Nice perk for unlimited pass holders
AtomicSkier replied to RidgeRacer's topic in Jack Frost & Big Boulder
Not many mountains "restrict" access like Blue does. I think it's an interesting idea, and seems to work well. Keeps things moving in liftlines instead of checking for passes, and people don't have to fumble around for their passes, etc. I keep mine tucked up under my jacket, and would hate to have to whip it out on every lift ride. JFBB on the other hand, has the worst season pass holder ticket idea. -

Does anyone find it odd that the days I don't ski, Doug doesn't feel like skiing, either?

my car is parked on top of a slab of ice. When i pulled in, the car started sliding sidways, and then stopped. When I got out, my roomie and i tried to see if we could push the car sideways, but no dice hahah i'll be out there tomorrow....

I hate to criticize Camelback, and I hate to be a Blue fanboy, but come on Camelback. Get your tail from out between your legs and run the lifts. I've heard the "excuses" right from management personally why the lifts aren't run, but I don't buy it. Blue doesn't seem to buy it either. There is a member on here who has run an older Dopplymayr quad in higher winds then CB ever would. Blue will run their new 6pack, and old quad in any weather, including freezing rain, sleet, and wind. We're not in the rockies at serious elevations where the wind speeds are crazy, it's Camelback and the lifts are just above or at the top of the trees. Maybe Poma (the lifts that Blue uses) have a much better design for dealing with ice? But the mechanism on both lifts looks pretty similar. Camelback has to have one of the shortest high speed quad line lengths in the US, giving the ice the least amount of time to freeze on the detachment mechanism and line. Suck it up, run the lifts, and make your customers, even if its just season pass holders, happy.

doug and i stayed around 30 miuntes from mount snow when we went up. We were only paying $80/night for our steeze suite, though. 30 minute drive is nothing, really.

Exactly. You can do that on any ski trip. Ski trips in the summer vs ski trips in the winter isn't apples to apples. Sure JH is $1300 during the winter, but what would you pay to ski, for example, JH in the summer? For jibhonks, they don't care how much vert or terrain is open, they just want their hits and jibs, and to do this in the middle of the summer is worth it, on top of the instruction. If you can afford it, why not? Go big or go home.

Didn't one of those places have "rangers" in yellow jackets with radar guns? There was a thread about it on here I think... -

I got on the snow about 1:30pm and saw the familiar faces of the ticket check guys at the lower lodge. I clicked into my skis, and hopped on to the steezy 6pack. Did a quick few runs down lazy and main street, going back to the 6pack everytime. After my 14th run, I saw Justin and GrilledSteeze, who where both caught in the heavy traffic on 145. A few minutes later Phillycore showed up. We did some steezy fast runs down Lazy 1.6km. It was fun letting Justin get 1/2 way down lazy when we were standing at the top of the lift. We usually caught him at the top of falls. Snow was pretty good for having sleet last night. I left after 22 runs. doug and justin stuck around, and eventually hit up the park. Doug hit the roller coaster box, and he said it was crispy. Doug and Justin are at my place right now, and they have some SFRB. See everyone at the boot tomorrow!
