  1. Looks like a nice Moetel. What's the address? See you there!
  2. Wow...some quality skiing in that video...is that SexKitten at 0:56?
  3. He most certainly can/will be...but he said weekend
  4. Well...of course. But they open Fridays
  5. I'm assuming you meant this day
  6. Exactly. I wouldn't be worried about my driving, I'm worried about the idiots crashing into me.
  7. Just had no motivation for another crazy day. And, I wouldn't have gone opening weekend because I wouldn't want to drive that far in that storm. By the looks of Moe's pictures, the second weekend wasn't too far behind in terms of crowds. Granted, conditions were great last year...but we only skied 4 runs in a few hours.
  8. Weather/driving conditions may have had something to do with that
  9. While the mountain range the ski resort is on is called "Blue Mountain", Blue Mountain is *not* part of the Blue Ridge Mountains (we can thank Ski999 for PMing Doug on Facebook and saying PASRs are morons). It's actually part of the Ridge-and-Valley Appalachians.
  10. I took note of what they were before I dropped them off...and what they were after. Nothing 'core' about that. Just simply stating a fact. They were set previously by Nestors (a core shop, nevertheless), and never touched by me.
  11. We were soured by last years experience. We have always had fun at Kmart, but the stairway to heaven has allowed them to not open without top to bottom, and as much as I like early skiing, the associated crowds sucked. We never had a problem opening weekend before as everyone was spread out. Last year was in-sane. And this wasn't even the longest line we were in:
  12. I agree...the worst is getting slightly better but the best is getting better. Slow the down a little and take your time. Most importantly, overlap enough. Can't tell you how many times they leave a nice line down the middle of the trail when they failed to over lap.
  13. simmer down there...at least i've been to sno/montage and...remember to take anything the owners/mangement of any company says with a grain of salt. At work, we are considering outsourcing our email to Google, but our general counsel, etc have concerns about security. I had a chance to ask Google's SVP of Security about our concerns, and of course he reassured me. That's his job.
  14. Now you're talking...but yes, the palmeranians that do the grooming now don't care about skiing. They drive the cat as fast as possible and don't bother looking what they left behind them.
  15. Nestors had them set to 11.5 with no special sign off. Buckmans....8.5
  16. Beware...Buckmans sets DINs way too low. A binding check turned out to be a waste of money....
  17. I was trying to word that as to not make it a compeition. Last year was last year. In past years, I'd say the biggest cost differnece was airfare, as you could fly to SLC for $200ish. Planes are full, airfare is up. It's also not apples to apples when you compare a two person trip vs a 5 or 6 person trip. Obviously the cost of a condo and rental becomes insignificant when it's divided by 6. It's a significant cost when it's divided by 2. If Phillycore and Smartass went to Jackson or Utah together, my guess is the spend would be similar. I'm not arguging Jackson is better, I just like people to realize it's not as expensive as it's made out to seem. Notice how I'm not defending Aspen, as lodging is astronomical. I can't sugarcoat it any way...you can't do a cheap Aspen trip.
  18. Well, in all fairness, the time it takes to take the shuttle from Jackson -> Teton Village, you can be at several mountains, depending on were you stay, in SLC. So, it's a fair comparison in terms of trip destinations. When you goto Jackson, you ski at Jackson Hole (maybe a day at Targhee). Now that my friend no longer lives in SLC, it's not as user friendly for me. I hate having a rental car. It adds complication to the trip (parking at the mountain, etc), and additional cost. And yes, Jackson Hole airfare is on the higher side, but airfare in general is rising (yes, even Southwest). I checked the first two Saturday-Saturday's in March for PHL-*-SLC flights, and the cheapest was DL at $354. Southwest's cheapest was $650. I found a Wed-Wed on Southwest for $381. My Jackson airfare is $508. The rental car offsets that cost difference quickly. Our rooms at the 49er are $73/night. 6 day lift ticket is $440. Even if one skied PowMow every day, the lift tickets are $60/day, so a total cost savings of $80. I really don't see how "Jackson is expensive as hell". Maybe I'm missing something? I see maybe a $200 difference between airfare and lift tickets? Add in rental car and gas...
  19. It's not the same price. $/compacted snow volume is much higher.
  20. ....it's not root friday yet.
  21. How often does one get a chance to ski JH with JohnnyLaw and JohnnyStyle? That's reason enough to go
  22. I don't know if you remember, but you lived at home after you graduated, too. PC should take two shorter trips vs one longer one. Life is too short to wait until March to ski.
  23. Why not do both? I couldn't wait until March to go on my first trip of the season.
  24. they've improved, but still suck. they need to stop blowing such wet snow.
