  1. Do you pack it yourself, Ashy? Bring some samples to Blue tomorrow.
  2. It was 54mph on my 165 slalom skis on death cookies. Plenty of speed left to be bad...but no where near the 74mph at Blue
  3. My first year with a season pass it was $299. I guess $380 isn't a bad deal
  4. oh comeon...let's go! where is ttc6 when we need him
  5. Go see a doctor! It shouldn't still be hurting.
  6. And as a bonus, on my first lift ride up, I got an email saying my 9:20 was cancelled
  7. $20 is a lot to pay to ski that shit hole There is only one worse lodge on this planet then the bottom lodge at Blue, and it's at Mountain Creek.
  8. After yesterday, I wanted to sample the packed pow that would be served up this morning. I knew my 10:45-12 class was canceled, but was unsure about my 9:20-10:35 class. My roomie owned me, because I signed him in when he felt like sleeping so it was his turn. I left about 7:20am and pulled in just a little after 8am. Roads were snowpack, and there were some hairy spots where blown snow had reduced the width of 946 to one lane. Only 3 other people waiting in line at 8:30am. First run down I did Razors. Wow, was it awesome. True packed powder CAN be found in the poconos. Winds were reasonably light when I first started. A few more runs on Razors and then I checked out Dreamweaver, which was even better! The bumps got filled in with the freshness of yesterday, so it was really freakin soft in there. I took a run down Main Street once, but they were still grooming out the lower and central park, so it required a slow traverse to home stretch, so that was my only run on that side. I alternated between Razors and Dreamweaver the rest of the day, more Dreamweaver towards the end as the winds on Razors were brutal. I skied from 8:30 to 10:15 as I have class this afternoon and just wanted to get some early morning turns in. Great way to start another day in paradise.
  9. I think Wednesday is going to be the better of the two days, IMO. Being a rider of the storm means its constantly getting refreshed. Thursday it's a limited amount of freshies.
  10. I'd say there is a really high chance that CB quads won't run. Come to Blue and enjoy PA's coldest 6pack.
  11. I have that same bone on the outside of my foot. I used to have extreme pain there after a long day in the boots. Simply removing the plastic tab under my footbed made the problem instantly go away!
  12. I currently have a 98mm and wouldn't go any narrower... The super banshee is 130 and a 98mm....probably what I'll go with.
  13. and you know what...next time I'm going with a high end non race boot that's 120 or 130. why? my boots went from extremely painful/not wearable in their stock form to almost perfect now. I wear a size 12 street shoe and rock a 27.5 shell...that's some pretty decent boot fitting if you ask me ahahahah...nice
  14. You acually put the boots on too? Hahahaha
  15. It wasn't even that windy today....
  16. My neighbor is a patroller at JF but I know when he wasn't there on Saturday because when I got home from skiing the pow both there cars were home and they were out shoveling
  17. and props for backpacking in there with his 200+cm skis on his back, as well as a tripod for that legendary johnny style shot.
  18. JStyle has is albums set to private so I'll take the time to make the story publicly available....Thanks to Johhny Style for his time in preparing this wonderful TR... The parking lot is now somebody's back yard and home to a flock of geese. One would pay for their lift tickets here. It's now all boarded up. I was told that this place closed after I graduated high school and that we were the last "graduating class" to ski here. You would then walk down a path to gain entrance to the rental office and the lodge Comparison shot. Looking around from the lodge up at the main hill. Comparison shot of the beginner's hill. One would come down a hill from the lodge and cross this bridge to gain access to the slope. The bridge is all busted up now. Looking up and back to the lodge. A rope tow station that has seen better days. A "J" bar from the Poma surface lifts that used to take us to the top, all 150 vertical feet. When I ride the Poma lifts at Snowmass, Lake Louise, etc. I flash back to my days riding these lifts at Chadds Peak A long forgotten ski pole. Memories of a simpler time gone past. This thing was archaic even when I rode here. I only saw this operate once. Looking back down the track of the Poma lift. Still visible. Part of a long forgotten lift. The cable would run along this when it was standing Comparison shot from the top of the slope looking back at the lodge I came back down the hill (which is totally overgrown) and spied the old Patrol shack. I approached cautiously as I heard some noise in the thickets. Looking inside the old Patrol shack I could tell somebody was living here. There was a stack of empty PBR beer cans on the floor and some retro gear from the 1980s scattered about. I heard that rustling noise again and decided to get out of there... As I took off from the Patrol shack I looked back to discover what had been making all that noise. I heard a loud, "who dares to poach my private glade skiing stash?!" He yelled out that his name was Johnny Style and that this place was for locals only; something about this being his off-season training facility... I left that Style dude back at the Patrol shack with his righteous 1980s era skis and managed to snatch a picture of the lodge one last time on my way out. I think I've seen this Johnny Style before at Blue...
  19. How about 2 days before New Years? I think you stayed for 2 runs. That was the 2nd worse day of the year, followed closely by opening day.
  20. Because I always enjoy reports of boot deep snow that result from 1" of snowfall
  21. We left a little after 10.
  22. 1"? I thought JF would've gotten over a foot because of the microclimate.
  23. Now that I have returned back to the B, I'd say we have 7-8" here.
  24. ugh....i was praying for them to cancel
  25. It is deep out there!
