thoughts on Blue honoring other moutain's ski passes?

except....they'll go away talking how in-fucking-sanely crowded it is and how terrible the conditions are. -
Thoughts on Blue honoring other moutain's ski passes?
AtomicSkier replied to indiggio's topic in Blue Mountain
At 9:40am this AM...it was empty. Ski right onto the lift. At 9:45am the line was all the way back to the patrol building. Hopefully 6pack will help the lines stay shorter and make the human slalom more fun. I think it's slalom ski time next weekend -
A brisk 25 degrees to start the day with JohnnyStyle and Skier111112 in the house. The first run was down a rock hard Midway to a pretty soft lower Main Street. You could really let the skis run, very carvable. By the second run, there were cookies and sugar. Lazy Mile had some rollers 1/2 way down that could really throw you. We eventually saw BMTrubs who was celebrating the day and enjoying the snow conditions Lazy Mile was the ROTD, though. Once the sun finally hit the last section before the sharp turn, you could finally see enough to make some really aggressive turns. By then Johnny was on his slalom skis and was having fun. Snowmaking continued the whole time, even when we left at 11am. A few more nights of snowmaking might get the 6pack open. My guess is we'll see it by Friday?

Does Blue blow snow over the Christmas closure?
AtomicSkier replied to tarponhead's topic in Blue Mountain
The answer last night was yes, they were blowing. They were still blowing when we left at 11am. I'm sure they're blowing tonight and tomorrow. Even if they have to pay snowmakers time and a half, that's still only $12? lol -
haha I remember traversing over and skiing down into those trees

7" the other day made for some nice turns at Snowmass...correct me if I'm wrong Johnny but this is skiers left of Wall 2?

Nice weather today...I didn't even wear a jacket when we went to lunch. JADIP

I think with the current state of affairs they will if they can. Coverage is pretty damn good considering the rain. Fast hero snow...time for another run on Lazy. -
lol I think you missed the joke.

Anyone want to buy a brand new Volkl padded double ski bag? Fits 190cm skis (but it doesn't fit rockered 193cm Shiros, as I just found out). $50.

Actually, I'd say the opposite is true. I haven't seen any 'sickbird' action shots coming from ANY of your trips. Case and point:

Blue Mt. NASTAR to be on Razors Edge for 2012
AtomicSkier replied to Johnny Style's topic in Blue Mountain
My bet is they'll be using Razor Back as the start, and the finish line at the top of the last headwall. -
2012 Volkl Shiro's with PX15's....193cm long, 119mm under food with a nice rocker.

8am meeting tomorrow really screws up my morning. Maybe I'll head up afterwards.

Wasn't doubting that...how does Snowmass show up on the list (300") but Jackson, which, according to this gets 450" is no where to be found? And where are the places in the PNW that get 600+"?
-
Interesting. Glad to see Peak sticking around.

I don't understand the logic behind this...Grand Targhee is sandwiched between two 500" resorts, and claims JH averages 50" less, but yet, Snowmass which is reported to average 300"/yr, ranks #9. Interesting.

wow...looks pretty good. tut's groomed out could mean almost ready to go in the valley?

What time is the AA meeting? -
Pulled in to the upper lot at 7:32am and JohnnyStyle was already present. Root pulled in a few cars behind me, and Toast and Skier1112 showed up shortly aftewards. No beers to start the day, but once we got out on the snow (first...again) it was a little chunky. Pretty obvious that they blew snow last night. The ROTD was Easy Out -> Vista ->Midway -> Main Street. It avoided the clusterfuck that was upper main street, and actually allowed you to make some turns on Vista. Main Street started getting push piles around 10am, and there was actually a lift line (we were just skiing on most of the time), so it was time to leave. We were definitely getting some leg burn on Main Street working on slow deliberate turns. Crowds remained pretty light for what I was expecting up until around 10am. Tinnies were consumed in the lot afterwards. JADIP.
